  1. It is the textbook case of winter damage. I agree you might want to think about winter protection. It´s not normal that plants get something like that unless there is something wrong with the environment. Like previously mentioned; get yourself a cheap greenhouse. You dont need to spend much to prevent something like this in the future. It´s an amazing plant and it will rise again. :-D

  2. Yes but be super careful and if you can get a non-oily Neem solution it would be the better option. Neem oil can cause chemical burns, especially when sprayed in summer. If you dont get the Neem chemical as a toxin make sure to dilute the oil mix. And get yourself some sulfur because it is a great way to get sick plants back on track. No matter what; this will take years to heal.

  3. Pretty sure this is a secondary infection caused by cold damage. If you want to get to the root of this you need to protect them from frost or it will happen again. Those instects can be killed with Neem and it shouldnt be a big problem to get rid of the insects. The real problem is the rot that you have there. I would use sulfur, neem and maybe 60-70% alcohol to get this plant back on track.

  4. Hey Pacha, what regions do you want to travel to? There are SO many cool places like Chavin de Huantar, South Peru, Huaraz, Lima, Cusco, Matucana etc. Let me know which areas you are heading and I´ll give you some tips about where there are nice plants to take pics of!

  5. Hi guys, my new Pachanoi seeds are finally in! It´s a true Pachanoi from the Peruvian city Ayabaca and I am offering them here for you as well! I´ve been waiting half a year until I finally got those seeds and I am madly happy about having them. They are fresh out the pod and it´s a beautiful non-pc San Pedro that is almost spineless!

  6. Hey Kykeion, been there done that. Had a total loss in a greenhouse many years ago and it broke my heart. Stopped growing cacti for at least two years, but became a much better grower because of that. So yeah, glad to see you are back. Setbacks are normal and you will be glad you didnt let that accident keep you from growing cacti! bye Eg

  7. I have some seeds if you are set for the long way. Get in touch with me and I´ll send you some. All the seeds I have are follow-up crosses with the FLYING SAUCER, so there definitely is some variability in the color of the flowers.

  8. Hey guys, thank you all for supporting this project! It´s a great pleasure to announce we finally made it to the goal and it seems like we´re exceeding the expectations! I am super happy and proud to bring this book to you and I´ll make sure to personally draw in little Penises for everyone who wants to pimp his book. :) Just kidding. I will start with the shipping phase in July or August and I´ll make some more statements directly through the Indiegogo email system and the Facebook group! If you have any questions you can always message me at EG [ät} trichocereus.net! bye EG

  9. Hi guys, the past months were extremly busy and I wanted to say "thank you" to everyone who sent me seeds! I just had the time to check all my emails and I am still feeling like there were more people that I wanted to thank.
If you sent me anything in the last months, please get in touch with me so I can repay the favour and send something back. I have a whole lot of cool stuff and I am always happy to share some genetics. This is extremely important to me, so please let me know. bye Patrick

  10. Pretty sure it´s the lamp. The upper parts mostly looks burnt because of the red color and the bright areas around it, but I am sure it´ll look normal again soon. You know, I have those kinds of discolorations all the time. And either they are from the red light in the lamp or they are caused by stress. If you take a plant that´s not used to a bright lamp and put it under it, it´ll have a strong reaction like this one. You also get the same stuff in the first few weeks after you take seedlings in a greenhouse. Sometimes this is an indicator of stress, but it can also happen on perfectly healthy plants.

  11. Do you use a red lamp? It´s normal that plants that are grown under red lamps turn red. It happens to all cacti. Many people abuse this to sell off red "variegates" or mutants. But as soon as those plants are grown in a natural lighting, they change back.

  12. Ha Ha, thanks. the Pachanoi is not a monstrose...just growing some additional ribs.

The last two plants have similarities, though they look different so maybe keep an eye on them. Right now, I think that the third is different to the second (the Pach) but those plants can be so variable that you sometimes end up with two totally different plants that were coming from the same seed lot. It´s normal variation, though I feel like the second is too much of a Pachanoi to be the same as plant no. 3.
The third definitely has some cuzcoensis in it and intermediates between Tr. pachanoi and Tr. cuzcoensis exist. Which would mean that type two and three COULD be some kind of Cuzcoensis/pachanoi intermediate, even though they look substantually different right now. But yeah, time will tell. 2+3 are really interesting and remind me of the spiny Pachanoi/cuzcoensis intermediates from places like Chavin.
