Sent some samples away to be tested, below are pics of the samples and the test results. These were tested by - http://alvalab.es who i can recommend as a very good business where you can get samples tested.
I encourage people to do this, pay a couple bucks and get your mushrooms tested.
Subs from an isolated area, Eucalyptus forest, restricted area, so very little foot traffic etc...
Sent these as the 'control' sample so i had results to compare the other two samples to. (lol)
Gill freaks, growing in a dark pine forest, pines are probs, 10+ yrs old, pines in this spot previously felled and re planted.
White gills, growing in an open pine coup, felled a couple of years ago and replanted with new pines
The tef sequences for the three samples, 1, 2 and 3, in that order
Knowing nothing about DNA results or how to interpret them i fwd'd the results to a couple people who do, thank you to those people.
Conclusion is -
sample 1 - 100% P. subaeruginosa
sample 2 - 98% P. subaeruginosa
sample 3 - 98% P. subaeruginosa
Interestingly i found out during this that there has not been enough work done with P. subaeruginosa to reference these results against other P. subaeruginosa results.
Results from P. cyanescens which P. subaeruginosa are very closely related are used to asses subaeruginosa DNA results.
This is how i understand it, though i may be wrong.

I had a similar issue trying to insure a flash car.
was not able to insure the car due to a recent conviction, had all our shit insured with this company for a number of years, the insurance company had themselves a little meeting and decided that they would insure the vehicle after all as the offence that attracted the conviction though meaty wasn't too serious. We then had them confirm that this approval covers any policies we have with them.
Its good that your mum found the clause in the fine print Saylor.

I first found these mushrooms in 2012, I've gone back to the same 1m x 1m patch in a pine coup on a hill side for the last 5 years to check them out, they have fruited every season except for 2015. I think they are def a psilocybe, they stain blue when wet and dry.
Subaeruginosa are fairly prolific in this pine coup and grow and fruit in the vicinity of this patch of gill freaks.
There are only a couple of mushrooms each year from the gill freak patch.
Successfully cultivated the myc in a home garden patch to see if the gill anomaly is genetic of environmental.
Turns out its genetic. They are growing on willow and eucalyptus in the garden patch and in strait pine in the wild patch, so its not substrate influencing their external morphology
These pics are from the garden patch, 2015.
The caps do print so the mushrooms are not sterile.
I don't think its an albino mushroom. They have the same appearance and colour every time they fruit.
I find sterile subs often and their gills are white but normal, these don't drop spores.
So imo its a psilocype sp, the sample has been sent for testing so we will know soon.

bloody nice pics spooge, keep em coming mate
its a fairly dry start to the season my way, doesn't stop the subs though.
a sample of these are off to be dna tested, to confirm what they are.
defo a psilocybe, but is it a sub?

subaeruginosa phenotypes that were DNA tested and the results
in Mycology
Posted
I wanted to have these mushrooms tested as they are different from the run of the mill differening phenotypes amongst subaeruginosa that occur where I am, we get all kinds of subs, white gills, odd caps, weird stypes.
Though I had the 3 samples tested I'm being told by a leading Psilocybe mycologist that I have at least 2 different species. I'm told also that I should have had ITS sequences done as they are more variable and that there are ITS sequences of p. subaeruginosa on Genbank to refference. Hopefully this guy can find the sample of the crazy gills I sent him so he can do the ITS sequences, if not I will get more samples this season and get them ITS sequenced.
