Cool man I have a few different salvias not just splendens and am going to collect some more so give me a few weeks and I tried two experiments with S splendens today I chewed some flowers from a blue S splendens and definitely got some effect and later in the day tried a few leaves from a red variety which made me feel odd as well. I also have a Salvia guaranitica and another Salvia that I can't remember but is supposed to heighten memory and recall. Once I do some testing I want to try and make a blend and see what happens.

I am curious as to what is deemed more pungent psychoactivity the flowers or the leaves, as I am new to experimenting with this plant I am curious to know other peoples opinions regarding what is best to use the flowers or the leaves?

or could be or S guaranitica I haven't done enough research to be able to classify them but I think it will definitely be a bit of a hobby this summer.

Did a google and the top pic is I by my untrained eye Salvia splendens "blue ribbon"
-
That is great news now for doing the research.
Cool I was wondering if you guys could id these guys for me too.
I think its a S elegans but I don't know.

I only just got it, so unsure of the seed setting ability. I also found some SALVIA guaranitica from the markets today which apparently contains some interesting stuff. I may have to give the Salvias a better look.

I tasted a flower chewing it up and then spat it out, it was very bitter. I'm thinking I might have to do some research with this one, I think it might have some magic.

so would you say this is a micropyhilla hybrid?
-
I have been collecting various salvia for the garden just an uknown hybrid I think but does anyone know this type and has it any potential?
-
Thank you very much, that was fast.

After reading some more Tagete lucida most beneficial use may be with nausea and as a calmative during peyote/ san pedro ceremonies?
-
From what I have read the drying process can destroy alot of the potency so the key I think is subtle quick drying, I think a strong tea of this in conjuncture with smoking this and maybe a blend of Tagetes minutus? spelling ( stinking roger plant).
-
So I have procured a nice Tagetes lucida specimen. Has anyone got much experience growing this interesting herb, I have only started doing a little research on it but has been used extensively in mexican spiritual ceremonies in combination with other plants. Its also an excellent hangover cure and apparently a natural anti depressant.

This is also true Philocacti I love coco canna best and simplest hydroponic system. Whether it can be adapted to cacti is yet to be seen.
-
yep your right the two top pics are complete canna coco media Its an experiment They are roughly 6 cm deep in media which in the hot house takes around 4 days to dry out completely. I think in summer I might see some beneficial growth and in winter I will keep it completely dry. I'm not saying I'm going to see great results but I am a massive canna cocco fan and I was curious as to how it will work. I also have 1 E pachanoi in cocco and one in traditional mix both running quarter strength nutes over summer to see how it fly's. I read somewhere that it has been done in controlled environments, because it is an opened door mini hothouse inside a greenhouse the heat should be there to pull it off and it will not get any extra unwanted water/ moisture. If I can get great growth than it will be justified I think.

Mammillaria Bombycina. cool it is an amazing looking cacti, Went and bought a few more today, they are truely Alien looking plants.
-
The Gymnos are cool it produces a heap of pups they do really well in my climate if you keep them out of full sun.

I grow a bit of everything a lot of mexican herbs and culinary plants. Chillis, tomatillos, epazote. My brother in law and I are starting a fair collection or more interesting stuff you guys might be interested in.
-
I currently don't have a big collection and alot of what I keep is cacti that I have found that I think is pleasing to the eye,
but I do have a couple interesting E pachanoi hybrids that I look forward to growing out.
Gymnocalycium denudatum

I have had alot of carnivorous plants because they require wet feet they tend to provide a good environment for mozzies more than actually control populations.
But they are very very cool.
Try to get rid of any stagnant water if mozzies are bad honestly the best bet are some sort of citronella candle or coil also they dislike wind movement so a hand helf abttery fan will blow them away too.
