Degrafted this little baby because it started to seriously bend the Pereskiopsis it was on. And this way it can start it's next season on it's own roots and in full sun. I expect it to become even more beautiful in those conditions, but at this point I can hardly see how's that even possible...
  2. "Trichocereus tacaquirensis TB 551.2" from SuccSeed. Mutant, would you say this is var. wilkae, or not, or is it still too early to say?
  3. Those are beautiful EG, one of my favorite crosses! Stunning blue epidermis, 10cm long flourescent yellow spines, grows up to 70 cm per season and thicker than most of my trichs. I'll get some more pics before I cut it this autumn for propagation. Btw, is that scop X puquiensis also one of nitrogens? If so, do you perhaps have a photo of the puquiensis, nitrogen? One of those is also one of my favorites, just about a meter tall but very thick already.

What did you do to your cacti today?

Stomped angrily on a few dozen snails this morning. Why the f#$% do they just slime over all the succulent Pereskiopsis leaves and go straight to the top for the young beautiful scion that has just decided to start growing?!? Good thing inverterbrates don't respond to torture, otherwise I wouldn't be able to look myself in the mirror again after I'd finished with them...
  5. Awesome contest EG! I'd really like to get in on this, but I think I'd rather give a chance to someone without a long and dark winter infront of them.

Share your "Shamanic weapon" bases for that added tribality feel

I get a warm and fuzzy 'the power of nature' feeling whenever I hold this blade.

Share your "Shamanic weapon" bases for that added tribality feel

Does a Nepalese kukri count as 'shamanic'?
  8. That was a truly beautiful cactus Mr, so sorry it died. Same thing happened to me with one of zelly's macrogonus X Helen, it started growing nicely, was pure white like yours, and suddenly just turned black and died overnight, seemingly without a cause.

    Hi (New Member Intro)

What some would consider a 'recreational drug' others might consider a powerful medicine. For example, if it wasn't for the help of a certain 'psychedelic' compound, I would never be able to get rid of my severe 15 year long depression, and would very likely be dead by now. Not trying to argue or belittle your views, just saying there can be another side to those 'drugs'. For the record, I don't use any drugs anymore, recreational or otherwise, because I no longer feel the need for them. As far as cacti go, I wouldn't call myself a 'collector', I just love growing them for their beauty and powerful life force, without any desire to 'use' them, and I honestly believe many here feel the same.
  10. As the title states, I'm looking mainly for various Corryocactus species, brevistylus, melanotrichus etc., Azureocereus hertlingianus, Oreocereus, Pilosocereus and most of the other columnar species, as well as Lobivia, Ferocactus, Stenocactus.... So if you have a couple seeds extra (5 would do, I graft most seedlings), please shoot me a PM. I have various Trichocereus species and hybrids, and many hot pepper strains for trade. Forgot to mention, I'm in the EU. Cheers!

    Grafts -Photos & Updates

Terscheckii X peruvianus. Looking more like terscheckii than pure terscheckii.

Validus 1, less than a month later, nearly doubled in size. Beautiful as ever. Probably one of the most beautiful trich I've seen in a long time. Werdermannianus 3, growing and looking lovely as well.
  13. Here's one of Solaritea's terscheckii JS354 X peruvianus 'Jessica. Most of the others seem to exhibit a similar coloration. Seriously extraordinary plant IMO.
  14. Has anyone tried growing some of Solaritea's terscheckii hybrids? Both the tersc x PC and x peru produced almost 100% yellow 'albinos' for me. Many died, but I managed to graft a couple, they are beautiful. This is from one of the mother plants, I fforgot the code. Anyone had the same experience?
  15. I think my heart just stopped there for a second... This is AMAZING!! And hell yes I want some! Btw, I tried at least 5 P0 x N1 grafts and they all failed, like they thought they would be too awesome to exist. Still have several seeds tough, will give it another try.

    trichocereus seedling giveaway

Pim, yous trollin or what?? Please explain the rules for your awesome giveaways!
  17. I used to smoke roll-ups for years and never had stained lips. Do you put some kind of filter in there? I always had, perhaps that minimizes staining. Brown fingers on the other hand are just a normal part of smoking imo. Recently started vaping and had a heureka moment, all the benefits of nicotine, without the negatives of smoking, like horrible stench and shortness of breath.

Getting the vibe- mushroom IDs needed

Am on my phone atm so can't see the pictures in all their glory, but you've got (in order), Volvopluteus gloiocephalus, Leucopaxillus sp., Tubaria, Lepista, Entoloma, Agrocybe and Gymnopus.
  19. Peres are much more temperature sensitive than Trichocereus, I personally don't even bother grafting below 25 degrees anymore. Buy yourself a cfl lightbuld, 20-50 W, that should provide sufficient light and heat for the grafts to take.
  20. From my experience with grafting, which is relatively extensive, thats way too cold. It also depends on the stock species, and the vegetative state it's in. I think you could expect 50% success rate at most.
  21. Q. ilex supsp. ilex is native here so I could probably get you a truckload of acorns (they are ripe in september), not sure if they would be allowed in Australia tough. You considered Q. pubescens? It's said to be one of the prefered hosts for truffles. Are you going to try some on hazel for quicker fruit production? .

Anyone else vaping or using ecigs/ejuice? Lets talk :)

I just recently got an istick 30w with Kanger aerotank, and I love it. Previously used an Evod. Am thinking of ordering a Subtank, but would the advantages outweigh the negative aspects? Is sub-ohm rig really worth it? My favorite flavours right now are red bull and menthol.

    Tuber melanosporum culture

Do you have a good agar recipe for culturing truffles? I think there's one in a book by a doctor of mycology who was the first (and only one afaik) to successfully grow a white truffle (Tuber magnatum) I have back home, I can post it in a month or two if you want it. I'm sure you know, but for anyone who thought it's the same as with any other mushroom, cloning truffles isn't just a simple piece of flesh on a plate of MEA. Lots of inorganic salts and chemicals are needed, as well as perfect pH.

Validus 1 Werdermannianus 3 I think I'm in love with both of them.

Preventing a micropup from drying out?

I'd just force feed it insane amounts of nitrogen to force it to pup and grow. Personally I don't think humidity chamber would help much, it's probably dying from the inside because of it's defective genes.
