Hi cactus people :)just wondering if anyone has seen this before? its a T.peru seedling which is expressing a mutation reminiscent of M. geometrizans boobs. Still early days...

Just before this new growth emerged there seems to be an infection of the meristem. The spines came out distorted, bent and subsequently fell out leaving a ring of damaged areoles.

looks like there's some deformed ribs halfway down too....any ideas?

One of my bigger ones did a similar thing, but is now growing normal. I changed the spot and i think that stressed the plant.

Did you change something before it happend to you plant?

Today was not a good day. As you can see, many of my brand new graftsbabygraftsandseedlingcups.thumb.jpg.0e908485a117e148a0a6776a4f1a6b62.jpg were destroyed as well as some grafting stockoutsidegreenhouse3.thumb.jpg.2c4f439a1444047cd7e3280fd0b0d251.jpg. Damage was found both in the green house and outside of the green house. Most upsetting wasn't the fact that many crests, variegates, etc. are now unlabeled and unknowns now... but in fact almost all of my grafts have had labels removed or tossed. It is not a good day for me to say the least. I found one small seedling that had been de-grafted while trying to fix everything up and suffice it to say I did re-graft the unknown seedling now and after that I pretty much lost the heart to do much else in the green house. Sadly, many of the crested and variegates I had were slated to be given out as gifts once they matured a bit more. Deep breathe in and relax. Now, I have to wait and see how many grafts will still pull through after having just been grafted in the last 3-4 days. This is going to be one heck of a learning experience.

Uff, brother. That is a shock also for me to see this. Stand up and as you said take a deep breath. I send you supportive feelings and thoughts. Pain hurts, when you can transform this pain and overcome it, then another part of the ego is transformed into love. Thats what i send you, love.

One of zellys crosses, i have lost label. One year old. The grafting stock is pushing a pup at the bottom. The grafted one is extremly green.

Could be a Psyho0 x Sharxx but thats suspicion.

I found the label still attached to the grafting stock beneath the earth. Its a Psyho0 x Lumberjack. For that cross the spines are extremly short. Has anybody pics of that cross to compare? Thanks in advance.

Absolutely love Zelly's hybrid seed. Looks like you are showing two very nice jewels from this collection. Thanks for sharing these solomon.

Felt also in love with zellys crosses and so did many others. Great solomon.

I have a small mate lj x vrg. I am not a good grafter, only a few grafted, and i am always happy when the graftingstock and scion are melting together. Exciting.

    interesting plant pp.

this more or less confirms what I have been thinking for a while, that the plant I have with bright pink flowers (lots of photos on here) that grows to about 6ft is an echinopsis-trichocereus hybrid. the 'angularity' of the ribs and the spines are spot on.

    nice garden btw.

    pic.png

Here are some other photos. I have two plants.

Echi white flower x pach and

    Echi red flower x pach

Thanks the creation and building of the garden is in the beginning.still lot of ideas.

If it is a tersch it's a very good looking clone , can you get any more?, perhaps smaller, cuttings?

if it's a hybrid , ... it does appear to be a bit taquimby in a way ... what colour do the spines go?.. like if you wet one.

if chocolatey red then perhaps taquimbo was a parent (sorry, taquimbalensis I mean)

Right now I am not in the garden, again next week. Traveling a lot atm. Its a lot of back and forth, north and south you know.

I will contact the grower for more, information of this plant. Got it last week, when i picked up other plants on the way to south. I had no intention to buy it, but after I saw it and looked at it, for quite a time, he asked me for buying it. I gave him my last cash.

We had not enough time to talk about lineage or place of origin.

    I ll keep you updated.
