    FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

As mentioned earlier, remember that GABA is (stupidly) a scheduled illicit drug precursor in some states - listed in the highest schedule category. Any orders, particularly attempts to "stock-up" in bulk for your anxiety, could be investigated. I'm sure that's not a big concern as you're obviously not using it illegally- still it's worthy of consideration. In some states, the quantity listed under "commercial" level is relatively small. Not sure if it is the case for precursor possession but drug laws are often "reverse burden of proof" in nature and I'd hate to see people subjected to ridiculous accusations - defending their innocence - when your intention is to get off benzodiazepines and naturally manage anxiety. I'd recommend that you consider other "legally-safer" options before purchasing it, if you haven't done so yet. That said, if GABA works well - better than anything else (and you intend on having larger quantities on hand), try to find a friendly, open-minded GP and get official evidence to support your medicinal use, in the unlikely event of problems. May seem to be over-the top but IMO, this could be the best way to deal with it.

Important legal update for NSW and Qld

I hope that any legal classification of beta-phenethylamine would take into consideration that it is without substantial effects in man (ie. it is not pharmalogically similar to illicit substances, despite having some structural similarities). The fact that it can be rendered active to some degree by MAO-B inhibition should not, I hope, be used to establish "pharmacologically similar" activity. There has in the past been promising research, using the combination above as an antidepressant and it seems to be one of the endogenous enhancer substances that offer new directions for future treatments. Wouldn't suprise me if a the whole set of neurotransmitters and trace amines become analogues of illicit drugs. Tack on a name like "Desmethylamphetamine" and PEA ends up sounding like something that could be the next epidemic.

    Applying Auxin to plants?

Just a quick question: Anyone know the availability of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) as a single ingredient auxin? Been looking for ages and never had any luck (preferably after it as a concentrated form, not in ppm stuff). I'm reluctant to use super expensive -borrowed- Sigma-Aldrich analytical stock too, even though the plants do deserve the best... I've located Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA auxin) 5g for AU$76.62 but still looking to go a bit cheaper... Any tips? I'm looking for quantities of a couple of grams in purity of 80% or better (or as single ingredient solutions).

    CambridgeSoft ChemOffice Ultra 2008 11.0

While I use ChemDraw/Chem 3D frequently, for most people it's not much better than the free stuff (as others have mentioned). ACD produces an excellent program "ACD/ChemSketch 10.0 Freeware" that is free for personal use. Before you download the above illegal copy (which is overkill for most users), check out http://www.freechemsketch.com/ ISIS Draw is also used by some but I find it inferior to ChemSketch.

    dark blue tea

Found an interesting insight regarding the blueing reaction and action of ascorbic acid. IMO, oxidised psilocin (dimeric quinone, inactive) could potentially be reduced to an active monomeric, phenolic psilocin derivative by ascorbic acid. FUNGAL METABOLISM-IV. THE OXIDATION OF PSlLOCIN BY p-DIPHENOL OXIDASE (LACCASE) (Received 14 April 1967) FUNGAL_METABOLISM_IV._p_diphenol_oxidase.pdf Abstract-The oxidation of psilocin catalysed by p-diphenol oxidase has been studied... QUOTE: "The blue product formed during the oxidation of psilocin was found to be readily reduced to a colourless (straw coloured in concentrated solution) product by ascorbic acid or sodium dithionite, and is thus probably quinonoid in nature. Studies previously reported of the oxidation of phenols such 2,6-dimethoxyphenol and 2,6-dimethylphenol have shown that dimeric quinones are obtained as products, these quinones were readily reduced by ascorbic acid or sodium dithionite."

Very sad indeed. A wonderful person who will be greatly missed. She definately was doing great things for the plant community and drug reform in general. If anyone is in touch with her friends/family (once they have had time to grieve), pass on my condolences. R.I.P

    Importing Kava to Oz

I agree with all the above comments. Great kava. My supply rocked up today and I'm also impressed - certainly unwound me after a horrible mid-year chem exam, a task that takes some damn good kava. Klin rocks!

    Importing Kava to Oz

Some more words from John (as he is unable to post on this forum until membership is approved): "I just read the responses to my posting you put in for me. Thankyou. Unfortunately the website designer put the name kavaman on the site. I had not tied kavaman and James together until I had received your email quoting what Sharman had written. There are lots of people in this industry that call themselves kavaman, kavawomen, kavaking etc, hundreds actually. Once I read Sharmans statement, I was able to tie the two together immediately. Mr Vertmorpheous seems to be of the opinion every body should know James as "Kavaman". Unfortunately they don't. I certainly didn't. As far as I know, James is still up to his tricks despite complaints from overseas dealers being made to the VCMB in Vanuatu about the antics of this character. klinkava.com.au will not be re-listed as is, and only klinkava.com will be used due to a written notification to my storeman (not a shipping container) in Brisbane with regard to advertising Kava on the net. Klinkava.com.au was not de-listed for any other reason other than to comply with the law. I can understand everyone's nervousness about kava dealers, I have been taken three times in the last 60 days. Not large amounts of money involved, but enough to make me a little shy. So while I don't like Mr Vertmorpheous comments, I can understand his scepticism." Some words by one of his references to further clear his name: "John has been stressing out about this. He is a very honorable man and pretty religious and he takes his name very seriously. Don't worry your kava will arrive. If it doesn't contact me and I will take care of it. There are many dishonest people in the kava business and your concern is not without cause. I have been burned by these people for almost $10,000 US so I know them well. Please spread the word that Klin Kava is a legitimate business and not related to the criminals in Vanuatu. I am sure you will like the kava. Here is a website I built to acknowledge a criminal that got me good on a kava deal http://www.basilhopkinsisathief.com/ He runs with the boys in Vila that will blind your eyes and steal your dreams. I would make a site about James but he was not foolish enough to steal from me. But I know many people that cannot say that. Thanks again for giving John a shot. He really is working hard to supply the AU market. Regards, Jeffrey A. Bowman, M.B.A, Eng. CEO & Co-Founder South Pacific Elixir Company, Inc. Boca Raton, Florida" As you can see, John's stressing out about this. I think we should support him and his business on this forum after all this...

    Importing Kava to Oz

I think John Fordham deserves to be in on this discussion. I am in no way affiliated with him, or his business but after expressing my concerns when placing an order, he wished for these words to be shown in reply to some of the comments. I'll be sure to let you all know how my order progresses but so far, the customer service and price have been excellent and I have no complaints. "Dear Forum readers I was extremely disappointed to be advised that Klin Kava had been linked to "Kavaman". My name is John Fordham, owner of klinkava.com and its products. I have to question anyone's (Sharman) motivation or lack of integrity in accusing someone, such as myself, of being involved in scrupulous kava dealings or any other dealings before they do any investigations to substantiate their allegations made on electronic media for everyone to see. A simple click on my "contact" icon and an email to me would have been a simple act to follow to find out if I was the "Kavaman". I have a kava processing plant in Luganville, Santo Island in Vanuatu. Over the years I have witnessed poor quality products leave Vanuatu and Fiji to end up in Countries such as Noumea, Australia, USA and New Zealand. These products can smell(bacteria), contain contaminants such as "false Kava" "Stem Peelings", "Stems" "Flour" etc. Kava is a great product that's been denigrated through "shonky" operators, inferior products, quality control issues and unsupported so called "scientific findings" and large mark-ups on wholesale prices. I continue to find markets, and operators that have been devastated by kava dealers such as the ones that I have been accused of being. I will back my, products, service and prices. I have endeavoured to bring high quality products to the consumer at a fair price. My products will continue to improve over time as feed back from consumers helps in this regard. I have been operating my business since September 2006 after 2 years of research and development of my products. My web page has been activated for two weeks in Australia. I have no negative feed back but numerous positive emails appreciating the quality and timeliness of my service. My products are shipped from inside Australia from Brisbane. What happened to "Fair Go" policy of Australians and the "innocent until proved guilty" verdict. By the way, the limit of kava to bring into Australia is 2kg and not 2.9 as suggested in a forum response. John Fordham [email protected]"

so how & which drugs have changed your life?

For me, MDMA is the most life changing drug I have experienced. To put it simply, it saved my life during a time of really nasty depression. Prior to my MDMA experiences, I had trouble seeing positives in life and was extremely shy. Integrating the things I learnt during the 5 hours of "chemically induced pseudohappiness" allowed me to take big steps towards tackling my depression and becoming a happier person. Unfortunately, MDMA has had a negative impact on my life too. I was recently arrested for possession. I'm not sure what will happen (never been in trouble with the law before so it will be a learning experience) but a criminal conviction will put a dent in my career dreams - could be a case of the legal system doing more harm than the drugs... That said, my trouble with the law has made me question the use of any drugs and put a permanent hault to the use of MDMA which may work to my advantage in the long run.

    Please somebody help me

NOTE: I am not a doctor so seek professional advice before trying any of this. Just a thought - magnesium supplementation sometimes helps depression, probably through some NMDA mediated route. From stories on the internet, it seems common that NMDA antagonists (particularly ketamine) can act as effective antidepressants. DXM may be helping you out in this way, as it too is an antagonist. If you are up for a bit of experimentation, try supplementing with a bioavailable form of magnesium (glycinate, citrate etc) at doses close to 500mg (carefully, high doses can cause diarrhea). I'd be very interested in hearing from you if this helps you to feel better. Good luck with it!

MPs rave visit 'grossly irresponsible': Rann

Thanks for the correction. I appreciate your help . Probably should be a little more careful with spelling but I'm one to easily miss stuff when I try and proof read. Not like he's going to read it anyway... I think he'd expect errors from an 18 year old synaptic self-mutilating "raver" who's just passed through his "education" system...

MPs rave visit 'grossly irresponsible': Rann

I emailed him too. Wonder if we'll get a reply... "Mr Rann, As an attendee at the Enchanted rave this year, I feel that your comments regarding MPs visiting these events were grossly unfair. Before you jump to any conclusions, I did NOT consume any recreational drugs at this event and thus feel that I am unbiased on these issues. I saw both Isobel Redmond and Sandra Kanck at the party and I am sure there presence was not to win votes nor pass on any message that drug use was 'safe'. It was comforting to know that some MPs were interested in seeing how youth celebrate life and possibly consider that current legislation may not be the best way to deal with several issues. I sincerely hope that you have not lost the ability to have an enjoyable time. You would have enjoyed it at Enchanted (even if only for a short visit and quick hello when it was not so hot). There was not one person at this event that was not enjoying themselves and only a truly grumpy old man would criticize MPs who gave up their time to attend. Anyway, your "Tough on Drugs" approach is clearly not working. Maybe it's time to stop being so naive and consider other alternatives? Pill testing will save lives. You should personally accept some responsibility for injuries or fatalities due to adultered pills that could not be tested for safety. I have rapidly diminishing confidence in you're ability to run this State after your words. Many of my peers have also expressed this. You owe these two open minded, friendly and knowledgeable MPs an apology."
