Hey all any more ideas on the bad reaction i had with the berries? Its been over two weeks without them and my elbow had pretty much cleared up completly. The seeds have the bad stuff in them? How do you get them out then, they r so small! Merry christmas all!

Hey all, i finally managed to find these. Apparently the asians call say its is pronounced 'go ch-ee' like the chee part of cheech and chong. They were also labelled 'Red Medlar'. Well after i got a small pack and tried them out i decided to get a bigger bag. About $8 for 1/2kg. Anyway, after reading all the health benefits and stuff i started eating them every day. They taste pretty good i reckon. I read that 30g a day was about what was used for treating a variety of things. I would have been eating about this much. Anyway, a week or two ago i started getting a very itchy elbow, but thought nothing of it. Then it got really red. Then it got real red, itchy and started coming up in welts(like pimple things) and i started getting a few on my neck and shoulders. I have never been alergic to anything in my life and couldnt figure it out. Then it dawned on me. The only thing i have been doing different is eating those bloody berrys. So i stoped eating them a few days ago, and my elbow has improved already. Now it may not have been the berries, but i cant put it down to anything else. Plus it also reminded me of something i read about food from china etc. not being safe as they use all sorts of chemicals and pesticides that are banned here. So, i may just be paranoid, but i aint eating the suckers any more. Im gunna grow my own. Is there anywhere i could send some to get tested or something, to see if they did contain any nasties?

These things sound really good. I read a bit about the goji juice and it sounds fantastic(if you believe all the stuff on the site) but is verrrrry expensive! I just want the berrys themselves, i went to one of my local chinese grocers and asked for goji berries, no idea what i was talking about. Lycium fruit? Nope. Is there some other name for these things that the asians have? I tried describing them as small red saltana like things, but i have not seen then before myself, is this correct? If anyone could help me out id really appreciate it, these sound like a great little healty snack!

So what do other people think? Can people make a differnet date? But yeah, it's Apo's idea so he's got the final word.

Hey check that link i posted Apo, the Indian Naga Jolokia they talk about there rates almost 50% hotter than the Red Savina Habanero !!! I was reading up about these babys a while ago because i wanted some, just so i could say i was growing the worlds hottest chilli! Apparently they are quite rare outside their natural habitat.

Wow you would do that just for me? LOL seriously i dont expect people to go out of their way to do change thing just so it suits me. My exams finish Nov 5 (oh no i do have a saturday one ) so anywhere between then and the 25th should be do-able. But im easy, if i cant get there when everyone else can, well i just miss out The 27th would most likely be out too, as i hear the party after the snowy ride is pretty big :saufen2: If it suits others to go earlier than thats great, if not its no worries i'll just come to the next one.

Yeah i dont find that chilli helps me sleep, but i love it anyways! Habaneros are too hot, but the worst part is they dont have a nice flavour. I can handle the heat, but habs(well the ones i grew) dont have a flavour that appeals to me. Birds eyes have a nicer flavour, and those mutant looking ones (scotch bonett?) are really nice, especially the flap bits off the sides. Habaneros arent the hottest any more, seeing as they were rated 10/10 i dont know what these ones would be? LOL i didnt even think of the train , i was going to ride my bike! The train sounds much easier! I think Cyjack might be thinking of coming too so if he is i'll see what he's doing and work something out. :

Oh i know how ye all feel... I had a few little babys going, about 20 to start. After a few weeks the number was down to 5. Thats cool still 5. Then down to three, then two. Well all was well for months, two beautys powering on :D One with leaves over 15cm wide! And stood almost 50cm tall, and that was just in lettuce stage. Oh things were golden...then the slugs hit...almost demolished the smaller plant in a few days. I decided to spray with pyrethrum, something i must strongly recommend to everyone NOT TO DO I left the spray on for a few hours and hosed off. THe next day the slugs were back again, chomping away(i know they told all their friends about how good this new tucker was). Long story short, smaller plant dead. Bigger one a mere shadow of its former glory, and looking worse everyday. Just my advice to anyone planning on growing legal poppys next year, put fuc#ing heaps of snail pellets around them and dont use pyrethrum! Trip Dr

Sweet, a meet thats a little close to me! Hopefully im done exams by then, pretty sure i will be. Apo i know what you mean about saturday exams, they are the worst! Fortunately im pretty sure we only have one of those and thats for mid session. My bag of trade goodies will be small too, but i just want to meet other ppl. Like i've said before, i love spinning myself out about meeting ppl in the 'real' world There is a much greater chance of me getting to this one. As much as i want to go to the camping trip i just dont know if i can afford it. Petrol alone will cost easy $150! Back on topic, i really hope to get there though finding my way through the city will probably be the biggest challenge(damn country bumpkins!)

I reckon this is going to be a real spin . You can try and visualise all you want about what someone may look like from their writing style, how they talk etc. but in the end it always seems to turn out nothing like you expected! Unless you expect the unexpected! Actually that might be a way to combat such anxieties? I dont know how many times i've talked to people on the phone etc, only to meet them in person and have all my theories totally quashed! Its good fun though, dont worry i think most people here are shy, but im sure once we find some common interest we can chat about, all our reservations will drift away like a cloud of smoke ;)

Yeah i know what withdrawals are like. I know weed would be nothing compared to smack etc, but after 2 years of heavy smoking(1/2 oz per week) quiting was tough. Got serious night sweats for a couple weeks, and headaches all the time. Not to mention the shit thats going through your head. I know it is no consolation, but i think it took me a good month to fully get over it. After that was so much better, you dont realise how much clearer you head is. Way more emotionally stabe too. Thats just my experience though, and i still smoke every couple of weeks or so. Trust me, its waaay better. Effects are far superior. Moderation is the key.

bump Anyone from sydney area going for just the weekend or weekend or 3 day weekend??? Would love to get a lift, can share driving/fuel expenses of course.

Damn it! This thing sounds too good too miss! I know i said i couldnt make it before, but maybe i can squeeze a weekend in. I would really like to meet more people in person, i actually get a buzz out of it I get all wound up and shit thinking all kinds of crazy stuff, but in my very limited experience meeting ppl from here i have found it to be great ;) . Im sure the people i have met spun out just as much as i first did . Any Sydney ppl going for just the weekend? I could ride my bike, but i have no luggage rack. Oh yeah this is assuming of course no one has any objections to me attending, and it's all a big maybe right now.

Sounds good apo,i never tried damiana tea but find smoking produces little effect. Has a wonderful taste and smell though and makes a great spin i reckon. Will have to try out the tea, maybe in combo with some calea as a nightcap.

Word of advice, if you are planning on eating the stuff(i know you arent, its illegal remember ) but DONT dry it out! I had a dream once where i got two feet of t.pachanoi removed all spines, and cut the flesh away from the core and tough outer skin. This was dried in an oven, which took several hours and stank the house out. The resulting jerky was broken into small chips and these were washed down with water. Took ages to eat them all, and huge amounts of water, and almost gaging several times. After all that effort i only got a mild effect hours later. I later discovred that the most effective method is to just chop up the whole lot( even the spikes apparently ) and boil in water till it forms a sludge. Strain out the hard bits and try knock it down fast. Good luck!

Well i don't know cause i haven't been there, but Germany looks like its basically right next door to the Netherlands on my map. I'd just tell your mate to get on a bus/train/horse and go there. I mean it couldnt be more than a days drive could it? That way you eliminate the risk of either of you getting into trouble.

Hey all, im posting this on behalf of a friend in New Zealand. He has this salvia d. in a green house. Apparently its had spider mites or something attack it. I cant tell whats wrong with it or how to fix it because when it was legal all my attempts to grow it failed miserably! Can someone out there help out? People must remember from growing it before sheduling a few problems and remedys. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Trip Dr

Oh and i forgot to ask, what methods did people here find was a good for taking cuttings? I think i used to just do the old cut on a bit of an angle, stick it in water and wait till you see some root growth. This may be totally wrong as my success with cuttings was not very good!

Thanks for the tips all. I just got a message from my mate. He said when the spider mites attacked he cleaned the leaves with water then sprayed with pyrethium. He said soon after this the leaves dropped on mass. When it was still legal the best sally plant i ever had going was one inside next to a window. Loved it there! I had to move it outdoors for a few days, she got knocked over in heavy wind and unfortunatly never recovered. It was a sad day, and one i dont want my mate to have to go through. Cuttings will be taken to maximise chance of success. Many thanks everyone. Will keep you posted as to how it goes in the future.

Well apparently it was going alright for a while and then all the leaves fell off. I'll try get some more info from my mate so we can get a more accurate diagnosis. Cheers
