    Philocacti Appreciation thread

Dear philocacti, with my following words I would like to express my support and inspiration. I would like to say thank you. I joined this forum after one year reading all the topics about trichos and you were amongst the ones who inspired me gave me faith and confidence. I grew up a cacti collection from zero, no cactus, no knowledge and no practice. You and your knowledge, pictures of your cactis on the rooftop are now with me and helped me keep the focus and clarity. Last year I received a clone from slice, named zeuss and he is now in the ground. Very proud of that. If I can support you in a way, please pm me. A big hug from Pedropark

What did you do to your cacti today?

The seedlings are a kind of a mystery mix from misplant with a story behind. I sow a box full of seeds end of last year, aproximatly 500 and labeled them carefully. Amongst them some gems, a few tpm x mystery and bonny x tpm. At one day my cat jumped in the box and destroyed all the seedlings. What a mess. It was a sundaymorning and I had tears in my eyes. The cat survived, it was my mistake. I tried to save a lot of seedlings at an very early age of 2 weeks and it took me 2 days to separate them from earth and replant them carefully. Now I separated the mutants from the other seedlinds a couple of days ago and this is the TPM-Mystery story. So we have BonnyxTPM and TPMxMystery.

What did you do to your cacti today?

How often they get water depends on the weather and temperatures. Usely I give them water every 3 days. If its hot over 30 degres celsius every second day. The soil is a mix of pumice, sand and wormearth. Took some time to find the right mix. The soil is around 5cm high in the boxes. They were inside until now on a sunny windowplace, 4 hours direct sun per day. Now they get 3-4 hours sun a day outside. Will increase that step by step. Is the color to green? The green is different from cross to cross. Beautyful to see. To spiny already to eat them at once, maybe I wait. Better to look at them and admire the art of growing.

What did you do to your cacti today?

Time to feel the sun ... first time for the 6 month old seedlings. Now they get accustomed to the nature. These boxes are doing a good job when I sow a couple of hundreds at the same time. Easy to handle and easy to take care of them until separation. Misplant seedlings are extraordinary healthy and strong and some are mutated.
  9. pm'd you. Thanks

What did you do to your cacti today?

I use EM(effective Microorganism) since a couple of years in the garden, and for cleansing, washing, the body. There are many things they are very helpful. Since I use EM for plants, they are more healthy and have more flowers, deeper roots. ... While I am writing, the Postman is delivering new EM. WHAT A SYNCHRONICITY. Attached you find a pic, what I got today. For the plants I use the liquid form. In the web I found this: Great Microbial Treatment for all plants (flowers, veggies, trees, etc.), compost, and soils. Improves Soil Structure and Drainage Bioremediation Bacteria Eliminates Foul Odors In The Home (Pets, Smoke, Garbage, Drains, Paint, etc.) Improves Water Quality In Aquariums, Ponds and Rivers Effective Soil Conditioner Cleans Without Toxic Chemicals Accelerates Composting

Zelly's trich crosses, got pics? post here please

My son found this plant at kakteen haage in germany and it was labeled. Echinopsis hybrid red flower x pachanoi. It has flowerbuds and flowered for weeks after we bought it. It was a big surprise to see the colour. I asked the owner of kakteen haage but he could not tell me anything about it. He was surprised that I bought this plant in his nursery. So its a bit a mystery. I ve been at the nursery a couple of since then to look for other ones. No match.

Wow, the flowers are overwhelming. Thank you for creating the seeds. Currently I am in catalunya and preparing the first field of the next generation. The seedlings are 16 to 18 months old and doing very well here. We prepared a dripline and are building a fence, because we have wild pigs around here. No cats... The flowering cactus on the second poc is also here in the ground and the flower is from last year. It will flower in 3 weeks again together with other trichos.
