I wanted to finish it on a Sunday. But I also wanted to make sure that as many members as possible had the opportunity to know it was up for auction. My thoughts were 1 week, but I've been sick & haven't been able to do anything till today. So, I would have put it up this Sunday just passed & finished it next Sunday...but 4 days is too short & yet 10 seems too long . Because of this plants rarity & speed that it is now growing at, this is my predicament.. So, 10 days it is ...

In at the Masters store in Cairns I found this for $12... My wishful thinking was "Turbinicarpus lophophoroides". But after doing a quick search, I can see I wasn't even close...lol I think it may have been the Hamiltons tag, which stated, "This plant is for ornamental use only. Not to be consumed"...*chuckle, chuckle So some ID help would be appreciated, cause I have no idea ...thx guys & gals. PS - Please tell me it's anything except another mamillaria...lol

I notice that my pedro isn't fitting as neat under the willy as it was when the graft was 1st done yesterday. The willy is still plump as & I'm not too concerned at this early of a point...but I can see why you would give the root stock 24hrs to allow for that shrinkage. Gotta get me some pantyhose...

Ok...so I braved it & cut the head of my lil' willy girl .. She wasn't that pretty anyway, she'd had a bad dose of spider mite earlier on in the year. She is now sitting atop a pedro cutting, that had only this spring, started to grow...putting on about 8" (which will now be my next cutting, to establish for grafting stock.. ) .. Whoa, I'm getting dizzy .. . So, hopefully the old rootstock will re-shoot...I was very conscious to keep my cut up above the root top, even though the urge, was to go lower... .. . Here's a closer pic...I should have taken some befores, as well ... .. I'll take the net off in about a week & take a better pic then ... FYI - the yellow colour of the cactus flesh, is from the light, sulphur dusting, I carefully dusted on afterwards.
