    Holy Woodlovers!

Agreed, I also don't rule out the idea of azures totally, but I highly doubt it. And even less likely to be Subs. They're probably either Cyans or possibly THIS SPECIES which has been popping up around that area.

    nitrous bulbs and dispensers

If you have a really well used nang dispenser, that has been used for nothing else but nangs, wipe your finger on the inside of the chamber and have a look.... After being shown this I pretty much quit them on the spot.

    growing edible mushrooms

Good question, and I have been wandering the same thing - but I think eucalypt and jarrah would be fine.

    looking for spore prints/syringes

Specifically, when looking for the actual needle 'tips', the different sizes are measured as a 'gauge', represented as G. The higher the gauge, the thinner the needle, and the harder it is to use when sucking up spores etc. For mycology you want to be aiming for around a 16-18G, but up to 22G can be used - though it becomes harder especially when working with liquid cultures, as the live mycelium clogs up the thinner needles a lot quicker. Don't go any higher than 22G, and only use that size as a last resort anyway. The reservoir, or the body of the needle can be any size you want - bearing in mind that if you want to inoculate a lot of jars, its going to be easier to fill one larger reservoir once than it is to fill a smaller one many times, so aim for at least 10cc or higher, 20cc is nice and 60cc is heaven. There's some info HERE, not myco related though it covers all the terms well.

Fucking aye EGA!! (from Tarnicus and El Duderino)

I also want to add that it was great to meet all the crew that I did from here - awesome creative beings, all very cool indeed. Its good to put a face to all these internet personalities, and was cool to see Torsten in his element and put a face to that avatar also. G'day Hebrew, Yowie, Luke, Jono, Fenris, {E} etc. etc. And it was great to hang with the crew I have already met but got a chance to get to know even better. Congrats Naja on the 2nd prize - the plant gods must have been shining down on you... You better make it along to the next doof to hang up your banner!

    My new glove box

The 'kirby' vacuum cleaner uses hepa bags - the authentic ones at least, not the cheaper copies. Your pretty safe with that box though I reckon, if you were going to go that extra step you may as well go all out and make a proper flow hood, then never have to worry about contams again!

Massive post, but you explained the situation *beautifully*. Very cool fun ideed, we must have experienced the same thing at the same time - and although I wasn't 'lifted' at the time, simply being in that situation made me feel like I was! Breathtakingly bizarre and surreal, and the soundscape music was simply epic - very moving, and IMO even more so than music with a beat! This was one of the highlights for me for sure... Tonnes of them - they just kept appearing out of the bush - it must be their keen sense of smell.... Its all been said already, but seriously Ronny and all involved - the space you created on the weekend was immensely special. Incredible energy, fantastic location - I hope all the reports from the owners of the land were positive. I really didnt want to leave, and have been buzzing since. Congrats and thankyou.

    ID Help Please

Agreed gecko, first one is likely Russula sp., but better photos are definitely needed. The second one is 100% certainly NOT a Psilocybe.

    FNNSW/SEQ FINDS !!!!

*phew* Finally, I saw a new post before I opened this thread, and if it was going to be another claim of a spectacular find without any pics I think I would have imploded... Amazing pics! Crazy that all 3 active species were growing from the SAME pat! Madness.... How do you rate the Pan subb experience??

    Going from a print

Streak some agar plates, then as they germinate take a small piece of un-contammed myc from them and transfer this to another clean agar plate. Continue to make isolations like this until you grow only clean healthy myc.
  23. I found this today in a typical, run of the mill supermarket in the suburbs. They had a couple of plants and a handful of these little pots with various cacti in, and I saw this there (it was the only one) - If it is what I think it is, look at the price tag - Cheers in advance...
  24. haha - I'm glad I am not the only one to make such a mistake. They do look very similar thats for sure... I picked up sopmething else at the market on the weekend that I am a lot more sure of, will post a pic asap.
  25. Bummer. Thanks guys. Thought it was too good to be true... I am a cactus novice, but this will make a nice addition to the garden nevertheless - Cheers.
