Jox pic of one of your babies I grafted about 8 I think all are 5 ribs except for one. heres a cool one the mice love these guys is weird I had to put them in a protected area, anyway the mice ate the apical growth point out of this one so it pupped one of my favourite grafts

Anyone used charcoal in potting mixes before?
Stillman replied to gtarman's topic in Cacti & Succulents
We use it it seems to help for the rot prone ones if you can get it cheap enough it can't hurt. Alot of the QLD cacti society people use a mix based around this and volcanic rock. -
Looking for photos of Trichocereus flowers

Michael and KP thanks for posting interest in the thread. I hope to get some sequencing done on the the above species,or at leasts examples of these phenotypes that I have access too. Am currently attempting to organise access to the labs for the end of the year. I believe ( and this is mostly from reading both your opinions and work) pachanoi, peruvianus, macrogonus and cuzcoensis is one greater specie with scopulicola & bridgesii falling into another category. And the pachanot I believe is a f1 hybrid in my opinion a good example pc pach x scopulicola spine variation in the progeny is extreme. I am still hoping to get some Australian photos too, and known hybrid flowers are welcome too. -
Hi guys am looking to compile a flower data base for the following Trichocereus species. If anyone has some sold photos of blooms from specific species (groups)would be much appreciated. Specifically these four species categories Hybrid flowers welcome but only if both parents are known. T.pachanoi T.macrogonus T.peruvianus T.bridgesii T.scopulicola T cuzcoensis Either attach here in this thread or pm me and I will give you an email address to send to. Much appreciated.

Looking for photos of Trichocereus flowers
Stillman replied to Stillman's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I am looking for reasonably close up shot of flowers front on shots so we can make out stigma and anthers also shots of plant etc. The idea is to build a data base to actually classify the plants from a true botanical prospective. Down the track I hope to back this up with some genetic mapping. But the flower data base is a great way to start. -
So update of some of those grafted Astro crosses I made. There is a very high percentage of monstrose growth not hugely monstrose but not symmetrical either. I sent a few of these crosses out has anyone else seen any weirdness? Will be interesting to see if they continue to display monstrose growth or revert to normal growth

I am happy to trial any new and and interesting ferts on various flowering plants if you get it up and rolling Big Red. I just bought some Boost actually, when used with PK13 14 I've found it exceptional. We messed around with it when I was growing Chilli and it definitely increased yield. To the point where plants were losing limbs due to so much fruit. Was expensive but worth the play. I'm thinking about using it on my flowering cacti this year to see if it will help increase flowering period and bloom number, I guess it may even increase fruit size? If you have any articles regarding this I'd love to have a read.

Albino and variegated traits in Trichocereus seedlings
Stillman replied to Stillman's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I have a few heavily varigated lobivia hybrids, they are almost white in places others are turning pink. I think when they get that pink red its because of anthocyanin pigments being dominant over any functional chloroplasts. How old was that little white one before you grafted it? it looks like it slacking in all pigmentation pretty cool. -

How can you say scientology is a load of shit .... cures homosexuals and is going to take us to outer space (if we pay heaps of money to do the right lessons). Why do you think John Travolta loves that shit so much lol... Don't get me started on Tom Cruise. lol Did anyone ever read what Burroughs wrote regarding them? Pretty funny.
