    Whats in a name?

My current username is pretty self explanatory . Other than that my username would usually be OpticalLight. "Optical light is only a small part of the much more expansive electromagnetic spectrum that includes everything from so-called gamma rays at the shortest wavelengths to radio waves at the longest wavelengths." 1. I chose that name because it reminds me that what we humans can visually perceive is only a small part of what is out there, kinda mysterious. 2. When I was a wee one I went to a Sesame Street concert and all the other little kiddies had hand held optical light torches which I thought were just purdy. 3. Reminds me of old school optical fibre internet, and as this is an internet forum it seemed fitting. 4. I was lurking back when Darklight was modding and posting a lot and I thought her name was rad.

I'd be keen if it was in the northern areas, Berowra's just up the road from me; Lane Cove's pretty close too. The zoom on my camera is pretty shoddy, though.

    3rd annual NSW Camp.

Thanks again El presidente to you and your mates for putting this on, was heaps of fun and a good way to unwind. Always a pleasure catching up with you toby Dat's ma name , also; thanks for the plants Aw man, I didn't start driving until night time on the Saturday so I got lost driving on that road for a coupla hours! I almost got stuck a number of times and it wasn't even that damp. Was driving down this massive fucker of a hill going deeper into the forest on one of the side roads when I decided urgggh maybe this ain't such a good road to be driving on. Was freaking out when I was trying to drive up the hill again and I was trying to turn and the wheels where just going round and round.... Lucky I got out of there! I also ended up in a trail bike riders camp before I found everyone, but they did feed me beef stew and wine so I can't complain

    The just-world theory.

I think it can be useful to acknowledge that this phenomenon does actually exist in society, at least in some people. It can be particularly useful to know it exists if something misfortunate happens to you personally, and in your recounting said incident to a friend they turn around and say - "oh you were asking for it etc', instead of getting all riled up you can step back and say to yourself, okay that's their belief system. Now I'm not saying that there aren't some circumstances where the person isn't asking for it, but I'm talking about occacions where the victim was minding their own business.

The above statement seems to be a perfect example of the just world theory in action.

The Secret Life of Chaos, Tonight 8:30 on SBS

Thanks for the heads up The Dude, really intriguing doco. The patterns in the bz reactions they had going in the petri dishes were eerily beautiful, and the mandelbrot sets in HD were yummy.

    Rainbow Serpent festival 2011

Was downloading photos from my camera today and found this... This was just in front of where I was standing at the main stage for D-Nox, if you were light enough you could rock back and forth on the mud and sort of mud surf; otherwise if you were slightly more built the above would happen .

    New friend

Your kitten is very cute eatfoo, love how he's sitting on the couch with his little legs under him. My flatmate just adopted a girl kitten a couple of days ago, she's only a bit over eight weeks old and she's tiny.
