    Horny Goat Weed

Could someone explain why Horny Goat Weed is allowed on the market in Australia, and Yohimbine from Yohimbe is not? My first guess is that research material given to the TGA and maybe tests conducted by the TGA have shown Horny Goat Weed isnt' a real aphrodisiac, but Yohimbine is, and as aphrodisiacs are illegal in Australia that explains the situation. Or is there some other reason? I can't get past the blurb on horny goat weed products that can be found in pretty much every chemist claiming it has aphrodisiac properties, yet if true, would not be legal to sell, import or (maybe?) possess in Australia. Lucid Dreaming

Kava works for you, but definitely not for me. Many say 5htp & melatonin are amazing, but does nothing for me Only thing so far that I have tried which I find remarkable is the anti depressant amitriptyline. I got a prescription the other week, for the sole purpose of dreaming. I would guess but not sure, after a period of time the brain may adjust and the dreams are not as real, but I only stay on them for a couple of weeks, Dr's don't think they're very healthy and most will only prescribe for severe depression not treatable by ssri's etc. Dreams are so intense and realistic, but not all good, some you'd describe as nightmares. I would like to think once I become more skilled I could turn off the nightmares.

    What plant is this?

Impressive detective work. Damn that wasnt' much of a mystery. I was not thinking 'everyday neighbourhood plants' the way it was presented, in a manner giving the impression those evil plants were only responsible for missing tourists in that area because they did not grow or were not widely known about elsewhere. http://www.insightnewstv.com/c54/ [ 10. Kava

I use 1 heaped tablespoon per each large coffee mug of kava I drink. Normally if i'm after an effect, I drink usually 2 cups, sometimes 3. Kava kneeded through fine cloth into cold water in a large bowl. I drink it in party social situations and it's always combined with alcohol and often weed. It's effect is a sort of euphoria when conversing with people. I liken it to speed with it's abilty to make you talk when normally you've got nothing to say or really couldt' be bothered talking. Alcohol plus kava is thought to be dangerous for some people, those not lacking enzymes (my theory) to deal with breaking down the kava maybe. Fijians often drink chasers of alcohol after each bilo, they don't have any sort of dramatic liver illness epidemic going on, but maybe it's because they all do have the (liver?) enzymes to deal with kava. South Australian supplier of Kava?

grammar never has been a strong point, pounded on the 24th. I mention water blasting because sometimes dealers are too lazy to do it, and expect you to scrape the roots with a knife. If roots aren't cleaned with a water blaster or scraped pounding is a health hazzard and ofcourse the drink tastes bitter and muddy.

  10. Hi, My T. Spachianus and Pachanoi have started budding, Pachanoi quite advanced, Spachianus still pretty small. Problem is I"ll be away untill the 23rd Dec. Anyway of slowing down the budding process so that I could see them flower when I return. I thought maybe sticking them in the shade or even the spare fridge. I wouldn't like to do anything to harm the development of the flower though, just slow it down. Is it possible?

    Trichocereus flowers

Hi Trich, well I got home the other day, and was told the T. Pachanoi was just about to open up but wiltered and the bud fell off. I was told in the couple of days previous it was taken inside, due to an impending hail storm. and I have to think it was moving the cactus that fucked it. Wasn't here so no idea if it was physical shock that damaged the bud, it's new enviroment for that short period or if the bud was actually knocked accidently. I"M pretty annoyed but I still have my T. Spachianus is about to flower any day, so i'm glad about that. And it's not being moved anywhere!.

    Trichocereus flowers

Oh that's good to hear, unforunatly my Pachanoi seems to be on steroids, it's turned from a hairy mole to a rather large bud in maybe 5 days, though the other is slow. I"ve not seen the Spachianus flower before, so as long as i'm back for that, I"ll be happy

    Hallucinations

Anyone whose ever been to a magistrages court will know consumption of alcohol is a mitagating circumstance. Doesn't matter what the defendant is charged with, the solicitor will always bring it to the attention of the judge that his client only behaved the way he did due to the influence of alcohol. It seems strange the laws that govern this country reduce the penalty imposed for an offence, simply because the defendant is a piss head. Obviously the courts take into account the defendants "altered consciousness" while commiting the offence, the rational being, the person is normally of good character. I can't not see the comparisons between alcohol and the hallucinogens, and find it interesting that it is accepted in law that alcohol is a mind altering substance, and we even make allowances in our legal system for it's negative side effects, yet there is no room at all to tolerate the more beneign hallucinogens (pot, mushies, lsd, etc) that even if legal surely wouldn't create the social problems of alcohol and definatly not same level of physical damage.

    Mushroom Inarticulation

eves, Is it still the elves? Well my elf finds that mushrooms even at small "fun" amounts is causing him to have real problems speaking. No confusion mentally, but putting thoughts into words, is just not happening. First experienced this with a high dose, not able to talk or walk, and so did a friend taking the same amount. But since then, it's embarressing to be in social situations with even 2 dried grams of mushies, (my elf tells me}, due to the problem with speech. It's the last of the effects to wear off too. Is this a common side effect for others? The species being Copelandia cyanescens

    Mushroom Inarticulation

speaking of inarticulation, I think i'm guilty of that ,with what I was trying to convey. The speaking problem is not due to a over loading of the senses or altered perception or anything, it just seems to be a side effect of the mushrooms. My elf had a mini-stroke once (no permanent damage that he's aware off) and the problem with speech seemed frighteningly the same. You can be calm, thoughts are oganised and mostly normal, someone may come up to you and start talking, and the inability to talk isn't recognised untill an attempt is made to actually speak, words just aren't formed. I have not done any tests, though I think elfy is going to, but I would hazzard a guess that even at doses where the effects are barely noticable the mute'ing power of the mushrooms will still be evident. I"m wondering if this is unique to Copelandia cyanescens, as this problem has only been apparent with this species. Picture below of this species (I think renamed now) incase you've had these, but just didnt' know what they were called. Prob only found in Oz in Qld and Nsw. EDIT: I think basically what i'm saying is, does anyone think this species may contain actives other than psilocybin and psilocin that could be responsible? [ 07. Happy New Years!

Yeah the capitalistic nature was a shock to us. I wasn't going to pay those entry fees, plus the 15% surcharges many were trying on. We went down there, for no other reason than hearing people talking about byron is the place to be, and well it wasnt' unless you wanted to spend shit loads of money, the free concerts were terrible, and didnt' appear to be holding anyone's interest. So we were left with small private parties, gate crashing a wedding, watching the fireworks, and hanging around just talking to people on the beach (where everyone else that wasnt' prepared to pay extortionate fees was), but there was no entertainment as such other than personal interaction. Still, the police seemed well behaved,, well perhaps other than pepper spraying a guy who seemed to be having a bad trip outside the great northern.

    Happy New Years!

The Police at Byron were great (unless I only know what I saw, and they were complete bastards elsewhere) . They didn't have any problems with people on the beach letting fireworks off,, drinking alcohol, smoking pot, having sex. Almost like the beach presented some sort of immunity against prosecution. Although people weren't as blatent with smoking infront of officers on the street, it was still happening, and I didnt' observe any confiscations or arrests. And probably because of the 'turning a blind eye' angle, the crowds could not focus any anger towards them, and there were no problems of that nature. Too bad their leniancy only lasts for one night a year.
  21. STATE authorities have launched a pre-emptive strike against the latest overseas drug crazes by banning four drugs even though they have not yet appeared in Queensland. Premier Peter Beattie said yesterday that designer drugs called BZP, TFMPP and 2C-I had been banned in Queensland as from yesterday(20th dec). Also outlawed was the plant salvia divinorum (salivia divinorum) – a Mexican native chewed or smoked by users for an effect similar to that caused by hallucinogen LSD. "These drugs are already a scourge overseas and police intelligence reports suggest they could appear in Queensland," Mr Beattie said.

"Reefer Madness" and other bad acting

DVD-R's are pretty affordable now, $3.75, though I agree with the other poster, rip it to VCD (if movie is less than 83 minutes) or dual SVCD disks if movie is longer. That way people with stand alone DVD players could watch as well as those with only a cdrom in their computer. [This message has been edited by blog (edited 26 December 2002).]

    cacti flowers.

one of my san pedros(or is it a scop) has a nice huge bud on it at the moment. This is the first time it's flowered. I planted it(a 6 inch cutting) at the beginning of spring 2 years ago. I"ll try and take a picture of it, if I discover the bloom before the heat of the day gets to it EDIT Actually could someone advise me if I can bring it indoors now, keep it inside untill the flower wilts, or does the plant require the energy of the sun even after the bud has formed for it to flower? "THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE IS NOT NEGOTIABLE"

The last time I was at a magistrates court, a guy was being charged with ... well I don't know exactly, but his crime was that he said "I smell bacon" in front of a police officer. The guy pleaded guilty and got a nice fat fine. I was disgusted that something so trivial could get you arrested, and put before a court. Anyway, back to american bashing.
