yeh good post indigo, particularly on the lying and jerk pharmacist front, make a stand and get them to order them in for you IMO, they usually don't have a clue and you end up with at least 2-3 people (pharmacists and cashiers etc.) treating you poorly giving you suspicious looks, then looking up books for ages for simple names. A good point is once they find it, get the specific name off them and the order code, tell them that you WILL be coming back in the future for more orders so if they can supply you with the name/order code it will make it a lot easier for everyone involved, a simple 30 second order request, out the door. Haven't done it for a while, though they usually don't know what a scalpel is, think they list it as surgical blades, for anyone looking for that item. If you're in for a particularly colorful day at the pharmacy, ask them for headache tablets at the same time, more lies and even dirtier looks, expect them to front up the weakest strength on offer, with attitude, /rant.

    Herbal remedies for Dewormings

I'm not too educated on the different parasites, what they do, where they live and how to get rid of them, though the very first thing that came to mind after years of reading texts based on amazonian medicine (mostly quite restricted topics!!) was ayahuasca. Besides the mental aspects, i've been really interested in the physical effects of it and other brews, not only chemically based, but also texture based which i've sort of felt (probably quite baseless, but maybe put a few things together in my mind after reading so many different texts) that different textures are important for physical medicine, i'd often thought this towards thing like cactus as well, entheo obsessed people seem to often be aiming for thin fairly okay tasting, shunning anything else, but i think different textures can play a significant role in physical medical application, both internal and external, and that's to go for any herbal application really. The combination of physical and mental being an even bigger pot of confusion and no doubt cultural knowledge that can only be understood over many years of knowledge passing. A quick search led to this http://psychology.wikia.com/wiki/Ayahuasca Which states 'While non-native users know of the spiritual applications of ayahuasca, a less well-known traditional usage focuses on the medicinal properties of ayahuasca. Its purgative properties are highly important (many refer to it as la Purga, "the purge"). The intense vomiting and occasional diarrhea it induces can clear the body of worms and other tropical parasites,[7] and harmala alkaloids themselves have been shown to be anthelmintic[8]. Thus, this action is twofold; a direct action on the parasites by these harmala alkaloids (particularly harmine in ayahuasca) works to kill the parasites, and parasites are expelled through the increased intestinal motility that is caused by these alkaloids. ' with the anthelmintic harmala ref here ... Hassan, I. 1967. Some folk uses of Peganum harmala in India and Pakistan. Economic Botany 21: 384. Whether or not there are different substances for either intestinal parasites and liver parasites i'm not too sure. Dropping Anthelmintic into search led to this brief list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthelmintic
  7. I sorta use this for melb. as cundall is in tassie http://www.abc.net.au/tasmania/stories/s2106182.htm so probably around October (under glass), but probably best results towards the end of October, but i reckon if you've got the opportunity, start em under fluoros and plant out when appropriate, make the most of the growing season, i'm sick of things lagging, flowering late and then not getting a decent crop down south. this year hoping i'll be prepared and get things like chilli and eggplant started under fluoro.

    My Oyster Grow Setup

very nice, you've sure got a great setup going, makes culture so easy when you can have those semi-permanent fixtures like the boilers and such in place. Sounds like you'd have a shitload of good compost too, or even more substrate for running a different species on the spent substrate. Keep us updated on the productivity! The straw shredding is a pain in the arse, i'm usually doing it by hand, if not just ripping off chunks and using the finer stuff, chipper/shredders are ideal, but good ones are pretty $$$$, saving for one, can't be bothered spending less only to have it break, especially as it'd be better having one for wood and straw instead of just straw.

  13. Cool :D am open to the different possibilities and definitely think it's a good thing that it's not completely anonymous, will be interesting to see how it goes. Very good point about the chill space, can have it's place being utilised there i guess as it's a broad range of topics there, but with the more so meaning of the package i.e. productive subject matter more so focused on what this place is really about, seems logical where to utilize it. Cheers.
  14. Don't know if it's really open for comment, but i reckon get rid of it, positives or negatives it's all a bit pointless, i think if people spend the time around they can see what is valid and what isn't, who contributes, who doesn't and the quality of it. I can see the point of ticking quality information, but what's the flipside? negatize misleading information? and who's to say it was informative or misleading when they may not be fully aware of where a person is coming from? why can't people just talk, a plus or minus still needs an explanation imo to explain why or why not information is or isn't feasibile/quality. People interpret posts differently as well as positives and negatives. To me, if it needs an explanation, which to me they all do, they the initial rating is completely redundant and a waste of energy. I found myself using it for the first time (i think?) the other day, a positive rating on someone who imo reacted relatively maturely in a situation where i think they were jumped on irrationally and highly hypocritically, i guess with my point of view a comment would have been appropriate, the means was to give the person who wrote it some sort of support in what i saw was a needless post to justify their position which shouldn't have even been brought up in the first place. The main reason i didn't make a post is because i was fairly certain the person who i was going 'against' if it must be put that way, would get hurt from the comments and wouldn't take them onboard even though i think it was a sensible and thought out support towards an attacked member who did nothing wrong in my eyes. People shouldn't feel awkward or guilty for rationally putting a point across because others don't want to acknowledge their own wrong doing and any constructive criticism is taken as a mass personal attack where they blow it all out of proportion and storm off, it's unfair to all involved and highly unproductive which just creates even more negativity, paranoia and sadness. To me it's fairly obvious we are quite a sensitive and passionate bunch, i know i am, to me it just creates more self doubt, ego inflation and a downward spiral in the long term. We need to communicate more effectively and openly, not base situations on numbers, people need to be able to put constructive criticism out there and people need to take rational criticism put on them to thought and sort that shit out, not create a fight over it. To me it's fairly obvious a lot of people always think they are in the right when quite clearly they are not, to me this isn't opinion, even though i suppose people would argue any point of view is always someones opinion, above that, i think we all can see situations where we know what is right and wrong which is not opinion based and the people going each other need to take a look at themselves and stop thinking everyone is out to get them, we are all human, make mistakes, nothing to be ashamed of, it's shameful when we can't admit to when we are wrong! Even all this discussion, how much energy is this wasting?? if the rating system does stay, i sure hope it does something positive in the longterm, else what a destructive waste!

    What am I doing wrong?

Pm me your postal details and i'll send you a little bit of pachanoi (PC) x bridgesii (psycho0) hybrid seed, fresh from last season. I've heard little to no viability issues with one specific species that comes to mind of SAB seed, non-cacti, but i've had good rates with the seed i've ordered off them some time ago, it would fluctuate between species and demand of seed stock, if it is a viability issue it would be worth letting T know, but it's often hard to tell what's what, it could be your method and timing, it could be seed. Where about is your thermometer, flat on the mat itself?, it can give misleading readings depending on location, soil and air temperature differ, i think soil temp is usually a few degrees lower than air temp, but heat mats change that, soil temp would be higher than air temp, which would change the further up the soil profile you get. You don't want high temp and lots of wet, it'll lead to baking them or rotting them. Lophs can germinate with higher temps, but too high will cook them too, i've found good loph germ at same conditions to trich. Even within a good viable seed batch, i've also had some punnets flush heavy, whilst the same seed in another was crap, probably a moisture, heat and light issue in my case. Sounds like you didn't poke them in too far which is good, but not far can be a personal observation that differs. At the moment i'm using a 60:40 coir:prop. sand mix, well moistened but no sopping wet, nuke it for about 6 minutes in the microwave (then load into containers if nuked outside of containers), close container lid and let cool, open to surface sow and just settle them in with misting from a water sprayer, then close again and keep warm and brightly lit, but not direct sun.

    Cactus pics

well didn't do the photo but the pachs are within 69-90cm range, nice and fat besides skinny which i'm guessing is mainly genetic, whilst the still hard grown perus are 18-30cm still stout seedling skinny.

    The therapists chair.

seems like all too frequent occurrence, social attitudes to things they don't understand and are more or less raised to despise and fear, I recall BZ. on these forums telling us about his experience with the emergency ward regarding inability to urinate because of a specific substance, from memory their response was something like 'well guess you should have thought about that before you took it' and pretty much laughed at him. Disgusting that these people are the apparent caring experts in our society, yet we all know our medical and mental health system is an absolute joke, but that doesn't make it any easier nor acceptable. Not all folk are like it, but seems that there are a good portion in the ranks, wonder how they'd feel if it was them in the situation, well i don't really wonder, know the answer hands down. Terrible state of affairs.

    Cactus pics

Nah no worries with questions, happy to answer, don't expect sizes by times, it's all too variable, these should be much larger than they are, they were hard grown for many years, and even when they started to get good treatment and take off, they still were (and are majorly) potted, ground plantings just go off the charts due to better nutrient spectrum, biological associations and better root space. Tomorrow i'll try show you a comparison with the similar time peruvianus seed sowing and these 'pachanoi', the peruvianus are still in their small squat pots which were a small step up from their original even smaller squat pot. Will confirm dates too. If you sow now and treat them well you should have very decent sized plants by 2017.

    Acacia Maidenii

Not that i have a great deal of experience in direct seedling, particularly in small seed batches, but observation of good and bad tube stocks, vs good and bad natural occurrences show huge differences in vigour and overall genetic expression with natural sprouting. The biggest factor imo (besides appropriate soil conditions for specific species) is the ability for the main roots to get to where they need to be without being disturbed, once it's damaged in any way imo it will just never be the same.
