Thunderhorse is correct, it's Leucocoprinus birnbaumii. Toxic if ingested, but beneficial to plants.

Anyone else vaping or using ecigs/ejuice? Lets talk :)

That's a really nice looking box. Do you plan on building with titanium? I hear it's a huge improvement on kanthal, better taste, denser clouds, longevity of both coil and cotton, all with longer lasting battery and lower juice use. -
A hard-on? I know I have.

I guess it's trying to tell me something! I'll degraft it soon, I swear! This was bought from Koehres as pachanoi seed several years ago. I honestly don't know what to call it, it looks like cuzcoensis, but the spine bases aren't swollen. A mutt probably?

How to induce flowering in cacti, hormones, gibberellic acid, photoperiodism, plant biostimulants etc
Berengar replied to Dreamwalker.'s topic in Cacti & Succulents
Definitely worth trying. I'll force feed a few trichs next spring as well. -

Has anyone tried this MSG thing?? -
Fatalii. By far. Aroma and taste are far superior to any other chili, even all habanero sorts, and heat level is perfect for me, not too hot, but spicy enough. I just sliced a few in half a week ago to dry, and the whole house is smelling of them still. EDIT: Oh yeah, when I say fataliis are 'not too hot', that's only by my standards, they are hotter than any habanero I've tried, in the range of some jolokias, so take that into the account if you don't like it too hot.

Graft the white one ASAP!! It's either albino or variageted, and could never survive on it's own roots. Not sure what's going on with the Ario, if it's still firm and healthy, graft it as well, just to be sure.

I don't like being judgmental, and that includes not judging people who are. She is perfectly entitled to her opinion. Different people have different preferences, the best thing we can do is accept those differences and live our own lives, but if some can't, oh well. My sense for aesthetics is severely underdeveloped, and I only look at grafting from the perspective of usefulness. To categorically deny there is any usefulness or any skill involved in grafting would be incorrect in my opinion. But to each their own. Maybe in another 30 years, when I'm all grown up, I'll dislike grafts as well. -

Hm, I was considering doing that too, but I'm afraid the Opuntia would rot if buried much deeper into the soil. -

That's very impressive! My climate is much more restrictive, and even someone with much better horticultural skills, and if all other conditions were perfect, would probably achieve half that size in the same time. But your skill is undeniably great, regardless of the climate. I have to substitute my poorer climate and lack of own-root growing skill with grafting, it works for me just fine. -

Thanks for the reply! I was considering istick 50 earlier (btw it's half the price on fasttech), but now there is istick 60 available, pretty much the same chip with temperature control and some other improvements. Main thing I didn't like in istick 50 was fixed battery, this one uses one 18650, which is my preference. I do intend to use sub ohm and probably TC as well, 60 watts should be plenty of power for that, no? So I'm looking for devices in that range. Right now I have istick 30W and Innoking itaste mvp 20W with Kanger aerotanks, and am getting a subtank soon, and I'm quite satisfied with them for outside use, but would like something more powerful. Actually what I really want is a mod in which I can take 3 spare batteries with me and use it without thinking when I'll be close to a plug, and there's no sense in getting another 30W mod for the same price. And I'm in Europe, most vape shops here sell mostly small 'cigarette' styled vaporizers, and the mods they have are outdated and 3X the price from China. How are you satisfied with the M80? Koopor is an offshoot of Smok, I heard their quality and performance are quite similar. -

I got it's message and it will be growing on it's own roots from next year. However, it was grafted as a tiny 2 week old seedling a year and a half ago, others from the same sowing are now about 5 cm tall with juvenile areoles and spines still. So grafting most definitely served it's purpose. Btw, I got one A. myriostigma grafted onto Myrtillocactus geometrizans to flower exactly 45 days from sowing (30 days to produce a bud), and in that time it was the size of at least a 3 year old myriostigma grown on it's own roots. -

Hey guys, anyone got any suggestions what would be a good ~50W TC mod to buy, up to $40 US or so? Only condition is that it has to run on 18650 battery. There are a lot of new devices coming out in the next few months so I'll wait a bit longer, but Cloupor mini plus looks good to me, as well as Eleaf 60W, Koopor mini and IPV D2. Anyone using these devices or any from those brands? Which has the best reputation? -

Thanks EG, I assumed these are from Kniže. I like it a lot, especially this blue epidermis - white long spine combination, it will be an impressive plant when it grows up. -

Too spiny?!? I have a misplant validus X peruvianus that looks very similar to your one, and am also considering giving it away because it's not nearly spiny enough for me!

Anything thick enough to support a scion should work OK, grandiflorus, pteranthus, macdonaldiae etc., or one of the many hybrids. But like in Trichocereus, certain clones behave differently, so it's good to find one that is well suited for your climate, that is the main difference in Selenicereus, most grow very quickly and accept scions readily.

Selenicereus for young seedlings (1 weeks to 3 months old), Harrisia and Trichocereus as a permanent rootstock (for Ariocarpus and Turbinicarpus for example). Pereskioskiopsis for fast growing columnar species. Astrophytum does wonderfully on 5 cms of Selenicereus for at least 3 years.
-
Whatever floats your boat. I personally don't care about prizes and competitions, and I'd much rather have a mature looking plant within a year, than wait five years for it to show it's mature characteristics. It's very easy to degraft and root a plant after that.

Can anyone help me ID this cactus?

Taquimbalensis I think. -

If Astrophytum is fast growing, and Lophophora is fast growing, what would you consider a slow growing genus?
