    encouragement/advice on removing pups

I didn't want to hack too much off the stock which is why I removed only the areoles,, but next time I'll make it a more larger angled single slice, point understood about water being able to collect. Thanks for advice.
  2. Hi all, needing some encouragement or advice if pups should be removed from base of grafted scion.. I'm thinking if left on they'll slowly push main graft up and possibly off the stock? Or at least impale the pups on spines. I'm ok with grafting some removed and even trying to root a couple on their own. Yet if they can be left no problems I'd be happy just let them boost more growth as is. I've bought some David Grays powdered sulfur today ready for the removal if need be. Anyway here's some pics,, thanks for any advice :-)

    encouragement/advice on removing pups

Hi EG,, I only sliced about an hr ago,, do u mean remove more of the flesh from the stock under the scion down to the spines that are still there, or even remove more spines as well as more flesh under the scion?

    encouragement/advice on removing pups

Thanks for responses,, I've only had this a few days, so I can't take any credit for the choice of stock or anything about this graft, apart from my purchasing it lol I believe root stock is T.Candicans :-) I've only just started grafting, things are looking good so hopefully show my efforts in a few weeks. Back on topic, I had a cupl beers and felt brave enough to slice some of the lower pups off, dust with sulfur and remove some spines. Here's my results :-) I feel pretty comfortable with what I've done,, the larger pups I'm thinking of trying for their own roots and smaller pups of those grafting onto pere.

    Flower photo heavy 2014 season

My turbinicarpus lophophoroides,, In the carport there is not quite enough light for the flower to fully open from past experience. So I moved it outside
  16. Good to see they're still going myco. Couldn't believe how tiny they were, I was impressed with how you managed to graft something the size of a grain of salt onto the pere! I'll be sowing some in the next cupl weeks :-)
  17. Ok I'll definitely take that into consideration when planting out anywhere. I may have a go at cultivating them in pots. That'll keep me busy, along with all the other projects haha could be a nice lil money spinner down here also ;-) Google showed alot of colours under the search Peruvian Lily.
  18. ^ Haha that is awesome magical9 :-) I can imagine it,, is there some sort of deal we can come to,, I must have more!! Will work for cactus!
