  1. My mate came over again today, and in the light of day, he said he was wrong the night before and it wasn't baileyana. I don't think it's mearnsii either. Anyway, I'm not really that fussed about knowing. I don't even really know why I posted this except that I was fucked. It should suffice to say that I shouldn't be let near my computer in that state.

  2. I'm very intoxocsate right tnoew, so I will appoloogise in adbanse fo ths post if it doesn't make sense or anyth8ing. I have an A. Baileyana and one of my mates who is a horticulrurlist came obeer last night and I asked hime what our acacias that grow where our hedge burnt down are. And they are in the back garden too. They have pipinnate leaves and sead pods. But I have never seen them flower. Mu mate said it could a Baileyana but just not getting enough sun and is immatture, but I am skeptrical. It does not have an7y bluishness on it like my baileyana does, And I would expect it to flower brightly as it gets a decent amoung of Melbourne sun. I don't think this poxst means anything. Just ignore me!

...wait...hold on. That DID make sense.

    lol

    :)

...wait. There's no question. Does anyone know what this might be? (the plant that is). I know it's vague, but this thing grow like a weed so it's probably common.

P.S. I'm feeling a lot better now, but I think I'll leave the above as is. It adds a bit of flavour!

  3. Being smoke free has made my life so much better. I used to smoke tobacco (tailors while out, and tailors emptied out into a bong while at home). I quit temporarily a couple of times, and then one time I started again I didn't start the ciggies again. I've always liked bacci-bongs better, and It greatly reduced the amount I was smoking because I would go the whole day at work without smoking and wouldn't smoke at pubs or anything. Not that it's illegal, but it's not socially acceptable to smoke from a bong and you'd get a lot of negative attention from cops if you walked down the street ripping baccies! Plus, even if I was at home, I would only go through a couple of decks a week, whereas with ciggies I'd go through that in a day. I was also smoking marijuana for a lot of this time, and continued to smoke pure green bongs after I quit tobacco. Eventually I gave up the green too, which I found a hell of a lot harder than giving up tobacco. I find that tobacco only has psychological withdrawel symptom (which may very well have a physical trigger) but marajuana has physical and psychological withdrawel symptoms (including profuse sweating, possibly mild fever, unusual body odour, and insomnia).

Anyway, back to the point. I don't mind people smoking around me, and I kinda like the smell. I am not TOO worried about the passive smoking thing because although tobacco contains more carcinogens than many other substances, I don't think it is that much worse than being around an incense stick or near a barbeque. Clubs are different however. After eight hours at a nightclub, I invariably have black shit in every facial orafice. I often get sick after clubbing too. I believe that this degree of passive smoking is worse than smoking itself, because even when I WAS a smoker I would notice these problems as much as I do now.

Australian laws are very strict and I think it's a very good thing. As long as a persons right to what he/she wants in his/her own home is not compromised (as it has been with regards to many other substances  , I am fine with smoking restrictions and always have been, even when I was a smoker. Restaurants generally adhere to these new laws, but clubs generally find ways to get around them and even when the rules are in place in a club they are rarely satisfactorally enforced.

I might add, that my girlfriend quit smoking tobacco too (she still accasionally smokes green, but she has never smoked it very often, so it isn't a big problem for her) and she feels nausious when anyone smokes around her even in open air from a distance where all you get is the odour and not the smoke itself.

  4. Hey all. This post is gonna reveal my status as a complete noob, but here goes.

What is that ipomoea that is really common in Melbourne (and probably everywhere else). It grows as a weed alongside trainlines and in a lot of parks and gardens. It looks like heavenly blue, but has 'pig hoof' instead of heart shaped leaves. I think maybe it's I. Indica, but that's only a guess from looking at pictures on the net. Does this Ipomoea, whatever it is, contain any LSAs? My guess would be no, because otherwise everyone would be talking about it, and people would not go to so much trouble to get I. tricolour.

Also, does I. tricolour ALWAYS have heart shaped leaves? I have seen an ipomoea in someones yard that I took to be I. tricolour and was tempted to ask the owners if they could part with a cutting, but then noticed that some of the leaves were 'pig hoof' leaves and decided it probably wasn't I. tricolour. This genus seems to me to be very difficult to I.D. compared to a lot of others, but then again - like I said - I'm a noob.

I need a climber and I love the look of these plants, but I (of course) want one that has entheogenic properties too. I also don't want one that will take over, be difficult to control, and be hard to get rid of should I so choose. I am guessing that the common one that I see everywhere will have those negative properties. Thanks in advance for any help.

  5. I used a commercial one of these once on a very mild lsd trip, and I had very profound hallucinations. There is a shareware one here http://www.innerworlds.50megs.com/downloads.htm I have not made the glasses yet, so I don't know if this one works or is as easy to build as it looks. They are meant to give you hallucinations even without drugs, but I have never used them while sober so I would not know. I used the flasher program on this website while on a dxm trip and had crazy hallucinations and the brainwave generator (pcm mind) would be excellent for this too. Has anyone out there also had success with this sort of device? Maybe you could post links to other ideas for 'tripping toys' if you know of any. Lucid dreaming glasses are something I have never used that I would be interested hearing about also. Also everyday object can be used with great effect. I used to use a red, flickering bike light (in total darkness) while on lsd to illuminate objects, particularly peoples faces, and the way things look under that strobing, pure-red light is out of this world. Any thoughts or comments on this subject?

  6. My mum went and said it was awesome. These reforms amaze me for the fact that they are SO unpopular and the government usually manages to convince the public that bad ideas are good ideas (gst, mandatory detention). These reforms may actually be a blessing in disguise. They could be the undoing of this government.

  7. I have trouble sleeping. I'm not really an insomniac, as I always end up getting enough sleep. I just can't sleep at the right times. I used to be a baker and this certainly compounded the problem as it was full time night shift. I have tried sublingual melatonin tablets and I didn't find them helpful at all. I tried them for a few weeks and only noticed that when I AM tired it just made me feel worse, rather than helping me sleep. But I often have trouble switching of my brain when I need to sleep. I have tried a valerian sleep formula too and I noticed no effects whatsoever. The only thing that has ever helped has been mj, but I don't use that anymore, and so my sleeping's been pretty bad for the last eight months or so. I have thought about trying prescription sleeping pills, but had heard about the hangovers and whatnot, and thought I'm probably better off trying meditation or something to help me learn to turn my brain off.

  8. okay, thanks guys. I guess I don't have much to worry about, but I might get a digital camera anyway. I didn't realise you could pick them up so cheaply these days!

    #drools over Carl Zeiss lens#

Oh yeah, I was actually contemplating taking photos to club x to be developed as I have taken photos there before ;)

but I figured they might think that photos of naked mushrooms was just a little TOO kinky:P

  9. Hey everyone. I got a question for ya. I don't have a digital camera, so to get pics to post on shroomery.org I need to bring the mushrooms home and take poor quality pics with my cam, by which time the mushrooms are looking pretty sad and becoming harder to identify. I can however take decent quality pictures with my analogue camera on location and scan them once I've had them developed. I was just wondering what the legality is with these pictures. I'm sure that most operators and employees of these photograph places couldn't care less what the photos are as long as they're not child pornography, but I'm just curious what would happen if the photo people thought that all these photos of fungii looked a little suspect and called the cops. Does anyone else use an analogue camera and a scanner to get pics for shroomery?

    Thanks people

  10. Hey all.

I was wondering what precautions need to be taken when handling deadly species. I would like to bring home and document every find I make, including species that I know or suspect to be dangerous. With species such as amanita phalloides is it dangerous to even just touch it? And what could I do to prevent the spread of the spores of such species when I pick, transport and handle them? Thanks.

  11. ummm... I'm sorry, I don't feel that I need to justify myself to anyone, and I am going to ignore all further replies that question my motives to avoid any hostility developing. I've been made to feel somehow bad when I don't think I've done anything wrong. I hope there's no hard feelings from you guys. There isn't from me.

Thanks El. I'll have a look for that vid. :)

  12. Perhaps wanting to see a psychedelic experience from the 'outside' is exactly what the psychedelic experience is not. ;)

But otherwise, I believe the doco about LSD ('The Within' or something) has some footage of people tripping. You can grab it here - http://www.cyjack.com/Visualisation/Visualisation.htm

Yeah I've got that, it's not a bad doco.

BTW I don't think I really am looking at the experience from 'outside'. When I see people on psychedelics, I identify with them and feel a connection. It can make me laugh, it can make me excited, and it brings back good memories. I don't think that can possibly go against the 'purpose' of psychedelics.

  13. why are u after footage? :)

Because it's been five years since I've had a psychedelic (not by choice), and even though I 've had them scores of times, I have a trouble really remembering exaxtly what it's like, and of course it's impossible to really remember anyway 'cos you can't concieve it when you're not on it. But seeing other people off their heads is the closest I can get to reminding me what it's like. It comforts me somehow :).

And thanks for that link C12. I never tried salvia but it sounds interesting. After seeing those videos it definately looks interesting and I'd like to try it, but it's illegal here now isn't it? Not all that popular, so it's probably hard to find on the street. Also, yeah I've tried Limewire, but there were only a couple of things on there. Also a video search on altavista.com without much luck.

  14. hey, I'm sure everyone knows that "British soldiers given lsd" video (probably). Does anyone know any other videos of people on acid (or mescalin, psylocybin etc.) on the net? I can find documentries with snippets of people on psychedelics describing the effects, but I want more! Thanks everyone :)

  15. Okay,

A lot of people have made some really good points and obviously know what they're talking about, and I'll probably repeat some of what's been said, but I think I have some things to add. As has been said, NEVER EVER use standard sugar (sucrose) unless you want your beer to taste like sickly pee.Even many commercial brewing sugars are just sucrose (including one of the coopers ones) and some are a combonation. Always read the ingredients. You CAN use maltose, dextrose, glucose or maltodextrin. I use maltose in the form of Light Dried Malt Powder. I believe that yeast has the most profound effect on the flavour of beer. Much more so than the type of sugar! NEVER use the yeast sachet that comes with a kit. Spend the extra five bucks on a sachet of really good yeast. I use Saflager. Liquid cultures are also available. Hops is also a great consideration, especially with a pilsner. I know nothing about henbane, but I assume you are using it (partly) to bitter the beer instead of hops. This is fine. However, pilsners MUST be dry hopped to be a pilsner. Dry hopping is when hops are added to the wort AFTER the boil. This adds flavour and aroma but not bitterness (during the boiling adds bitterness and not flavour). I usually add it in two stages. Half goes in as soon as the wort is off the boil, and the rest goes in when the wort has cooled to pitching temperature (the temperature at which the yeast is pitched, or added to the wort). This brings out different aromatic compounds. If I recall correctly, Pilsener Urquell use a third stage which is added five minutes or so prior to the completion of the boil. Only noble hops are ever used for dry hopping. These are expensive for bittering because they contain less alpha acids and therefore require more to get the same level of bitterness, but they are perfect for dry hopping as they don't have some of the nastier flavours that high alpha varieties have. The variety that MUST be used for a pilsner is Saaz. For a good flavour/aroma about 100g/25L (4Oz/Gal) is fine if you are using pellets, and I just dump it into the carboy (not in a bag) for the best flavour. It will just become part of the sediment, although you might find the odd speck in your beer if you are using pellets. Many purists never use high alpha varieties for anything, and spend the extra on the Noble varieties for bittering. I find this to be unnecessary and use green bullet or pride of ringwood for bittering. The recipe you have given is actually more of a mead than a pilsner as it contains honey, and does not contain the saaz. I hope this has helped, and I'll let you know if I think of anything I've forgotten.
