    Growing on logs

not an exact science most dowels in oz are made from eucalyptus the idea is to introduce some sugars in water to the interstitial space to assist colonisation 2% sounds like a good start you tell me ive never measured. just put in a good dollop to the simmering solution

    Strain Maintainance

fruit it and get one thats fertile and clone that fruit that undoes 99% of all accumulated genetic damage what u are doing is by natural slection eliminating all substrraisn that have lost the mechansims that enable the full lifecycle its doesnt hurt to get new strains from spore at the same time but the enokitake we know today was alsmots exlusivley created by clonal selection from the wild type and not from spores so stamets P system is only half valid - true for subcluturing plates but not if you complete the lifecycle and clone fertile fruitbodies

    kratom plants taken by police

its a cultural prejudice of ours The chinese prefer river fish over oceanfish in contrast to us Carp is immensely popular in asia, the middle east and europe as an eating fish theres nothing wrong with it if you know how to remove the floating bones and cook it right. as with eating squid, mussels, deer, eels, roe and goats it is plain to see that in 5 to 10 years aussies will eat carp too once they are shown how -its already been featured on a recent TV cooking show Tillapia is not far behind carp the oreochromus mossambicus is not a good fish as it breeds incessntly and so they stunt in ponds T niloticus and the other species up in queenland are far better and hybrids between them and O mossambicus = even better some hybrids show colour by sex and so are easy to grade into ponds of single sex upon which they reach table size and are good eating i wouldnt recommend spreading them but by all means learn to eat them naja they are alos very common in the chapman river that goes by geraldton i dont think they could live in the swan but in time they may adapt to lower temps just as marron adpeted to higher temps in the hutt river, and rainbow trout in the SW streams

    changa???

the whole post was well put forward i agree wholeheartedly by the time the contributins to history of our generation are noticed they will be being celebrated by mainstream culture at which point it is obvious that the next stage of development will already be occuring unnoticed or at best reviled at the fringe of this new 'alternative' conservatism ala 'Rave' its dead which is why its accepted cos mainstream promoters can safely poke around its carcass without fear of being bitten
  7. i like them cook as if celery - same textures but bitter but its a bitter you can quickly start to like goes well with bbq pork in a soup and or a thai red curry the immature fruits contain quinine useful to know if you need to the seeds are emetic!

    Growing on logs

other way around either sterilise the dowels. in which case u might as well soak in honey/suagr/molasses water first or just soak by boiling them or pouring boiling hot water over and soaking o/night with the rope the same thing applies mycelium just goes nuts over hessian and sisal rope even with no pasteurisation have a play. its not difficult of course u dont need dowels. u could just innoc with sawdust spawn to make that just expand ur grainspawn to 5x its volume in sterilised sawdust - if using euc then add at least 5% bran supplement as its a gutless wood for most exotics i drool over your poplars  Poplar is an excellent wood. i cannot think of a single woodloving species you would want to grow native or exotic that would not find this wood eminently digestible and i might add poplars can be hosts to the italian white truffle an even higher value commodity in the kitchen and the wallet than than the more common black truffle

    Brisbane running dry

sorry i wouldve voted no as well given the options put forward (remmber the referendum - this fucked monarchy or his brand new fucked republic?) i like the idea of water recycling - but not for drinking and bathing etc! putting it back in the dam? are they mad? rous water wont even let rainwater backwash into scheme water lines, let alone recysled effluent any chemist or biologist knows you dont return possibly contaminated fluids to the stock solution till they get their thick skulls around the multiple pipeline system they are fucked im not concerened by the coliforms but rather by the myriad of untested for second hand pharmaceuticals that pollute our waterways, and possibly viral innoculum

  13. normally id just answer with a ROTFLMAO but i am seriously concerned that you might deviate so very far from your own natural intelligence its great to have an imagination but dont make fantasies a basis for living on unless you have firm evidence. particualrly when you are talking about the nuts and bolts energy layer we call the material world, for which we already have a very good headstart on the laws of physics and mathematical probabilities that you can trust reptle may exist on a metaphysical level, represenattive incarnations of brains hardwired to more base instincts of sex and aggression. Icke isnt the fisrt to suggest others amongst humanity. Islamic tradition talks of Djinn, as do others. offspring of adam and lilith or similar tales but its all figurative. part of the complexity of consciouness go earth yourself brother. get naked and eat a banana in front of the mirror with a book on primates. you are an ape. cross check your features front on and in profile. no doubt at all a very complex ape but an ape nonetheless just like every other person on earth if you must go research the biology of reptiles. looking at morphology (esp head bones, gait ) and metabolism (cold blooded, heart structure) you will see they could not possibly assume our form without violating all the limitation inherent in reptilian physiology there is very much danger in dehumanising others. if you believe in everything you are a fool. and if you deny everything you are one too there is a duality to everything, but u musnt mix them incorrectly auras may or may not have any substance but the conjury of an effect by some means is not proof that it has the relevance the conjurer assigns it. the world is full of trickery and 'sorcery' in that sense. i can see air currents/ if i sit and relax and focus a certain way its easy for me to see the convection currents in a room. i might assign it some ethereal label but it is clear upon investigation that it is convection - and that in itself is a beautiful enough phenomenon to observe dont u think? use logic to empower yourself and cut through the crap. there is an even more brilliant metaphysical beauty to be found in the truth of unity. Many physicists and well as philosopher and shamans have glimpsed it the closer you get to it the clearer everything becomes, the veil of illusion lifts and you can truly see the reconcilliation between the intuitive and the rational. its far beyond both mysticism and science alone where the two reconverge. where science gains meaning and faith has grounds to exist radical concepts that attempt to violate the harmony of dynamic truth can be seen as the falsehoods they are
  14. soy is bad for the environment its true even organic aussie soybeans are grown unsustainably on ex rainforest soils which like those in brazil do tend to include the good agricultural soils. edamame has been around for ages its a different variety tho look it up. i wish i could find seed in australia itd make a great late summer crop there are so many varieties of soy. the general industrail ones for oil anbd feed tend tyo be the yellow types, but the diversity in soy genome and phenotype is remarkable you can kill the antinutritional enzymes in soy by 2 means i know of 1 is germination - ie sprouting soy. it alos cause the fat content to drop precipitously and the freee aminoi acid count to go up. too much fat in soy is ist limitation as a feedstuff for cows the other is by denaturing above 140C under pressure extrusion it spurts out frothing and frying in its own oil but is quickly dried to form a crumb raw soy tastes bitter but this stuff when nic n fresh tatses like almond meal not bad till u realise its half oil, and till your clothes are soaked in the rancid shit flint Maize and soy are world agricultural mainastays that are both inedible without processing good for globalisation but if you want health go eat some other bean - chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans - all far nicer to eat and only require a soak and gentle cook

    Nicotiana sp. and cancer

well i dont want to have people going beyond what is proven there are a lot of demonised susbtances out there nicotine though highly addictive and all these other things may also be neuroprotective it seems taboo these days to question the anti tobacco lobbies propaganda or to suggest tobacco and nicotine might even have some benefits to life and welbeing - which of course they must have for it to have been so widely used prior to 20th century marketing drives round here itd not raise an eyebrow but to say chewing coca is good for your health would be herecy to many people outside our circles. if nicotine is carcinogenic and u have relaible the data then so be it. To my previous knowledge from toxic. texts it wasnt authorities jumping the gun and banning herbs with pyrrilizidone alkaloids and over safrole content in root beer from some dodgy rat studies makes me tend not to believe much i read against herbs till i see the fine print

    Anyone tried these woods?

they generally use only sawdust spawn in logs, or dowel, or rope grain is generally used only onto sterile substrates or pasteurised straw for species that like it richer ie eryngii or gold oyster, whereas again sawdust to straw is used for pink, common and pulmonarious oysters

    Anyone tried these woods?

twigs are more nutritious re lilac i guess you mean Melia azederach? http://www.brisrain.webcentral.com.au/old_...a_azederach.htm in WA the cape lilac, over here where its native ( the var australasica form) its 'White cedar" in China they grow wood ear mushrooms on it so it should be fine innoculating wood with grain? thats brave if you must do that try adding 1% by dry weight peat moss to the grain spawn. apparently the phenols trigger and adaptive response in the myc that gives it greater immunity and competitivness to trichoderma and other competitors ive found paper spawn is crap as well in logs (though fine in beds) as it dries out too fast. i still havent got a portable chainsaw so i havent dne much new research yet in stamets new book he uses rope spawn sisal hemp rope coils innoculated with grain spawn. you then cut grooves in the base of stumps and tap in the rope giving the myc access to the sweet cambium

Earthpod order, 1 year on and still not received!

i know exactly how you feel adrian there are a handful of orders which unexplicably have been severely neglected and cos i know exactly how it is i say u need what i need and thats a kick in the arse until it gets resolved seriously. make a strategic plan that will release your commitments rather thah absolve them. think of it as a growth oportunity to overcome adversity it can be so hard to face an embarassing situation and resolve it. theres this inertia that cant be explained. little steps adrian... the exact sme ones im taking no wevery day and week till i get on top of it again it doesnt matter if people think u are unreliable, u are. i am. its not ok but its something ucan take under ur belt and move on. in that past instance. u cant make everyone happyBUT u/i can fulfill out obligations regardless thats what matters in the end ignore me or heed my advice, up to you. take it as a very personal challenge to rise above past mistakes i cant speak for anyone but myself but seeing as i understand thi ssituation personally and my place within it i can empathise with the specif barnd of paralysis overcome it and ill be understanding. others might not but they dont understand till they go there themselves
