Comparing Cultivars of the main three trich's

Cultivars; Here is what I want,... I want Trich's that flower in tropical conditions. So if any of you live somewhere between the sub-tropics and tropics and get trich's that flower,... I would love a cutting. Another trait I would like it for them to be less rot prone. T. Bridgedsii's for example are the most rot prone. Peruvianus have withstood fair amounts of rain. What traits would you guys like to see in the trich's??? Flower color,... variegation, growth speed,.. mutations :D ????

    the future

in 100 years from now all GM food will produce psychedelic substances in 500 years from now, we will have genetically modified genes to produce mescaline with our own bodies......... in 1000 years from now,... we will all have morphed into tipping blobs of flesh,.... leaching and secreting juices and absorbing nutes directly from the ground,.. blobbing around in sexual kundalini arousal ..........life will be one long psychedelic orgasm

I like it. Any cactus that pups is cool. And indeed persk is probably the reason it pups. Hehehe,... now,... what I would love to see is a mutation where another pup, comes out of the pup and then maybe another one.

    Ornamentals & GH nursery

Just came back from a trip to The Netherlands. Some pics are of my own and some of the nursery in the netherlands. This nursery is in the region in the netherlands of the worlds largest flower auction. didn't get a chance to go look,.. but drove past it and,... yes it is ffing big. My inlaws live 5 minutes by bike from the cactus nursery,... so needless to say I visited as ofthen as I could. And made many more pics then the ones I shared so far,.. will try to share some more soon. The 2 flowering plants are my own, a Matucana Madisinorum and a coryphanta? I think < wanna help me ID this one :D The fields of Lophops are mostly sold to the "smart shops" and to large order overseas customers. The TBM is almost as thick as my arm! SICK!!!!

    [REQUEST] Astrophytum caput medusae

hahaha,... also looking for this one. that is how I bumped on this thread searching the net for seeds, and then I thought I should let myself be heard hahaha,.. have been in lurk mode for some time. I was on vacation in The Netherlands and there someone gave me a cutting that wasn't in such good shape and it didn't survive long enough,.. I still tried grafting it in case there was still enough life in it. so back to square one. But now I do have an excellent addy in The Netherlands and he already told me he could get me them for only a couple of Euro's a piece :D > this guy http://www.succulenta-kwekerij.nl/ < more then 50 years of collecting.... a collection that will not fail to impress.

    The Surfing Thread

yeb,.. the caribbean mates. not a bad place to live. cept sometimes I wish the surf and the fishing was a bit better. thankfully I get days off work easily to go fishing or surfing when it is "on!". one of the things I don't like about where I live is that tricho's don't want to flower hahahaha. I guess I will have to live with that. another thing I am really thankful for is that there are no critters living here that can kill people.

    The Surfing Thread

I'm from the caribbean somewhere and absolutely hooked on surfing.... I might have posted before on this thread somewhere... you aussies have some amazing surf. conditions in the southern carib are not really happening most of the year,...mosty windswells of less then 9 sec period. so not allot of heavy wave action ,... barreling waves are not common,... just nice walls,.. and usually short. in the winter (northern hemi) when we are lucky get some good north swell to come through the upper island chain off of the north atlantic........ and then some spots light up that are usually not really happening . in the hurricane season when we are lucky there will a few storms that can light up some reefs with some pretty good surf.... like really shallow speedy barrels. There are a few gems that light up with a good north swell or with a hurricanes..... and we go absolutely crazy and drop everything that we are doing if we can to score some. One of those gems is an absolute beast at the take off when it gets a few feet overhead............ it is a right hand point break on a small island nearby that wraps around.......... let me see if I can get a pic

    Mutant lophophora graft?

Sclaws,... yes,... grow some of the pups with roots on their own, to risk manage your plant. And of course do share/trade with the rest of the community :-)
  23. woof woof woof

    Wet-tolerant grafting stock...

Not all tricho's are wet tolerant. Bridgedsii is usually the first one to rot. Patchanoii go next,.... Peruvianus seems to be the most humidity & wet tolerant of them all. Cerues are definatey more tolerant. They should be able to withstand 1200 mm in the sub tropics and tropics. Hylocerues is a definate winner when it comes to humidity and or lots of percipitation.
