Announcing the Australian Ethnobotanical Society
upside replied to theuserformallyknownasd00d's topic in News & Notices
Here is something I came up with today. Hope u like, it can be simplified if needed. Duboisia Hopwoodii... -
Hi everyone, I just looked at the pics from last meet, that island is fantastic! I love getting out in the bush, smelling of campfire, getting dirty, exploring or just chilling with nature. One day I'll hopefully meet this community in person and join you at one of these gatherings sometime. Being isolated on the lower chin in WA, it may take time. Anyway, I see a great group of individuals with spirit and sense of family. Top shelf ethnoheads!

Announcing the Australian Ethnobotanical Society

Hey bogfrog,, to get a symetrical drawing, unless u like a challenge, draw a vertical line lightly, the sketch one half,, photocopy or trace that image, then use the copy, place and match it to the other side and trace or copy. Voila, a symetrical drawing Hope that makes sense? -
Hey there,, cheers for the welcome it's great to be here too. I've been making myself at home,, hope that's ok lol

That's strange, as in the past I had 2 lil cupboards, one with foil and another with white paint, and when I put my head in each one,, I had to squint more from the light in the white interior cupboard. Does this not mean there is more light reflected and not lost with white interiors? Correct me if I'm wrong, it just seemed visually obvious. Maybe lumens are better reflected with tinfoil? Anyone
-
I may be late with an idea,, but if you can, IME white acrylic paint instead of tin foil inside the box,, the light will be better reflected of the walls back onto your plants. Hope its going well.

Hi everyone,, here's my some of my children. made this shelter recently. in carport. a.cuminata and d.illinoensis m.hostilis,, and e.nevadensis poking head thru soil. I'll include some others later when I get more pics,, so good to be here and share what I love with other likeminded peeps. Cheers! -
Whether its potted or placed in ground, I'm sure it will start to stand upright again,, probably never straighten,, but be a sweet, curvy and twisted specimen. It may be damaged on the bends and provide a place for new pup(s)?...

secrets of hand shake, hug, hand kissing and social etiquette

I have to say tho,, once I know you and we are comfortable,, handshakes end up being random silly combinations as a point of respect and value between mates. -

A great way for myself to join the forums, cheers PH so this is what I would do. "G'day",, or "hello" or something like that I would say, look u in the eye and extend my hand out for the shake. Somewhat firm, not dominant or submissive. I'm "upside" how are ya? :-) I couldn't do this when I was a fair bit younger, I felt weird. Since I started doing it more frequently, I felt heaps more confident, and proud. But that's how it was when I grew up, shaking hands was the Aussie bloke way. Things have changed, yet I do it the old way haha I like to watch the homie hand shakes, but I'm a down for the old school style with the shake. As for ladies, a nice hand shake, or if I know the person a hug or even a kiss on cheek. With a Cheers :-) -
Hi all, wow, Avil's are still available? i thought they were removed from the shelves years ago...

Centre cuttings: propagate vertically or horozontally?
upside replied to bongoman's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I've read by getting them to root horizontally, the chance of more pups increases. couldn't hurt to try if you have a few pieces. Vertically placed you will/should have a great success rate. Make sure the ends are hard and calloused before you put them in tho. -
I just sprouted about 14 a.acuminata narrow phylode variety, but the fun in finding them in nature is quite a learning curve. I've seen a few around lately, my hopes rise then I notice the round flowers.. damn haha the adventure continues.... More reading, more looking...
