  1. quote:

Not sure if this is a valid assumption as I believe there is a inverse relationship between intelligence and happiness

    hmm

    not so sure

I was refering to a correlation between depression and intelligence which is one of those things you just sort of know without knowing where you picked it up.

Doing a quick google search and it certainly doesn't seem to be as strong a link as I previously thought.

  2. it requires the assumption that the truth will set u free - or at least give u the selective evolutionary advanatge

Not sure if this is a valid assumption as I believe there is a inverse relationship between intelligence and happiness

Of course you could argue that happiness is not our natural state or that it does not give us a evolutionary advantage although I think it does.

Knowing the above I have settled on a very simple strategy to reduce my intelligence.

    ALCOHOL

  3. INTJ

    very expressed introvert

    moderately expressed intuitive personality

    moderately expressed thinking personality

    moderately expressed judging personality

For once I can enjoy being in the majority.

I especially like the descriptions given in the link that comes up with the score.

    Didn't know I was a mastermind

  4. monsanto are responsible for some big scandals but these have nothing to do with GMOs

Sure due to the huge public outcry they have not managed to pollute our enviroment with GMO's yet but I think that past behaviour is the best measure of how they might behave in the future and this leaves me less then sure they will act resposibly

    we can limit toxic pesticides,

It seems that GM will have the opposite result as they make thinks resistant to pesticides so you can drench the ground in them and not hurt the plant you are trying to grow i.e roundup ready GMO's. Not to mention the risk of this resistance to pesticides passing on to weeds.

I am not against GM per say but it should be done in labs and not in fields with only a 100 metre buffer between similar plants

  5. I generally find those who are anti-gm are either not in understanding the objective science involved to get to the gm plant, or too focused on what may happen instead on what will probably happen. The fear is sparked by speculation. The confidence is sparked by realisation.

DO you have any idea of how much pollution Monsanto is allready responsible for on this planet. Don't think there is a single place on this planet they haven't managed to polloute.

I would be less concerned about GM if the GM companies did not as first order of business ensure they are free of any future liabilities for any unitended consequensces.

Would this be necessary if they thought there products are totally safe.

  6. And you never answered my question. If you were the President of the USA and your home soil had been attacked, What would YOU do?

What I would do is , firstly understand everything related to that event.

Once I understood what had happened I would ensure that all future actions did not contribute to the likelyhood that something like that would happen again.

  7. I doubt you could convert a 'normal' car into one which uses Hydrogen.

From my understanding Hydrogen in used by the fuel cell to produce electricity. It is not combusted.

When we eventually have Hydrogen cars you can bet your bottom dollar that we are going to be paying to refuel our cars with hydrogen.

i'd love to get around knowing that i'm not paying one cent on fuel!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    try a bike

  8. Wondering about our rate of motion taking into account 1. Rotation of the earth 2. Rotation around the sun 3. Rotation of the Milky Way 4. Expansion of the Universe.

Will eventually work this out when I am in a more rational mindset, but figured someone might have already worked it out

  9. On a side note, if anyone is looking for an interesting read have a look at any of Ken Wilber's work. He is seeks to intergrate East and West and then some,

I think his book called "no boundaries" (or something very similar) to be the most profound book I have read and understood.

I am sure there is many more profound books out there but this one seemed perfectly framed for my level of understanding at the time

  10. What I meant was that the fundamentals of buddhism seem to be very much in line with Quantum physics. ie the interconnection of everything in the universe and also the connection between the observer and the observed.

From memory the was a book call "Tao of Physics " by Fitjrof Capra which dwelved into the amazing similarities between eastern mysticism and quantum physics.

  11. Commiserations Bluemeanie.

I also had to put down my dog recently.

Had her for 14 years and even though she could hardly move she did not whinge.

Held it together until the deed was done so she wouldn't pick up any vibes from me.

I do a pretty good job of ignoring pain and my feeling but hurts every time I open up the front door and not see her faithfully guarding the house.

  12. The pi one was interesting, because even people who I went to school with and knew that I did a higher level of maths than them tried convincing me I was wrong. Like I'd never seen pi before or something.

I thought Pi was a infinite regression so therefore you where wrong about the last digit being 4 as I assume you mean the 4 in 3.14
