  1. T's right, the whole "mouthfeel" of chocolate is down to the exact micron size each manufacturer feels comfortable with, or moreso, how the customer likes the sensation of the chocolate in the mouth. Americans like a coarse choc, europeans like a smooth choc, aussies inbetween. The difference is merely a few microns size difference and in the conching...

Check this page out for the best was to make fine homemade choc.... they have a link to an improved tabletop conching/grinding machine that can run for the required 48-72 hours...

    Alchemist Choc

    Its alot of work..

In the meantime, try your hand at mexican style hot choc... coarse roasted cocoa nibs, cinnamon, almonds and a few extra goodies... yum

PS, a great way to roast your nibs is using a "hot air" popcorn maker. Just throw the nibs in there and heat untill yummy choc goodness fills the air!!

  2. Wonderfull!! Thanks for sharing ferret!!

Love that one that looks paralensis/bridge with the long spines

I would say that is a macro shroomytoonos, but some may think differently, maybe a ss peru.

That flower is just beautiful, almost like an orchid! Top shots.

    :)

  3. Your right, i dont think they do flower, hence my point at inducing flower via graft.

Im searching google and SAB at the mo, but cant find the info im after(for some reason i cant get sab's search engine to work, just encountering errors). There was a small dumpling like cati, mamallaria or other, that when grafted to the stock, forced a hormone change that caused the stock to flower. Im sure it was used in europe to force flower and create seed from rare and almost non-flowering varieties.

Now if i can just find that paper!!! :BANGHEAD2:

  4. If you cut a tip from that beauty and rooted it isn't it effectively the same "maturity" as the mother-plant anyway?
Same maturity? No, its a younger pup. When its has shot a pup or two itself, then i would consider it to be mature. Eg, like removing a pup from a a loph, the pup isnt mature untill its grown on and flowered. Same deal.
Where does maturity come from? Is it purely a question of biomass?

When i used the term mature, i simply was describing the age and yes biomass of the plant.

I dont think you would need such a huge plant to induce flowers. Just a mature/older section would be fine.

Most of the TBMs owned by the community, from the tiny thumb-sized pup to a grizzled monster-cock-mass, are probably from the same stock and hence same "maturity".

I dont think so. How can a tip cut of a tbm be the same maturity as a old fella like the one posted about? Mature in what sense? They share the same is the genetics, ie, the original stock. The word mature was only used by me as describing before, sheer biomass and age. Im sure flowering could be induced on a smaller, mature specimin.

    Sound ok? :)

  5. Tonic is quite right. Pictolotus Binoobious  (cerus peruvianus) can be found generally moreso than echinops/trichs as landscaping features in front yards. The two are unmistakably different once you have both infront of you. Cerus also tend to be alot greyer in colour and slightly glaucous, sometimes with a pinky dusted flower. Not sure how well self pollination goes, as i have rarely seen cerus fuiting by themselves down here. Maybe due to propagation via a clone its unfertille sometimes(not sure), try growing from seed. All the best with hand pollination tho! If you after catci fruit, maybe look toward the opuntias and dragonfruits. Once you have a big opuntia, youll have fruit for life!!

  6. Please remember people, now the upper house is a liberal majority, any changes labour makes will take forever(not literally, but at least 3-6 years), and dont expect any change in the senate untill after 2010 or so... All this changing IR laws bullshit is garb, labour cant change shit, its the upperhouse thats got the final say. They can all tell you what they want to do or change, fact is, they cant do shit untill the upper house is remodeled(dont know the propper term sorry).

    Now where to vote?? :blink::BANGHEAD2:

  7. IMHO, I think its not the best ideas, sorry. I feel like its akin to "sprooking" religion.

We all know the governemt are fooling us with what certain religions are doing, and we all there are only a few in those said religions(or factions of) that are causing the problem. No matter how many times you tell people not all muslims are extremists, the majority of "joe average" still believe the hype, even though the walk amidst musilms everyday without knowing or caring, quite safely of course, and we all really know that its the "individual", not the whole religion.

I draw similarities between the two, religion and drugs.

In a way, the direct marketing of drugs(yes, thats what people will see, not truely informed info as you propose) is like the annoyance people encounter with the mormons or seventh day adventists knocking on your door. We all know that they exsist, but its their in you face attitude that makes them unwelcome, that forcfullness for us to listen to their views on whats right or wrong, makes us more resilliant to their cause...

I guess Im trying to say, that no matter what you put under peoples faces, how true it is or not, the complacency of the "bastardized brain" will always win, its easier for people to accept the median bullshit than positive new outlooks. Its simple, I think word of mouth(proven to be more effective a marketing tool than most anyways) is sufficient(well, its how enthobotany exixits anyways), as long as the message doesnt achieve "chinese whisper" status. Think of this forum, and the forums alike, as the first step into the unraveling of this whole drug misconception.

It seems if people really want to change their attitudes, they will look for answers, not just accept the shit thats fed to them.

By the way, newspapers inserts will only go to the already mis-informed and darma-junkies anyways. Do you believe anything YOU read in the newspaper?? I think mass media is one of tyhe biggest poisions of all, and including newspapers. Utter shite they are, and im happy to call journalists makers of mass poision...

    :)

    Bd.

PS, i think we do a really good job of mythbusting our own conceptions here within our realm, imagine trying to make rational discussion within the mass media?? I cant imagine the lengths they will go to to rip apart the mysthbusted drug/s, even scientific study will be construned, because they know no one will seek out the truth, again, feeding the "millions of complacent bastardized brains".

Complacent, geez i love that word!!

  8. Re FANTASIA, Im pretty sure the senior director and senior animation directors were actually heavy users of both LSD and psilocybin/mushrooms. The fact that fantasia is such an amazing eyefull at times, is a direct result of the director and senoir artisits visions. No coincedence at all, its exactly how they wanted their experiences shared... note "seeing" the music?

Im pretty sure the goodies funneled down the line of animators too :)

Dont forget "The French Connection", a 70's smack smuggling flick, not bad for its time, also the "dope testing" scene from BLOW was directly ripped from TFC... check it out...

    the bits before...

"i cant feel my face.......really, i cant fell it.."

  9. Ive been thinking of a postive way to tackle some of the problems with the weed laws here in SA. Ive come up with a tangeable guidelines for personal outdoor and personal indoor cultivation.

Ok, here in SA, you can have: 1 plant outside no worries, $150 on the spot fine, if you pay it no problems.

You cannot have: ANY Indoors. Now if you get caught, with only 1 plant inside, its a court appearance, consequences and record.

Thats not fair, its the same one plant on your property, just a different location. Wheather it be inside or out, its still the same plant.

Now bear with me here, I can hear some saying.. but yeah, indoors hydro grows quicker, makes more money quicker... ra ra rah. It should be illegal. No it shouldnt. Not at all, infact, pot isnt the problem, cash and other drug swaps are the problem. I know that the cops are worried about huge ammounts of cash made from indoor growrooms here in SA, and thats why they made indoor growing illegal here now. No other reason.

If they are really after the big guys, fair enough, thats fine by me. I have a way to seperate us indoor "med/personal smokers/cultivators" from the average cash joe trying to make another 30k a year off pot he doesnt even smoke, let alone respect.

Ok, now onto governing indoor growing. Wattage is the ultimate governing factor regarding yeild, therefore potential yeilds can easily be controlled. Now weed is illegal cash for some, or heaven sent medication for others. By governing the allowance of wattage in the grow area, you can therefore govern the ammount of cannabis grown in that area.

I propose a 800-1200watt limit for personal indoor use/cultivation, anything over that and by all means take them to the cleaners. Comercial cultivation or whatever.

Indoor, 800-1200watts will yeild between 3/4 to 1 1/2 pound, every 12 week cycle. Depending on conditions, genetics etc. If you can squeeze more out the good on you! You will find there will be a threshold that will be reached, genetics will be the only governing factor then, and at around a pound every 12 weeks, thats about 1 and a bit ounces a week, more than enough for most med/personal users.

For some outdoor cultivation is not possible, but cultivation of natures gift indoors is. Why should these people be singled out as criminals? it just doesnt make sense. Thats what happens when people that make laws just dont fully understand the actual workings behind those laws. Ive seen SA go through all the major weed law changes, and this last change is just a joke.

I know my wattage governing idea will work, it has to, there is no other limiting factor. Ill cop a $150 on the spotter for under 1200 watts no worries, cop a criminal record, no thanks!!

  10. Mu, everyone is spot on with the seeded bud Vs thc content. Also, it causes need for more processing, removing the seed isnt the easiest job, and many trichomes are removed in the process.

Ive also read an old report(got not idea where now.. one of gazillion weed books ive got  ) that the US feds once extracted the actives from the plant, and deposited pure thc back onto the crumbled leaf/bud, creating a far weaker does at the same time.... thats not helping people much is it?? basically 'cutting' the weed down, and removing all the other goodies.Hhmmm.... :BANGHEAD2: Just give em good weed!!!

Geeez its good to see some people in the world think the same way i do about this! Makes me feel all warm'n'fuzzy

"baby steps, baby steps... one at a time..."

  11. About bloody time. Ive always felt the quality of research ditch weed to be far inferior to med weed. Just look at some of the pics about the place, HT and CC issues, it looks like they picked the worst straggly mexican( i think purebred sativas are great, dont get me wrong) and they deliberatly let it go to seed. This obviously provides the worst quality herb for medicinal use.

I supose thats how the government get around the fact that they have to actually supply weed, Im sure they would be thinking " If we have to supply med weed, may as well give them the crappiest stuff we can, we dont actually want to see them get better or patients to be getting bomb med weed". Imagine getting purebread hazes, mountainous Indica's like Kush and afghani from the US government! I dont expect them to supply the best quality species to their med patients, but at least test/analyse the purebreds for what they are, unique, DIFFERENT plants, with differing actions. Test REAL cannabis, Not comercial ditchweed.

    :bong::)

  12. The weber poultry cooker link here is what i used... you can see that it has a built in "can', the hoder thing (infuser) and the top plug for the neck ole :)

You should be able to get them at BBQs Galore, and other weber stockists. I think the one i linked was a US weber site tho.

I half filled it with water, put in a bit of lemon peel/zest, some fresh thyme, oregano and sage.

    :)

Just finished the tika-doori chicken... that pic was live!! :drool2: yumm. Coopers premium light went rather well with it(im no beer drinker, trust me!)

*** Just noticed on that link it has a video tutorial on beercan chicken!!***

  13. while we are on cookin the chookin heres another ripper:

    gallery_1274_18_30209.jpg

CHAR GRILLED TIKA-DOORI CHICKEN with NAAN and goodies

    Bread machine Naan

Ok, so you or your parents may have an old bread machine around the place that hasnt been used in ages? This is a ripper naan that does all the hard work in the bread machine. I spose you could get your hands dirty and mix and knead all the ingredients if you like...

    Serves 2-3

Chuck into bread machine, in no particular order:

    1/3 cup warm skim milk

1 teaspoon melted butter or ghee

    1 teaspoon active dry yeast

    225g bread/pizza flour or similar type(all porpose)

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teasppon baking power

    1 tablespoon olive oil

1/3 cup plain low fat yogurt

    1/2 egg combined

    1 teaspoon sugar

Select mix/knead for pizza dough, or similar 45 min dough runtime.

Allow to rest/rise for1-2 hours after program has stopped.

Rip dough into small palmsize balls, and roll out falt on a floured board, till around 2-3mm thick. Oval shape or whatever... Nice and thin..

Place thick bottom frypan on stovetop, set heat to med-high and allow to heat up dry.

When hot, cook flat dough till puffs up on one side(a little burnt bit is ok) then flip over and finish off on the other side till goldenbrown blotches appear. Cook one at a time. Brush a little melted ghee over the bread while hot if you like. Repeat with the leftover dough....

This is the best Naan i have had yet!! Yummmmm....

And now for the chicken :)

    TIKA-DOORI CHICKEN

Ive called it Tika-doori chicken, cause ita basically a mix of both tikka chicken and tandoori chicken.....

    Serves 2

    2 large chicken breasts

    Juice 1 lime or lemon

    1 teaspoon cayenne chilli powder

    Salt

    125ml yogurt

    1/2 teaspoon corriander powder

    1/2 teaspooon cumin powder

    1/2 teaspoon tumeric powder

    1/2 teaspoon tandoor colour(anatto red)

    1 1/2 tablespoons garam marsala

1/2 teaspoon cinammon or cassia powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 - 1 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh garlic

1/2 teaspoon ginger powder or 1 - 1 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger

    1 teaspoon sea salt

    1 teaspoon cayene chilli powder

    Ghee

    Ok,

Cut the breasts into medium pieces. Place into a glass bowl with the juice of a lime and cayenne, and a pich of salt.

Allow to marinade for 10-20 min at room temp.

Mix yogurt and all other spices and combine with the chicken pieces.

Allow to marinade for 1-3 hours.

    .

After the chookin is swimming in the spiced yogurt for an hour or so, set up your fav charcoal grill and fire it up. Or you can also set the oven to 250dC.

Melt some ghee for basting the skewers.

Place chicken on skewers reasonably tightly and using paper towel and pat the excess yogurt off the chicken.

When max temp has just rolled off the char, place skewers on grill and grill till just hints of char are showing on one side. Baste with melted ghee well, turn the skewers, baste again and place the lid on, dropping the temp down a bit. Cook until just cooked thru. Wrap the cooked hot chicken skewers in foil and allow to rest for about 5 min.

Serve with Naan, jasmine or white rice, Mint Sauce and Mango chuckney(Sharwoods is great)

    Quick mint sauce.

    2 tablespoons yogurt

pinch of cumin powder, paprika, salt and pepper and sugar

    5-10pair mint leaves, cut fine.

water or buttermilk to thin to a nice consisitency.

Allow to rest in fridge for 1-3 hours if possible.

    Hope you enjoy!! :drool2::drool2:

  14. I think we are not just heading into a serious meth/ice epidemic, but I think we are also looking at a generation of seriously fucked up individuals as these users get older.

Yeah, 5 years ago people laughed at me when i said this... even today people just dont grasp the damage it does.

    :BANGHEAD2:

  15. HA! Mustve been piri beer can heaven last few nights!! We did the piri bird too last night!! Yep dam nice., As i was almost too scared to infuse my chicken with aluminium too, i opted to spend $50.00 on a webber poultry cooker(cast ali but coated too, still good!). Basically its a beercan, thick ali dish and infuser. Expensie little gem but should last a lifetime...

I must say it was delish, best BBQ chook in ages and the carcas had all but colapsed it was that tender! 1 hour in the weber was enough.

I love my webber and nothing beats it..... ah meat, salt and charcoal :):drool2:

  16. Im happy to leave them be, I like the different look :P and as they arnt showing signs of "pointy" elioation(which i normally look for, like actual thinning of the tip or lightening of the ttips colour), ill let em go like they are. It will be interesting to see what hey look like in another 5 yrs!

Ok, $10 they are normal  Just different. Nothing wrong with that :)B)

If light is the problem, then only this particular batch of seed is showing this sign, no other loph in the collection are streaching at all.

  17. From the local gardens round here, flowering finished around two to three months ago. Pretty much no point sowing in the first 1/4 to 1/3 of the year. After that should be fine. Expect nicer flowers later in the year tho. Also, if you do grow 2 varieties together, there is a very strong chance they will produce hybrid seed.. This maybe desired, maybe not.

    Bd

  18. No, they are long photo period flowering plants. Early/late winter to early late spring thru to early summer best times to sow. Depending where you are. Really, sow 2-3 months before a dry spell when the days are going to be long. ie. the daylight is shorter when you sow them compared to when they fllower. Gee, hope that mad sense.

hang on, so sow in sept for dec flower finish  Yep... :)

  19. Ps, Im pretty sure that the o.g. seed came from europe somewhere back then. I would be suprised if a number of aussie stores carried the same seed stocks back then i think they were all sharing stock... Just a guess... :)
