It's sooo frustrating that the images are not clearer! How I wish these guys could have taken clearer photos!
-
I used google translator on that text, some in depth stuff!
-
Perhaps you could convert it to an ebook? iBooks uses ePub format, which would appeal to all iphone/ipad users? Should be straightforward, but I don't know what format it's in currently?

Bridge "Swelling" up? Becoming square/not star shaped (pics inside)
bit replied to Eluna's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Indicates it's well watered. Cacti should be kept like this in the growing season, but in winter not so much. What's the id on the one to the left of it btw? Also, some of the others are badly under-watered. -
Yowie in NZ, first is my plant, second is the parent it came from ;)
-
It's rotten. I'd cut the pup off and throw the rest away, including the soil. Had the same happen to a plant when a cat peed in the pot.
-
Dude that scop is freakin strange. Never seen anything like it.
-
Thoughts going out to all those affected down there I'm nearly 800km away but I'm sure some of our members are in our around the city. Hope you and your families are ok :|
-
Bit too small to distinguish between patch and scop. Post pic in 2 years. It is sunburnt though.
-
Tip has been badly sunburnt. It will recover, but will always have a narrow bit where the burn is. I would do a horizontal cut just below the burn and let it throw out pups.
-
Looks similar to the plants labelled as T. chiolensis by Martin - I haven't purchased one yet so haven't made a really close inspection though.
-
Interesting you are able to use a paper towel - I tried that once and the seed stuck to it and woudn't come off! I had to resort to wetting the paper towel, and ended up with paper towel pulp as well as fruit pulp!

Hubba hubba!! :drool2:

The family have disowned us when it comes to moving time (hopefully later this year) 1) Bridgesii corner: 2) Around the back: 3) Yowie flower bud madness 4) Mel's crosses waiting for new pots 5) Scop - if you don't have scop yet, I highly recommend you get some. It has the biggest most fragrant flowers of all my Trichs which have flowered so far. And cuttings flower from under a meter. And it fruits easily - see two fruit on this already: 6) Pachanoi doing it's thing The main herd - I will retake this pic later when the sun's moved around a bit so you can see more detail: 7)

Awesome! One day my plants will be like this!
-
You're welcome to come visit if you're in Auckland at all
-
As I posted at the nook, believe it to be a X based on my experience with Scop here. Peculiar "damage", kinda looks like insect damage in the pics (not that I've ever seen insects do that), but real life is probably different.
-
Thanks MS, mutant - beer's on me when you come to visit! I'll be sitting here separating a bazillion seedlings for the next few years, so don't be concerned if you don't get here for a while :D
-
Nope, it's on the "illegal to import" list. That is the first publicly offered specimen I've ever seen.
-
Its in fruit now, you can have the fruit, i cant be assed extracting the seeds again lol ;)
-
Hey man, just a correction - seeds are this thing (maybe even the exact fruit in the pic), which is just a weird pachanoi, not yowie, crossed with a random scop (this was as I got it, I cut up and repotted after pic was taken) Great to know the seed's viable, I've still not planted any of my own
-
Tough one, I'm going with Myrtillocactus geometrizans ps. we have a dedicated ID sub-forum ;)
-
Definitely keep both the pup and parent plant out of the rain until well dried over. Rainwater is filthy dirty.
-
Good to hear man. Sorry I've been slack with my seedlings, pots arrived last week but I'm back at work now, will need to start potting in the evenings!
-
I have both kinds, both flower. My tall one is in flower at the moment, but have nothing to cross it with to get fruit. My short one is a cutting of a much larger plant which flowered a month ago.
