  1. I found out that it is legal to own the Opium poppy as long as you don't cultivate it because I was wondering how they could sell them so I looked it up.

Not sure why you'd own an opium poppy but not cultivate..? I'm under the impression growing P.somniferum is illegal Australia wide.

Also, are you sure it was S.divinorum you saw?

  2. For marijuana adult plants have enough THC in their buds that if you just grind up a whole live plant it will be as potent as the weakest marijuana that is still illegal under law. Thus they can grab one live 2 kilo plant that would yield 100 grams of finished bud, call it 2 kilos of marijuana, and since 'one gram of marijuana is worth $30' they busted a guy with '$60,000 of marijuana' growing in his closet.

I'm wondering if someone got caught and was in the above situation, how well a court case would go if you actually explained how fucked up the real figures were to a judge... I'd hope a good lawyer could get you outta a shitty situation like this...

  3. Cannabis is less harmful than alcohol or tobacco, according to a report by a British research charity, which called for a "serious rethink" of drug policy.

The Beckley Foundation, a charity which numbers senior British and other academics among its advisers, said banning cannabis has no impact on supply and turns users into criminals.

"Although cannabis can have a negative impact on health, including mental health, in terms of relative harms it is considerably less harmful than alcohol or tobacco," says the report by the Foundation's Global Cannabis Commission.

  4. I want a pollie to admit to smoking weed when they were younger AND that they liked it.

Highly doubtful it would happen in the near future. I agree that society is becoming a little more accepting but "I liked pot when I was young" prolly wouldn't go down to well.

  5. The rock art that redraws our history

HIDDEN in rugged ranges in north-west Arnhem Land, a spectacular treasure-trove of Aboriginal rock art is set to rewrite the history of Australia.

In a find that has stunned archaeologists and anthropologists, a vast wall of about 1500 paintings chronicles the history of Aboriginal contact with outsiders, from Macassan prows and European sailing ships to 19th-century steamships and a World War II battleship.

Alongside exquisite rock art more than 15,000 years old are paintings that capture some of the 19th and 20th centuries' most important technological innovations - a biplane, bicycle, car and rifle - as well as portraits of church ministers, sea captains and traders.

Well, they don't look very aboriginal to me - interesting none the less.

  6. Seeing them play tonight at The Arena :D

    Shall be good

    Who supported them?

Band called Virgin Black was the Syd support - Not heard of them before. They weren't too bad.. But yeh I got there 1hr after doors opened and support only 1/2 way thru..

Have fun man, hope its awesome :)

  7. I'd much rather look at the study than this poorly written crap... (not having a go at you JD, just the writer)

cannabis users can be as aggressive as crystal methamphetamine users, with almost one in four men and one in three women being violent toward hospital staff or injuring themselves after acting aggressively

My first question would be why are they in hospital? I dont know of anyone who has wound up in hospital from consuming cannabis in and way, shape or form. Presumably if they are in hospital it is due to an emergency of some sort and of course your emotions are going to be a little wilder when your baked (or under the influence of any drug, including legal ones). I wonder how many sobre people behave agressively in comparison under similar circumstances?

Second would be why are they acting agressively? Presumably they are there because of an emergency or they have been taken there against their own will. Would you not be slightly off centre if you were caught up in an emergency or dumped in hospital against your own will when your sobre?

Almost 12 per cent were considered a suicide risk.

So how does this compare to sobre patients in similar categories?

She said the study, which covered two hospitals from 2004 to 2006, revealed that more than 9 per cent of cannabis users had depression or bipolar disorder, 5 per cent had schizophrenia and 4 per cent had paranoia and a history of self-harm.

Now these stats are indeed quite scary, for any group of people.

"With hydroponic cannabis, the levels of THC [the active ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol] can be tenfold what they are in normal cannabis so we are seeing some very, very serious fallout."

I'm sick of hearing these comments about hydro being more potent. Properly grown organic or soil grown bud can be much more potent than hydro. The negative side to hydro is that the chemicals used in the production stages tend to stay in the final product - unlike most average organic or soil grown stuff (or properly grown/harvested hydro). Potency has nothing to do with growing with water and ferts (hydro) - it is all down to genetics. If people are going to say that hydro is the cause of pot turning into a 'different breed of nasty cat' () they need to realise it is due to the nature of nasty chems/ferts being used in the hydroponic systems and not being properly leached from the plants before harvest.

I will agree that hydro has turned grass on its head - but the grass hasn't changed, cultivation methods have. Due to it not being regulated (because its illegal), people just grow it the cheapest, quickest way so they can make an easy buck. They dont care about the end user, unless its themself.

End rant against article... That feels a little better :)

Well you just summed up my rant too mate; agreed.

    Fucking media.

  8. If only I could be quick enough to get a photo of my border collie sneakily sleeping in my cacti greenhouse :(

Sometimes in the middle of the night I hear the door opening and freak out but its only him sneaking in there!

  9. To answer Klue's earlier question. Mine are very slowly healing up. Thet are still scarred but the red is turning a brown as you suggest. It does take a while to. I first treated mine mid April and progress has only just started. This could be as result of the plants growing very slowly due to the cold weather. Some of my grafts have gone completely dormant and are not growing at all.

Cheers dude, hopefully if I keep careful with the treatment and environment it'll start healing like yours :)

  10. right ... ok then . I was working on a theory of gnats and rot. :)

Not to say they don't cause it, but yeah haven't seen them around the area - I was under the impression they'd stick around if there was already a problem with fungus though rather than causing any trouble?

  11. I though this kind of rot is a fungus not a bacteria? (Fusarium oxysporum)

I have had it - ( and still do) on plants that I just can't clear up it seems to go away and then comes back.

did you have lots of fungus gnats before you got the rot??

Hey watertrade, nah I've not seen any fungus gnats in my greenhouse before. Damn rot!!!

  12. Still not much change since I've started treated them (found another couple with minor attack) - I don't think it's gotten any worse however, which is the main thing at this stage.. I guess?

When/if successful, will the rot change from the redish colour to more of a brown type scarred look?

    Peace

  13. I've noticed this Koehresii is getting a few little red marks on it. At first thought it looked like orange rot, as similar experience in the past.

But this seems to be more superficial. Could physical damage cause this maybe?

    Cheers!
