  1. The hypothesis is that since it grew next to that wall, it was naturally shielded on one side from the wind etc and as such didn't develop the structural integrity to withstand a 100 year windstorm. The close proximity to the wall prevented growth on that side so all new growth occurred on the side opposite of the wall to the extent it got too big & overbalanced that it eventually fell over.

Besides it's natural method of prop., I reckon i'm having problems like this over the last couple of months, particularly when given a good dose of water, some wall ones are going great, but i think their positions catch the wind and thicken up, the ones being more sheltered seem to have very little structural integrity, they are all different clones/species so it's hard to tell if its genetic or environmental, maybe a bit of both, i don't have cuts of the problem plants planted elsewhere for comparison at the moment. Luckily these plants haven't snapped, just found them bent @ 90 +degrees a few times.

  2. Can't help ya with the plants themselves but,

Be aware that there are at least 5 different highly similar 'kangaroo apple' species in Victoria, and variations within that stock.

    S. aviculare and S. lanciniatum commonly listed as kangaroo apple

    S. vescum, gunyung

    S simile, Oondoroo and

    S. linearifolium, Mountain kangaroo apple.

Locations, general soil growing type, flower/fruit characterstics, minor differences in leaf/stem structures (& at certain ages) can help dictate what's what.

Most common 'round melbourne would be differentiating aviculare from laciniatum.

There used to be around three recognised variations of Billardiera scandens, which i think is now down to two, which apparently again are highly similar and ID can be found via flower and leaf characteristics generally, not sure if both occur in vic (would hazard a guess at yes), never done much work with them, but have come across quite a few plants from warrandyte up to the dandenongs. They are pretty dainty, but can be fairly obvious, just gotta get your eye in. I think seed growth can be a bit hit and miss, apparently cuttings are more so the go, but not to say don't try seed. Much easier to find when they are flowering.

  3. Granted that what you're talking about is more important, losing the trust of a sister is a big deal. It could mean the end of a very important relationship.

Well the ball is in the 'offenders' court, if she want's to mend a potential important relationship than that is her responsibility and her maturity and realisation of her actions will dictate the result.

It wasn't any sort of drug though, it was a weed brownie. And to the eyes of children, a weed brownie is a regular brownie.

That's just digging a hole imo, that's the whole point, a drugged 'treat' should not be accessable to a kid of that age. I can't see why it wouldn't be attempted to pull the remainder of the snatched good out of the kids mouth or induce vomiting asap.

Cannabis ranges from hemp to highly potent psychedelic material, particularly in oral dose the psychedelic effects can manifest in extreme ways, even standard drug material orally on a 60-100kg adult male with little tolerance (even with tolerance to a degree, and context specific to the material) can put that person on their arse for a good solid 2 days. An oral dose of cannabis of 'standard' potency (yes generalised, i realise chemistry differs broadly and 'standard' doses based on genetic chemical composition can yield varied results) is more or less no different to 2g dry of subs imo, if anything it can be more potent and longer lasting, particularly if a hangover occurs. It has the potential to be a serious psychedelic drug even with mediocre potency material.

As far as I know, she hasn't. The article only states that she told police officers that cannabis should be legal.

You're right, i apologise, got carried away with frustration, kept checking the article to see if i was making stuff up and i mis-read the 'police' bit.

Either way, yes it should be legal, but in context it's irrelevant, so if it was legal it's okay that her kid dosed on it? Mushrooms should be legal too but that doesn't make it okay for a kid to snatch a dose of them and then people just to go easy on the parent saying that's cool it was an simple mistake, kids are quick, no worries try not to let it happen again.

  4. The biggest problem i have with these situations are financial burdens which don't sort the problem out at hand. Financial issues will do more harm than good to the child itself. I'm not sure how to interpret in lieu of $ bail, holding until bail paid? holding instead of bail for a period of time?

She had her kid at 15, pregnant at 14 (generally, don't need number nazis up my arse), probably hasn't finished school and if so probably has suffered from an educational point of view of what she could have achieved. (No i'm not saying young mums are uneducated dropkicks, the potential is fine, the biology is there for a reason, our society however creates the deadshit and there is a high abundance of) She doesn't need a lock up, or financial burdens, she needs education on all levels and good kick in the arse, welcome to reality where you are responsible for your actions and your actions influence the people around you. It's not solely her fault, our society has created and continues to create these situations over and over.

Doesn't trust her sister again? big deal, she needs to sort her irresponsible shit out, she's not one to be preaching in court how cannabis should be legal, keep her head down, shut her mouth, accept that she was grossly irresponsible (and has said to have been quite similar in the past) and work on becoming an adult who is a parent for that child, the fkn future of our society.

If a kid can snatch any sort of drug that is being introduced to the househould, then it's completely that persons fault, who gives a shit how quick a kid is, what is the substance doing within potential acquisition by the child at any time.

The harm cannabis could do to children is another topic, it can be used successfully and is being used on kids for medicinal application, this situation was not medicinal, the substance was not tailored to a specific kids ailments both composition and dosage, this topic more so pisses me off in the context of responsibility, awareness from the childs point of view, educated dosing and such a situation arising in this day of political climate where situations like this re-affirm anti-drug legislation in the mass of uneducated fearful voters, making it ever increasingly difficult and further degrading the lives of responsible users of all substances.

Media manipulation is one thing, maybe this story is twisted, but the stereo-type fits all too well is all too functioning in society.

  5. Didn't really want to bump this, but just want to say thanks initially to the great gathering at the gardens, the idea and organisation is really appreciated and i really liked your touch M by bringing the bag of stones, i didn't want to put mine in the gardens 'cause i couldn't think of anything to write, so i will get much more out of it by having it around my house, may seem a little silly but it helped me through the following week having it on my desk.

The body viewing was quite important for me as i really felt the need to see his face again, which is what i was looking forward to at a meet or soon to be ega before this news arose, i didn't think i could cope in attendance but seemed to hold it together especially with the help of those around me so thankyou for that, everyone who was there and supported myself and others. Think i've bottled a lot up but it seems to be slowly coming out.

His mum was a great light, and it was warming to know how much she appreciated us all. Will miss ya.

  6. Thanks for the photos, it was different to what i had in my mind and it helps a little as i'm quite a visual thinker.

Intoxicated or not, to me i don't really care, it's irrelevant. If people need to discuss it that's cool don't mean to restrict others expressions.

it's not getting much easier, still can't really make any sense of it, may have met him at the library in previous years, but most fond memory was meeting denis and natasha (&adrian!) at the early eb up north out at macas, he drove me around for nothing, had breakfast and a look around in town, surreal to have lost both of them, it's perculiar but i remember that morning spent with those 3 visually so clearly, much more clear than the rest of that weekend besides the great time spent with tantra and others until sunrise, broom flower, marshmallow world. Stay safe all.

  7. What came to mind first for me was the bridgesii clone I got off Urban Tribes many years ago, that was based on some of the colouration of the plant, what i perceived to be a thin specimen (all mine seem to not put on much girth from my conditions over the years), as well as that sorta darkening of the areoles towards the tip (not saying they are dark, but it's a look some of them get that i can't put into words, like yowie presents it well too imo), then that last photo, particularly showing the thicker base felt like psycho0. I reckon if it is psycho0, you'd be able to tell when the tip comes into good vigorous growth

Photos are hard, environmental influences are hard, sometimes clones look unique to me, then intermingle with others, then seperate back to distinct.

  8. seeds for trade soon.......

    64574961.jpg

    chaliponga seeds

    shamanic plants

Unless you are using B. rusbyana seperately to the synonym of D. cabrerana, then again afaik, these seeds are not 'chaliponga, D. cabrerana' simply based on seed morphology.

What is your take on B. rusbyana? Do you recognise it as valid for a specific species that is not D. cabrerana? and could you please post photos of the mother plant.

    Cheers.

  9. your description sounds like most common yellow belly call description i've known, you've also got greater gliders up there but i don't know their call, they're a different genus though. Lots of other stuff too, i like the sugar gliders, found a dead bunch of them up there one day, about 4, puzzling...

brief call tape i could find on yb glider...

    http://www.wildlife.org.au/wildlife/speciesprofile/mammals/gliders/yellow_bellied_glider.html

keep on the lookout for the goanna's, if ya lucky you might find one, lotsa raptors, owls and deer species too.

  10. beautiful mate, nice landscape, and not bad shrooms too :P if only cod and morel season coincided, bah gotta get some aquaponics happenin', local tafe where doing alright with them a few years back i think, pretty big professional setup though and always tweaking, lotta work, plus cod was like 1/20th of their production species, just a tester i think.

glad to hear the floods didn't get ya, hope wang's okay!

  11. You may have more success if you give better information, guessing it's size isn't something that a lot of people will go for imo, give proper height and girth measurements, as well as proper lineage and you may have better luck. I can't see where in the link it's called what you've stated it as, imo calling it something like that gets complicated, as the reverse cross would be called the same yeah? and the reverse cross is not the same plant i.e. pach x super ped is different to super ped x pach afaik.

anyhoo i'm sure someone would be interested, can't expect a bite in a short period.

  12. yeah just to rub it in :P cheers mate, always like photos from landscapes up your way.

some folk must be getting them floating through the doors up your way, you're doing alright with the floods i take it? must be a bit south of you from vague reports i caught.

Going to be a bumper season for a lot of things i reckon, lotsa seed collecting to be done, can't wait wooh

  13. wow that is a nice haul, have only found them once, after the fires up kinglake way, small patch, their gravity ignoring orientation well present haha, went back looking for them the other day but so much regrowth, couldn't find the exact small patch, must keep a better eye out for them, thanks for the heads up.

  14. yeh good post indigo,

particularly on the lying and jerk pharmacist front, make a stand and get them to order them in for you IMO, they usually don't have a clue and you end up with at least 2-3 people (pharmacists and cashiers etc.) treating you poorly giving you suspicious looks, then looking up books for ages for simple names. A good point is once they find it, get the specific name off them and the order code, tell them that you WILL be coming back in the future for more orders so if they can supply you with the name/order code it will make it a lot easier for everyone involved, a simple 30 second order request, out the door.

Haven't done it for a while, though they usually don't know what a scalpel is, think they list it as surgical blades, for anyone looking for that item.

If you're in for a particularly colorful day at the pharmacy, ask them for headache tablets at the same time, more lies and even dirtier looks, expect them to front up the weakest strength on offer, with attitude, /rant.

  15. I'm not too educated on the different parasites, what they do, where they live and how to get rid of them, though the very first thing that came to mind after years of reading texts based on amazonian medicine (mostly quite restricted topics!!) was ayahuasca. Besides the mental aspects, i've been really interested in the physical effects of it and other brews, not only chemically based, but also texture based which i've sort of felt (probably quite baseless, but maybe put a few things together in my mind after reading so many different texts) that different textures are important for physical medicine, i'd often thought this towards thing like cactus as well, entheo obsessed people seem to often be aiming for thin fairly okay tasting, shunning anything else, but i think different textures can play a significant role in physical medical application, both internal and external, and that's to go for any herbal application really. The combination of physical and mental being an even bigger pot of confusion and no doubt cultural knowledge that can only be understood over many years of knowledge passing.

A quick search led to this

    http://psychology.wikia.com/wiki/Ayahuasca

    Which states

'While non-native users know of the spiritual applications of ayahuasca, a less well-known traditional usage focuses on the medicinal properties of ayahuasca. Its purgative properties are highly important (many refer to it as la Purga, "the purge"). The intense vomiting and occasional diarrhea it induces can clear the body of worms and other tropical parasites,[7] and harmala alkaloids themselves have been shown to be anthelmintic[8]. Thus, this action is twofold; a direct action on the parasites by these harmala alkaloids (particularly harmine in ayahuasca) works to kill the parasites, and parasites are expelled through the increased intestinal motility that is caused by these alkaloids. '

with the anthelmintic harmala ref here ... Hassan, I. 1967. Some folk uses of Peganum harmala in India and Pakistan. Economic Botany 21: 384.

Whether or not there are different substances for either intestinal parasites and liver parasites i'm not too sure.

Dropping Anthelmintic into search led to this brief list.

  16. Thanks for the chillies mate and the seed I look forward to propagating these babies when it warms up a bit. Any advise of when to put seeds down?

I sorta use this for melb. as cundall is in tassie

    http://www.abc.net.au/tasmania/stories/s2106182.htm

so probably around October (under glass), but probably best results towards the end of October, but i reckon if you've got the opportunity, start em under fluoros and plant out when appropriate, make the most of the growing season, i'm sick of things lagging, flowering late and then not getting a decent crop down south. this year hoping i'll be prepared and get things like chilli and eggplant started under fluoro.

  17. ah yes  you've reminded me we've got a barely used portable electric hedge trimmer in the garage

got the chainsaw too, but fuck that's a bit drastic LOL you beast you, i'll eat my words though when the hedge trimmer clogs
