What zodiac sign are you?
Getafix replied to mutant's topic in Creativity, Spirituality & Philosophy
Aries, I seem to be a minority here. Age has mellowed the impulsive, hot headed, fiery Aries traits -
To all that have seedlings coming their way, they are packaged up and at work with me now. They will be in the mail this afternoon so you all should see them some time this week. Cheers Getafix

Bullit, I have another batch of seedlings on their way, once again more than I will have room to put into my garden so will do another give away of some nice crosses down the line. The seedlings I have coming along came from Nitrogen so some very interesting plants!

Mate, I have watered every cactus I have ever had straight after repotting and regularly after that. Though this may have been out of ignorance as I never considered there could be an issue with damaged root systems being susceptible to rot I have also never lost a plant to rot. Snowfella is probably correct but I wouldn't be worrying it about especially in these temps. I have recently planted out a 100 or so cacti in the garden and have been watering hard, they are doing great but I may take Snowfellas method onboard in the future. What does everyone else do as far as watering or not watering after replanting/repotting?

Looks good mate.Mine had to look pretty otherwise it would have been a hard sell to my other half!!

Welcome kuychi. I have some pyscho0 x pach or pach x pyscho0 seedling (can't remember which cross right now), you can have to get your cacti garden going if you want them. They are quite established 10cm plus tall and spikey! PM me if you are interested and i will get something in the post for you in the next couple of weeks. Cheers Getafix

Amazonian, I have a large tattoo on my lower back of an om, very similar to your avatar. Maybe I should start a thread of show and tell ethno and related lifestyles tats!

Great idea for a thread!! As a child I loved the Asterix and Obelix books, read them all again as an adult, loved the names. Getafix, the druid who brewed the magic potion, seemed appropriate as it symbolised my childhood and innocent love of the books and the names and my not so innocent adventures as an adult.. I have a Bull terrier called Asterix as well!

Sounds fine, I wouldn't get to concerned about the mix at all. I have grown Trichs in every type of soil from solid clay in NZ to what looks like pure sand here in my garden in SA and they have all grown beautifully. Your mix sounds like it will drain fine, bit of fertiliser and your away. Getafix

Columnar Flower Buds. Got some ? Post them here.
Getafix replied to Hellonasty's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Okay nothing too special here but this is my FIRST ever Trich to flower so a bit special to me. My garden is young and I am sure I will have flowers a plenty in the future. -
I bought the 50% grade shade cloth. It still lets plenty of light through but is giving a nice filtered light. It is also the cheapest one! I got caught out too. The cacti that got a toasting yesterday had been in full sun for months. There must be a very fine tolerance, like 2 degrees in temperature rise where they go from being okay to being burnt. I
