Never been there myself, but in the late 1990's there were a fair few batches of supposed 'K pills' that did horrific things to some friends of mine during the morning come down, who otherwise would have been fine. Never tested, only on hearsay..

I've always liked hanging around mushrooms, they're real "fun guys"...

I think the media is well over 70% responsible for these shameful acts. The sensational reporting, including the broadcast and reading of text messages saying "meet at ... at 1pm on Sunday, it's on!" and so forth are just inciting the violence and rampage. After the intial incident the other week, and Cronulla dwelling friend of mine said it was all a bit out of proportion. Without that media, it would have remained an isolated incident. It is appalling the way that these people are acting, all of them. Watching 50 people chase down a single female and start beating her is so low it was hard to watch on tv. Not surprisingly, the media is starting to blur the line between middle east and Muslim.. muslims vs surfers. I didn't know that they had idealogical differences! But yeah, it's a bit out of control from all (first hand) reports, a sad chapter in Sydney and Australia's history..

Hmmm let's see... Anything from the "em:t" series is amazing, though they're long out of print. Well worth tracking down though, especially a legit CD, as they have great nature inspired cover art. These to me are the definitive classic ambient (and otherwise) CDs for journeys Global Communication "76:14". An ambient, downtempo electronic dubbed out masterpiece. Amazing album Aphex Twin, "Selected Ambient Works I/II". Probably needs no introduction

Quite interesting. I visited the the Colca Canyon about 4 years ago. At the time I had a fleeting interest in ethnobotany, but unfortunately wasn't as well studied as I am now. I was taken with the spectacular cacti in the area, seriously some of the most amazing plants I have ever seen. I did take a picture of what my guide told me was the plant traditionally called San Pedro, however, it's not a particularly detailed photo, and more baffling, it doesn't resemble what we tend to call T.Pachanoi here in Australia that closely as it had significantly more pronouced raised areas at the spines/areoles. (also, my guide could have been incorrect). I'll try and scan and upload the photo when i get a chance.

So far it seems that the guy who defended himself with the sword is likely to get off. If the story is legit, then this is great, finally the legal system working the way it should.

Just a thought here.. 1 1/2 teaspsoons is about 7.5ml. Say it's the same density as water, and phalaris is 90% moisture, and that you got 80% of the moisture out of the grass. That would mean you only had about 10.5g of phalaris grass. Say 50% of DMT came out in the squeeze (the rest locked up in the plant solids, and that number is plucked from nowhere), at .1% DMT dry weight which seems to be what P.Aquatica/Tuberosa is quoted at will only give you ~ 5mg which isn't enough for threshold ayahuasca dose (about 35mg, Ott, Ayahuasca Analogues ). Of course, this is ignoring the possible 5-Meo and Bufo content which I imagine couldalter it significantly. And of course, this theory and the maths could be well off. (I've editited once already on rethinking) Also, a paper on N,N-DMT content in P.Aquatica seedlings for those that might be interested. http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlere...i?artid=1055574 good luck and let us all know how it goes

Do they look anything like this? I've found these bonsai sized guys and they look more pachanoid to me, given their spines. They started to grow once removed from their 5x5cm pot. It's probably about 10-15cm tall now from the 7 or so it was a few months back. ID anyone?

I dont think there's any real need for caution. People have been taking the best (and worst) from (pseudo?)fiction for a long time, take any religious text for example. While some people have been let down by finding out that Castaneda's work might be fiction, it doesn't detract too much from his works being hugely influential in promoting the discovery and embracement of individual spirit and will, respect for your allies etc. I'll be the first to admit I was a bit miffed in finding that the common view is that they are fiction, but on reflection, I don't think it matters all that much.

Yeah, I've never seen one in real life either, but my copy of "A field guide to Australian Fungi" by Fuhrer has Illeodictyon cibarium, which is macroscopically similar and says "Widely distributed in forests and in wood mulch on gardesn, but not common" I'd imagine a few people hunting for subs might have come across them before?

Had a look. There wasn't a heap of ethno stuff in the plant sale section by the time I got there, nor was there a heap in the show (two reasonable loph clusters and a lot of astros). Was well worth going though just to see the range of amazing cacti there, they really are incredible plants.

Definitely. Good work, and you never know, it still might be required..

hehe.. you've opened a can of worms here. It seems most people on this board are a Tool fan to some degree!

This sounds like a fantastic idea. Only in the past few months have I really started to question what I've actually got, and having a consensus of sorts would be good.

Hmmm. Very unfortunate That Herald-Sun article is cringe worthy... quote: You could take six ecstasy tablets on a Friday night and have enough energy to rave until dawn. You could take three on a Saturday night and not feel any different. You could take one on Sunday and die. Such is the unpredictability of the ecstasy, GHB and amphetamine-based drugs sweeping Melbourne's dance scene.

Yeah, SAB are great :-) Keep up the good work!

I'm may not thinking hard enough about this, but how the hell is an ID card going to stop terrorism? I can't even think of one factor...
