I'd say its got about another 25 days or so to ripen up with my weather. It's skin is still really smooth and you can actually see the bands of growth form each day.

As for weighing it, I am not sure.

probably another 50+kg or so I hope. I'd say its close to 130kg now. I'd be really happy with a 200kg pumpkin this time round. I mean it might go bigger? I really don't know. Its starting to get powdery mildew and some of the leaves are looking haggard.. I don't know how much is left in it?

Red have you thought about putting one in for the ekka competition? Need to plant out late December for a May 10th weigh in?

Had a heap of rain yesterday arvo. Sprayed the pumpkin for powdery mildew this morning. Its looking good seems to really pack on the weight when the whole vine gets a drink.

not sure if they are photoperiod sensitive. I think its pretty standard to have 10:1 sort of ratio of sex of flowers initially you get a massive cluster of males and one or two females on main leader and bigger secondaries. Then as they get bigger they seems to slow up on the males and then have a few more females forming on end of secondary leaders.

yeah its marketed as Hawaiian sweet potato. white skin purple flesh its in the ones near me. Or try the markets the venders always have them of late. I've got a few plants in pots I was using for slips you can have its vigours, long vining.

Triple boost 10 10 10 has made mine pup like mad I think the key is a balance nute for pupping and most probably the specific genetics of the cultivar.

I use these guys products I rate the triple boost pro. Also the folia drench trace element sprays. http://batphone.com.au/ from Brissy too.

25 days set. Had shitloads of rain here, everything seems to be ok so far. Keeping up with the powdery mildew to date. The milk spray works.

Haiwain sweet potato is sold at coles and woollies. Or you can get it at the markets.

depending on the cultivar the leaves can be used like baby spinach in salads or steamed. I have a really awesome cultivar with soft salad green leaves that produces small yellow/white tubers that or steam well. You can have a some cuttings if you like?

I really don't know, we were going to blow it up. But I think I might try and turn it into soup for a shelter? Just depends if it tastes OK I guess.
