Desert Yam Ipomoea costata Grow log.

Received the seed today. Very impressed with the size of the pods. I believe they are extremely different to everything I have but could just be environmental. -
Is it true that named clones are negligibly different from standard varieties?
Stillman replied to Glass Roots's topic in Cacti & Succulents
You can start in PDs photo gallery he has listed alot of big clone names. Unfortunately no photos of flowers but maybe he has them as well. Its a very good starting place. http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?app=gallery&album=56 -

http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?app=galleryℑ=3359 heres another photo of PDs this is Psycho0 x spachianus, I have a couple kind of like this. But nothing like the two fat ones above. They have really red black spines which I think will look very cool when they get big.

yeah I'm using it as a soak in combination with "Triple Boost" 3 in one fertiliser. Looks and smells a hell of a lot like Canna BIO organic vega...

Premium potting mix = 28% large, un-composted woodchips
Stillman replied to gtarman's topic in Ethnobotany
Not sure on the wetting agent. I use the premium potting mix for everything sometimes I add a little sand but lately I have just let it go as is. I feed twice or three times a week in summer. You get the old shitty bag but as a whole for an off the shelf product thats cheap its not to bad. -
Anyone know much about molasses as an additive to fertiliser? It apparently will promote microbial colonies in the soil. Also allegedly helps uptake of fertilisers to an extent. I'm doing some trials with it on sweet potato and tubers this spring/ summer. Might use it on my Pumpkin too. Apparently it is used as a foliar spray by Giant Pumpkin growers?

We use Searls potting mix IME this is the most consistent product on the market. 18 for a 60litre bag I think which is alot of mix. -
D rupicola D elephantipes D hemicrypta D sylvatica My babies are starting to grow, the D syvatica already have very small tubers the size of a pea I guess.

Not sure if anyone is as keen on a thread dedicated to caudiciform plants as me lol. But thought I would start one. I only have a small collection but am slowly acquiring more. I'm really keen on the South African and greater African Dioscorea species at present slow growers apparently but impressive once they get some size. Heres some little fellas I recently aquired. http://s111.photobucket.com/user/stillmanz/media/Sweet%20potato%20and%20Yams%20etc/DSCF2030_zpsc69d42bc.jpg.html'> http://s111.photobucket.com/user/stillmanz/media/Sweet%20potato%20and%20Yams%20etc/DSCF2026_zpsbe59c41b.jpg.html'> http://s111.photobucket.com/user/stillmanz/media/Sweet%20potato%20and%20Yams%20etc/DSCF2025_zpse1641ca4.jpg.html'> http://s111.photobucket.com/user/stillmanz/media/Sweet%20potato%20and%20Yams%20etc/DSCF2023_zps0f943f86.jpg.html'> http://s111.photobucket.com/user/stillmanz/media/Sweet%20potato%20and%20Yams%20etc/DSCF2022_zpscc98fdd1.jpg.html'> http://s111.photobucket.com/user/stillmanz/media/Sweet%20potato%20and%20Yams%20etc/DSCF2021_zps2ee7de2e.jpg.html'>
