  1. Big thanks to those went to the meet! Unfortunately I was not able to make it due to a bout of gastro late last night. Pretty upset I missed it

Think it was around 10 people and plenty of plants shared around :)

I really do hope to do a camping trip for the next meet, maybe 2 nights? Get a whole 6-7 months to plan and take in suggestions.  (easter weekend looks good but downside is places will be booked out)

    Thoughts/suggestions?

  2. Since eBay, PayPal etc are no longer facilitating sales of "San Pedro" and "Peyote" etc and closing/freezing accounts and peoples money slowly but surely, the Sales Portal will be used to facilitate such sales/trades

I believe Torsten will post more info when it's running smoothly

I ordered some in April I still have not received them yet, have contacted AQIS and know they have not been intercepted, I also know that mail from there can take ages used to keep Killifish from South America and exchanged letters with some people in Brazil.

Have been close to contacting Haun about them, but have ADHD and autism and dont handle situations like this well.

Tell him you want it resent express or a refund. Seconding that, Flick me the name on your order and I can tell him for you.

There is at least 4 other Aussies I know who've had to go down this path in the last few weeks, all orders from around April.

I've been waiting a couple weeks just for a reply to our facebook conversation. Trying to get their deets for a Western Union transfer.

May I ask what method you guys used to make payment.  He told me they are no longer accepting paypal.

A platform called Transferwise. Correct, no paypal.

  4. I posted this in the facebook group before but also here...

My order from Chavin Herbalists finally arrived. What a saga that was:

Original order was made/paid for on 6/4/18 and shipped around 23-24/4/18 via standard mail. After 4 months of waiting I requested the package be re-shipped express. Sent via EMS, it arrived in 18 days.

The express package was missing 2 packets from the original order but I was only told that I would be 1 packet short. I received 3 packets that I didn't order as an olive branch. This is my experience with Huan Shuma and the South American mail system. My advice would be to get express shipping - it isn't cheap but at least you will get your seeds in a timely manner.

The communication from Huan was pretty average. I've also had mail from EU and US in under 14 days via standard mail but something from South America (Peru) takes 4 months? On par with the Italian mail system, which is an absolute joke. I've also had no letter from customs saying a package has been intercepted for destruction, so?

Anyway, if you are making an order from CH, beware things might not go smoothly

  5. Hey guys,

Just seeing if there are any beeks in Perth within the ranks? Just getting into it and looking to make friends. A bee friend took me to do hive inspections recently and was instantly hooked!

Picking up all the gear to put together a hive this weekend and then hopefully a mate can sort me out with a nuc hive to get it going. Getting a full depth 8 frame for brood and a 8 frame wsp as a super. So much to learn. Sitting here eating freshly harvested comb while watching videos and reading

    :)

I'm in! Would this camera set up be the best option? Even signs saying there were cameras could have a strong impact.

In my opinion (and experience) signs don't stop anyone. We have game cameras located on a few properties (w/ signs along the perimeter) I'm allowed to shoot on and still see trespassers in photos all the time. What's to say it would work for someone stripping bark? It'll happen regardless.

    We use these - https://www.toolmart.com.au/moondyne-mdtcam002.html

Great cameras with MMS/EMAIL capability for sending photos in real time

Govt depts like DPaW use these. Great units but a little on the pricey side. Excellent battery life and image quality - http://outdoorcameras.com.au/6/reconyx-hc600.html

Edit: have even had a few camera pinched over the years. Long list of others over east who have lost cameras on public land (hunters)

  7. My big ground patch that I've been meaning to do is bulk soil coming from a company local to me, mix of composts, coarse river sand, manure with added minerals and trace elements. I have also found that of all the pre-made soils you can buy in bags, Baileys Premium (red bags) is the best if you're lazy (and growing in pots)

As far as ferts go, I feed whatever I have. Blood and Bone, compost tea, even hydro nutes (like GTs Complete Focus or anything Canna (tis good shit)

Nice rich soil you have there Average Joe. I see you believe in rich soil for your Trichocereus as do I.

As for me, I grafted a bunch of hybrid babies6.thumb.jpg.3be542eaf9195508ddbb9073c5ce704b.jpg today after I found a caterpillar eating some of my newly grafted seedlings. Check out the hole on the side of this cacti...5b88984b824f5_ateeatalien.thumb.jpg.aa1aa69bab957e6429484a04364f3ff5.jpg

I've never understood the whole "it comes from shitty soils so lets just leave it as such" in cultivation. Just because it grows in said shit soil doesn't mean it's the best.

I feed the shit out of my trichs and have them in pretty nutrient and organic rich soils and they love it. Crazy not too really..

  10. Like I was saying to someone last week, what works for me might not work for someone else :)

I just throw grafts in my bathroom and they do okay! I've been looking at setting up another indoor tent with climate controls but that's probably a next year thing now.

I've run out of stock and scions for the time being anyway LOL
