  1. Well, he arrived today.

    What a fine specimen!...

    post-11385-0-96243500-1435711877_thumb.j

Looks a little different to what I expected (EG's pics), he has smaller areoles and is more slender, but that's probably due to the spines being trimmed. (Edit: on further inspection, I don't think the trimmed spines could account for that much of a difference in areole size. Could be a maturity thing. (Edit edit: actually, the lower areoles look a bit more true to form.))

Can't wait to see what this grows into!

  2. Shit. Sorry man!

Gotta be quick round those parts.

I've seen something I wanted in there and had it go out of stock while I was signing in.

But I love your outlook for the future! Mine's somewhat similar.

Thanks for the links mate, they seem to talking more about the tersheckii type plant in the thread. Though Solaritea's plants from ss look similar.

From what I can tell the KK1418, along with the two from Solaritea, seem to be a variety in the tac/taq family.

But that's about as far as I get.

  3. G'day everyone,

Found one of these floating around the sab webstore last week.

It hasn't arrived yet so I haven't even seen it but I've tried to look into the plant a little.

    To no avail.

    Does anyone else grow this?

The only pic I can find is the one on the webstore and even so, it's obviously different from the validus' at fields.

It was mentioned that it could be synonymous T. uyupampensis, another plant I can find little to no information about.

So if anyone has pics or info other than the collection data, I'd be muchly appreciative.

    Thanks.

  4. Hey everybody,

Just been looking at my seed collection and working out what I can and can't sow in regards to space.

I've come to the conclusion that I have quite a few in excess so I would like pass them on to someone who will have the opportunity to grow them.

There's two lots of 200+ from incognito, bridgesii open and cordobensis open.

Six lots of 30+ hybrids from interbeing.

And ten L. willys fresh yesterday.

I'd prefer to send them all to one person as funding doesn't permit otherwise and thought if there are a few people keen, the fairest way is the random number thing with your post number being your number.

I'll keep it open for a week, till midday next Friday.

    Thanks.

Edit : I'll post my replies in here as to not mess up the numbers.

You're number three ElWillGuy. Much nicer number than seven in my opinion.

  5. Stunning Michael!

I too quite like the wet look, as do a number of us around here it seems.

    Thanks for sharing.

There must be hundreds of people across the planet that are envious of your cactus collection.

I'm glad that through the miraculous wonders of the interwebs I can gaze upon your glorious garden from the other side of the globe.

  6. Woah, wasn't expecting all these new additions!

Certainly some luscious looking little lovelies!

Rogdog, that saucy sausage plant is amazing! I want to rub it all over my face! Be careful my friend before entering to deep into this fetish, tis dangerous water to tread. The usual outcome is the death of all the addicts cacti from overwatering. Even when they're black, rotting lumps of goo, they'll still be drenching them with water, lost in the nostalgia of past glory.

This addiction is a serious matter people!

But keep them coming, there's no turning back for me.

  7. Well, the time has come to choose a winner.

Thanks to everyone who posted photos for indulging my fantasies.

If I had to choose one it would have to be paradox's shot of the water droplet hanging from the spine. That's an amazing photo my friend, screensaver worthy material. Pm me your address and I'll send out a few seedlings and some seeds.

And anyone else that posted in here that would like some seeds, pm'd address' will result in some seeds heading your way.

    Thanks again!

  8. Thanks heaps eg!

Extremely helpful, they are very different when you see them side by side.

I hadnt seen the huarazensis. I assumed it looked like the huancoensis.

I wondered why my huarazensis x n1 looked nothing at all like my huancoensis, I figured it got mostly bridgesii genes.

But now it all makes a bit more sense.

Huarazensis reminds me of the bogan clone a little with its closely spaced areoles, just minus the lovely red spines.

  9. Awesome!

Cheers peoples, it's hard to find new material for these obscure fetishes. Should keep me going for a while, hah.

    Loving that lucious loph anodyne!

Brendo, the cactus you mentioned came to me labeled as a macrogonus but I'm not real sure, maybe someone else could chime in here?

The first picture I posted also came labeled as a macrogonus and fits the description more I think, dark brown spines from the get go and a single, well defined central. Whereas the other ones spines start out yellow with black tips and has two centrals occasionally.

Of course I do realise that T. macrogonus isn't recognised as a species so to me they're T. peruvianus 'big mac' and 'little mac'.

  10. And to make it a little more interesting I'll choose my favourite (the winner of you don't consider everyone a winner who has such asthetically pleasing plants) next Sunday and send that person some hybrid tricho seeds I have lying around. Maybe even a few seedlings if it makes me weak at the knees.

  11. I just love how the areoles on some trichos turn black when they're wet!

    Looks super sexy me thinks!

Just admiring my cacti in the rain and had the idea of wet areole comp in the vain of a wet tshirt comp. (I'm not sure which turns me on more)

So friends, post a pic of your most arrousing cactus whilst wet, the cactus that is.

And people who are just reading this thread, better get the lube ready!

    Here's a few of mine....
