Well i collected Bruce in the Riverlands, and "apparently" Rev had/has the same cut. He called it melt. If you look at the Bruce mother plant, there is no melt whatsoever, on old or regrowth. Its possible he may have driven out that way once but im not sure. Still doesnt explain the melt Vs huge difference in diameter Bruce is by far the fattest of any bridge i have in my collection, with no melt/morphing. More like a big scop in diameter. I must say tho, "competition" and wanting to be "one up" on people can make some weird things happen, if you know what i mean. I do have a limb of Bruce waiting to be cut up, might offer it in chucks soon too. Time do do some cuttin... Hope that clears things up.

I still maintain "melted wax" is not bruce. It seems more like Kai. I coined the name "Bruce" from my collection point, and i have never seen any morphing, rib distortion at all, ever. I do have a ten year old Bunnings bridgesii that is very similar to Kai and the melt. Constantly morphing dropping ribs or melting. Nothing like the robust fatness of Bruce.

Just saw it today in 3D. Its my first 3D movie i have ever seen. I loved it. Its so fresh, the plant life was bloody amazing, the creatures were spectacular. The plot was well constructed, with a few heart wrenching moments, some "typical" yank moments that were over ridden by the indian/african feel of the movie. I can honestly say it was a milestone movie for me. I watched it with my folks, dads in his mid 70's and mums in her early 60's. While watching, i often thought to myself, wow, i wonder how dad is reacting to this? From seeing old gold on black and white, to this full blown crazy coloured 3D extravaganza. He absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed it! Dad then proceeded to tell me he saw one of the first 3D "trial" movies back in Germany when he was a kid. Mum was blown away by it too. Avatar for me, was a huge jump in CGI quality and visual appeal. The feel of the plant life and animals was well thought out, plenty of trippers on that CGI team i tell ya I wasnt particularly looking out for any drug refs, except one group of plants did look like over sized papavers. Im sure ill watch it again and check things out more and more. I didnt find it painfully long, and i am normally prone to a sore knee and dead arse cheeks from most movies over 2 hours... Overall, breathtaking.

Cut a thin part of the base off, dust with sulfur or mancozeb like you have,allow to callus for a week or two inside upside down. IF the RH inside is too high inside, put it in an open shallow box with some drying agent to help callus form with lower RH. Or dry using the fan method you discussed. If you have that much rain dont even risk trying to root it outside, its a bad idea. Whats wrong with leaving it inside for a few months? It wont go to sleep. These things can handle being dehydrated quite a bit before any impact on growth once they can absorb water through the roots. Once they shoot roots, they will blow up like balloons. Whats the big No-no with coco coir and a little perlite?? Coco coir hold far more air than sand, it also 'wicks' better than sand, as sand will crust on the surface and be soggy underneath. I would think that in higher humidity more available oxygen to the roots and more even moisture levels would be better? You could probably go to 50% perlite if needed. If your aim is to produce roots as quickly as possible, coir/perlite mix is the way. Once you have your roots you can repot into whatever soil mix you like.

Heya Mutant, Well Im in South Australia, very similar Mediterranean climate. Im glad the pics helped Rhali, ditch the sand man, use coir and bring it inside on a window ledge. Seriously.....

Heya Mutant, Its the by-product of the coconut industry. Its the hairy fibrous husk, decomposed in water and ground to a fine (or coarse) mill. Its then generally compressed into bricks, if you get "bricked" coco, be sure to rinse it well with hot water a few times, to remove excess salts. There is also a magnesium and calcium treatment you will find around the place to help avoid nutrient lock-out. Most times its not need to do it. Sand will take forever. Keep it inside or covered and use coco-coir. If you get cheap brick coir, be sure to rinse it well with hot water at leats 3 time to remove unwanted salts. Ive had degrafts take years to never root in soil or sand, and coir in a matter of weeks to a month. See my Coco fiber to the rescuethread

From MSN Exclusive today: AFP seize 20kg of party drug mephedrone Federal police have seized over 20kg of a new party drug in the past 15 months — but Australians are still openly trying to buy the potentially deadly drug online. Ninemsn can reveal that the AFP and Australian Customs authorities have intercepted 25 shipments of the banned drug mephedrone into the country since September last year. But the AFP refuse to confirm if they have arrested or charged anyone over the shipments. Mephedrone — also known as 4-MMC, Plant Food or Bubbles — is said to give users a sense of euphoria somewhere between cocaine and ecstasy. The drug is prohibited in Australia but can be legally purchased as plant food in countries like the UK. It comes in pill or powder form and is typically packaged inside a small plastic bag with a sticker that reads: "Not for human consumption ... for technical use only". An AFP spokesperson said authorities were aware of a Hong Kong-based buy-and-sell website where Australians have left ads looking for mephedrone dealers. Ninemsn found some 17 advertisements on the website, including one notice from a Victorian user looking for a weekly supply of the drug. "Need bulk amounts of mephedrone to be shipped to Victoria, Australia ... require a sample pack (say 5g) first to ensure quality," the advertisement says. "Looking for someone who can supply weekly ... would prefer product to already be in the country at time of shipping." Another person from Sydney says they want 1kg of the drug, while a Tasmanian user says they are looking for a "reliable mephedrone supplier ... wanted urgently" An ad published by someone in Adelaide says they are "looking to buy 10g of mephedrone". In June last year, Queensland police seized a batch of pills being sold as ecstasy which contained a mix of mephedrone and a similar drug called ethylcathinone. A Bing search of "mephedrone" reveals scores of websites selling the drug, many of which are based in the UK. Some sites describe mephedrone as a plant fertiliser or even a plant growth suppressant. Ninemsn found one website selling 25g of the drug for $358, or 1kg for $8460 — the same price as roughly 211 ecstasy tablets or 28 bags of cocaine. But the website says shipments outside the UK have stopped because of police seizures. Mephedrone has already been attributed to one death in the UK: 14-year-old Gabrielle Price had a heart attack on November 22 at a house party after reportedly taking the drug as well as ketamine. This year is an unusual one. All the Bridgesioids seem to be setting flower. Bruce, Full melt (or partial melt as i have here, semi monstrose) and a single M&D are showing flower buds. I have had these plants for bloody years with no signs of flowers. Now, all 3 are setting! could make for some pretty awesome X's.

Some unscrupulous growers used to use "brick-in-a-bottle" here in SA, and i bet some still do. Fresh plants were cut and trimmed, then the flowers "soaked" in a bathtub of this crap for a few hours then dried. From what i have worked out, it was some form of sugars and liquid paraffin wax in emulsion and whatever else. Used to make heavier weight for sale to other states, mainly thru the two wheeled wholesalers/dealers who encouraged this behavior. I could pick any weed that had undergone this process, and duly put a few people back in their place for even trying to palm it off to me. It used to be slightly sweet, unflavored and would hold a flame for the first few tokes. Utter shit it was.

The old Nikko Bison F10 is where my R/C life began, followed by a flying brick "mini" on roader, the a Associated "Works" Rc10 limited off road. Then it got all to expensive to stay competitive in the top class. I would hate to know how much i spent on it all back then. Competitive racing was crazy. Sheesh! It's called doda — a "new trend in opium consumption," according to the RCMP — and it's got police and politicians very worried. Canada's border police have made two massive recent seizures of the exotic drug in southern Alberta. One Alberta politician says he's seeing families in Calgary's South Asian population torn apart by the drug. "I have seen families ruined by this," said Darshan Kang, who represents the northeast riding of Calgary-McCall. "Those people, they will spend all their money on this." Doda is typically brewed up as a tea, providing an addictive high that breaks the monotony of repetitive work and helps people get through long hours on the job, say those who've seen the effects of the drug. Community leaders, police and politicians in Calgary are increasingly worried about the growing popularity of doda among some members of the South Asian community who work as cleaners, cabbies and truck drivers. "Sure, they think they are working longer hours, they are trying to put the bread and butter on the table," said Kang. "But once they get addicted to this, just to feed their addiction alone, they won't be doing anybody any good." On Sept. 22, Canada Border Services Agency officers inspected a commercial container declared as "dried grasses." Inside, officers found 12 skids containing 2,700 kilograms of dried poppy pods worth an estimated $5.45 million. The next day, CBSA officers became suspicious when a second commercial container declared as "dried flowers" was awaiting clearance for entry into Canada. Officers found 26 skids totalling more than 4,500 kilograms of dried poppy pods with an estimated street value of more than $9 million. According to the CBSA, the pods are typically turned into doda. In August, Edmonton police seized more than 70 kilograms of dried opium poppy heads and charged one man with possession for the purpose of trafficking. The drug typically has been peddled in small grocery stores, flower shops and at flea markets in Calgary, according to police. Sgt. Darren Cave with the Calgary police drug unit said the brown-greyish powder sells for around $10 for 10 grams and brings a quick rush of euphoria, followed by a longer state of calm. Doda is beginning to surface in other areas of the country as well, and the RCMP stresses that anything containing opium is banned in Canada. "(In Canada) doda is most commonly found in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia," the RCMP said in a statement Monday. "The limited exposure of Canadians to opium powder, and the lack of mainstream information about the drug, has led to some confusion over its legality. All substances containing opium, its preparations, derivatives, alkaloids and salts are prohibited under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act." Doda is still quite new on the Calgary horizon, emerging in just the past few years. But as the substance is sold and users become addicted, there is a fear that if doda is not curbed in this city, it will go the way of street drugs, attracting crime and gang involvement. Calgary police are preparing a plan to fight the drug before it sinks its roots any deeper in the city's criminal subculture. Within four to six months officers will be trained to identify the substance, said Cave. A public awareness effort will warn people the drug is illegal and police will enforce the law. "If it's being sold and there are quantities now starting to come into our country, there's going to be a profit margin," Cave said. "Once you start getting into money, organized crime becomes involved and if organized crime becomes involved, there will always be that potential for violence." The drug can take a significant toll on users and their families, said Balwinder Singh Kahlon, a founder of Drug Awareness Foundation Calgary, an anti-drug group. Every few days, Kahlon says he gets a call from the family of someone hooked on doda. He recently heard of a person who went from spending $300 to $1,200 a month on the drug. "The first time they take (doda), it will increase their working ability," said Kahlon. "When they start using it . . . and next day they need more, next day they need more. Then they become addicted to it. It's an addictive drug." With the recent law enforcement, the sale of doda may not be as open as it was just a few months ago in Calgary, said one community leader. "It has gone underground, but I'm sure it's there," said Gurinder Singh, a director with Radio Sursangam in Calgary.

I quite enjoyed Machine girl, its a crazy ultra violent blood squirting almost comedy B grade blood gore noir jap flick. Im chasing a copy of Shyness Machine Girl now, should be interesting, although from previews it looks a bit lower budget than the first one, if thats possible. search you tube for previews. I normally dont like horror films but the japs just do this blood gore thing so well, its more fun than serious.

HEya all, I just aquired some dutch cream and sponta seed potatoes and im looking at trying the no-dig method. Has anyone had good/great results with this method? Ive tried 'in-ground' normal style but the idea of containment in a mesh column and the straw/manure/compost substrate seems very temping and i would like to give it a try. Basically you make a wire mesh cylinder, bout a meter diameter, and a meter or so high. Layer compost/ old manure on the bottom, wet newspaper, then straw (lucern) place the seed potatoes on top of this, add another layer of straw, compost and manure, bit of blood 'n' bone and water in well. Wait till the spuds sprout, and repeat the layering process every time the stems/sprouts grow about 200mm till the cylinder is full of layers. The plant then flowers and dies off, and you open the mesh and yoink out your prize spuds. Has anyone tried this method before? The only downside to this method i can see for me is the availability of enough compost/manure. Sure i have a bit of a compost pile, but not that much. I assume the main substrate is the straw and the manure/compost is just a nutrient source? Thanks for any assistance or feedback. Bd

Well time to update this one. I did the usual wet newspaper first to suppress weeds. Then primo compost from great friend, some blood and bone on top of that. Placed the seed potatoes on top, and covered with pea-straw to about 150-200mm thick. Watered in well, and threw some dynamic lifter on top, just a little. Luckily we have had some great spring rains so far, and i haven't had to water at all yet. Heres the results so far: Side by side, Dutch Cream (left) & Spunta (right) Dutch cream is a little slower so far, all good Spunta is cruisin along: Next week ill add more pea straw to the Spunta's and when the Creams pick up ill top them up too by another 150mm or so. Well, where do i start? Firstly, Yawning, If you dont like Hip hop shut the fuck up and live with it. I dont like a number of genre's but i dont cry about it. Get a life. Coming from old school US background, early 90's- now into underground US stuff, I find Aussie Hip Hop getting better, but, there is some if not alot of average crap around, much like the US scene. Sincere, honest artists will always shine thru. I have a best mate thats one of Australia's top Dj's and also a producer for a huge SA crew, and a number of independent artists. I am bias toward US stuff, but there are some Aussie crews out there that i like. Yes, i do like most Hilltop stuff, production and 'bang for buck' of Funkoars work is great, but i find most VIC stuff utterly crap. I dont listen to JJJ and only have regular US underground and maybe 5% Aussie stuff on rotation in my car. I do have a problem with the "beer,BBQ's and dole queens" rhymes of the aussie scene, but hey, like most have said, Australia doesn't have much in the way of "crack vials, 22's, whips and straps". But Fuckit, We do need a Aussie voice, and some of Australia's best Mc's are outstanding. Funny thing is, the rhymes are as honest if not more than the US lyrics. Production is right up there if not better than most. If you knew how hard it was for the Hoods and other crews to actually get air time in the beginning you would be impressed that they are even getting regular rotation, JJJ is predominately an emo/indy station, to get any aussie hip hop actually played was a nightmare. It actually took a massive sms spamming effort by fans to get them airtime. Its been repeated a few times (the spamming that is) and now JJJ realize they have a serious fanbase that needs to be heard or they will lose listeners. To put it into perspective, my mates band/crew just performed over 35 regional shows in 10 weeks on the back of a album release and nation tour. Thats all due to fans wanting them to do shows. Thats dedication and love for ya. Not just from the fans but from the band, 10 weeks on the road as an independent label is a massive undertaking. Aussie hip hop is still in its infant state, still in metamorphosis, still growing and changing. The fans too are undertaking this change. Sellout shows prove that people love this genre, while it doesnt appeal to all, its there and it serves its purpose. For me its a bit of a laugh, being bashed as a kid for wearing baggy jeans and a cap by bogans, standing up for my hip hop lifestyle as a minority, standing by my morals and my music for so long (over half my life now) and now seeing the world embrace hip hop culture and fashion without even knowing it. Its funny, interesting and thought provoking how much a single music genre can effect the world, without the majority of the masses even knowing. I can even see its influence in my nephews and their lives. Just like many genres before it and many to come, some will like it, others wont, but we cant ignore the talent that some humans show.
