  1. I believe that at our cores we are little more than perception and will.  We perceive reality and have the will to change it.

Now if someone were to obtain the means of perception such as education, tv, the newspapers, movies, stockmarkets, etc. they could make us believe anything we wanted effectively shaping our reality.  If a certain group of people were supremely effective in obtaining this power over the masses it would result in the majority of us being little more than sheep to them making tests like what you took make complete sense to the end user as it would be obvious what the results would be to those in power.  To them it would be little more than a numbers game where 1 +1 = 2 and you'd be floored at getting the correct answer.

So the question then is how do you set yourself free of this programming? Truth be told many a person has gone down that path and hated not only what they found but themselves as a result.  Sometimes it's easier just being a sheep and accepting your reality at face value because a happy lie is often perceived to be better than a harsh truth especially when you follow it to it's logical conclusion.  Have fun going down the rabbit hole if you seek it but don't say I didn't warn you that like tripping you're not going to get what you want but what you need and it's entirely unpleasant.

    So the forum uses cloudflare?

Yeah the error was on a cloudfare page.

^ This. Still a bit buggy on the login for me :(

That sucks.  I was still logged in from before the down time and the site has been working much faster for me since it came back up too.

I don't know if anyone else saw it but there was a 521 error code during the down time too.

  4. While the forum was down lots happened in my garden both good and bad.  I'll start with the bad.  Some dirty fucker attacked the Eileen that got sunburned or tmv a while back massively hurting it.  The same cunt hit one of my legendary matucana pachanoi seedlings too.  I fenced it off straight away but as the peeps on facebook think it was a parrot attack my efforts were probably futile.

To cheer up this post a little here's a Rosei#1 with a smiley face, a decent pic of my largest sausage cactus and my loph jourdaniana that's continuing it's push to bloom.

The really good news is I've again added more cacti including the legendary foolsbreath

In order those cuts are booya, cuzco, foolsbreath, kai, peru, pyscho0, ss02 x juul's giant and urban tribes.

I also managed to convince a seller on ebay to supply me with a few cuts off my wish list so plant attacks aside it's been a great week :)

  5. Yesterday was a hectic day so I didn't get a chance to show off all the goodies that arrived so without further ado here's the new plants in my garden except for the grafting stock pachanois because we've all seen pc a million times :)

Ben, Brian, T. Peruvianus 'Cactus Garage', Cornocopia, Eileen, Fields OP, Kai, KK991, T. Knuthianus, Nimbin, Monstrose Pachanoi, Psycho0, Short Spine Bridgesii and Yowie.

I also got Chemical Shaman's Dick and to likely no one's surprise had 2/3 grafts fail.  They were the tiny slab grafts so while it sucks it wasn't a total loss and I still might be able to save the larger one but the smaller one is definitely a write off as you'll painfully see.

I have noticed a fair few pups coming up over the last couple of days including my first ever basal pup which has another one already starting to form right next to it.  There's also Jeans and a penis cactus pupping well now too :)

Saving maybe the best of all, or at least the most interesting for me anyway, for last, here's that confused loph doing it's thing again but turning the dial up to 11

I was able to put my rent off for a week to score a Foolsbreath cut from moonunit and some other goodies that will come over the next week or so too.  I know, I know, I need to find a cacti addicts anonymous, but thankfully I get paid on Thursday and need to go on a diet anyway lol

  6. Oh lordy lord, did the postie chick just deliver!  I got a few packages way earlier than expected with all manner of herbs, seeds and succulents but to stop myself from derailing my own thread too much here's the cacti, 7x pc tier pachanoi that are going to be mother plants for grafting stock and 2x trich. peruvianus, Cactus Garage and Brian that were also delivered :)

    new.thumb.jpg.ba32c424b3aaf6fd6f626cbd567b8e31.jpg

I wish I could pot them up now but as I was expecting them to arrive next week I let myself run out of soil and pots again.  Oh well, hopefully they're selling snags out the front of bunnings when I get there later :)

Wow, awesome stuff. Every day more awesome! Make sure you let those cuts dry properly for at least a week,  (two's better).

Tell you what, I wouldn't take cuts any shorter than that. They won't do so great when potted, as-in, they may take a while to get big and strong again.

The best way to do cuttings is to only deal with the big fat stuff. Keep 'them in the FAT zone. Those short cuts will probably grow skinnier for a while, and have some permanently skinny areas on them.

Not saying it can't be done, or it should never be done, but what I am saying is it's best avoided. It's definitely not optimal. Better to grow them another year or more and take a big solid cut for your mate.

Next time tell him to wait till next year LOL. There's plenty more he can find on ebay while he's waiting.

Keep it up man, I'll be hitting you up for cuts at this rate :P

I was going to let them get bigger before cutting them but he agreed to share them out once they get big enough on his end so to help spread the love faster I figured bugger it, they're getting a chop :)

I've got a couple of cuts with your name on it already.  I do kinda owe you for that leg sized monster pach you sent me but unfortunately they will take a lot longer to be ready than the babies I took today and some like the CSD will depend on if the grafts take or not too but either way I will repay your generosity with some really decent cuts :)

  8. Took some small cuts for a mate today.  Here's what he's getting and the aftermath in my garden because it's not very often you get to see a cross section of these cacti.

I just wish I could get the photo to be up the right way haha

It's that way being of an orientation tag in the exif info.  Mobile phones use them to try and display the picture the same way it was taken.  To fix it you can rotate the image in any program like mspaint and save it as a different file type like png or gif.  Alternatively there's apps like irfanview which allow you to strip all that kind of data away from the pictures when you save them again.

Personally I recommend irfanview as you can do a bulk conversion of files using the same settings like resizing, losing that orientation tag, etc. which makes the process considerably faster when dealing with lots of pictures.  Also it's free :)

  10. I've seen really small seedlings, way smaller than yours, grafted to pereskipsis before so it can be done but if you aren't grafting them I'd probably just let them be.  As for your beautiful Eileen you could easily give it a chop and turn it into quite a few plants.  The bigger they are the faster they'll root and grow but I've had quite a few very small cuts (under 10cm) that have taken off no problems.  Just make sure that you don't put them in a pot upside down after they callous over and you'll be golden.

Today my CSD from the man himself arrived and I had it in my hands for all of 3 minutes before cutting it.  I'm a goddamn monster and probably a huge fucking idiot one considering I've only had a single graft work for me so far.  It had to be cut due to the angle of the original piece if I wanted to graft it at all though so wish me luck but especially for the two smaller bits I slab grafted as it was the first time I've tried it at all.

Sorry to hear that mate.  I'd die on the inside being forced to give up my cacti.  Also sorry to say that I'm broke at the moment but thanks for looking out.  If you ever need a hand getting set up again in the future (say 6 months or more) from now I'd be happy to throw some cuts your way to help you back up on your feet.  I wouldn't expect payment or anything either, just knowing that I'd be helping someone out in your position of being forced to give up your plants would be payment enough for me :)

  13. Even though my postie chick is fit as today she got quite the workout :)

Ben, an unnamed bridgessi that I've labeled Blue Cheeze, Gawler, a grafted loph, another Roseii#2, Sausage, Scop, two different TPM x Pach's, Urban Tribes, Vollianus and another Yowie that I got as a gift.  Today was a good day :)

The really fucked thing is that this is only about 1/3 of what I blew the last of my money on.  It's going to be a great week indeed :)

I said I would take a stacked macro pic of that weird loph bit and now I deliver.  I also made a stacked pic of a pup because why not? :)

If you're actually interested it's a ad006 pasacana, 2x sharxx blue, peruvianus 'john', LW Caespitosa, the twin towers (true blue peru and an unreleased pachanoi from halcyon daze), Roseii#2 and a technically unknown plant from SAB that I'm like 99% sure is psycho0 as it looks exactly like the other ones I have.

It’s interesting what ever it is, but it’s not a flower bud. They are shaped and coloured differently... I’m keen to see what happens though...

I tried taking photos today but they all turned out shithouse.  I'll have some free time tomorrow though so I'll get you a proper stacked macro of it in all the detail I can muster :)

Actually noob, that wouldn’t be a flower bud there. It might be a pup pushing through, but loph s only flower from the centre, even when you have multiple flowers there always from the centre. Pups off the main head will also flower, but also from their centre...

Now that you mention it I've only ever seen pictures of them with flowers in the middle.  I know that I have less than an untrained eye but it really didn't look the same as the pups the loph has been putting out at all especially in this picture and more than that it's retreating while the pups keep on growing.  I don't doubt you're right about lophs flowering from the centre but could it have been an error that it's now trying to self correct?

it's normal for all kinds of cacti to abort some buds at the start and/or at the end of the season, I think its mostly seasonal and dependent to what phase the cactus is in.

thanks for clearing that up mate :)
