Someone raised the point that these were found is the busiest hunting ground in Victoria so its surprising some of the regular hunters didn't spot these
-
Bang nice work there!!

Where I am all that has turned up for the first time is Suillus bovinus which is ok but it aint porcini!
-
And the muscaria found in natives you speak of definitely wasn't amanita xanthocephala? They do look pretty different but to a novice they could be mistaken due to the similar redness of the cap.
[EDIT] - Don't worry, answered my own question.
Hi - no it was definately muscara. I have photos some where. Suillus granatulas has also adopted native tea trees as a host and Tricholoma terreum turns up in all sorts of native settings now days as well. They are spreading ;)

yeah the summers there are cold compared to ours. The winters are frosty.
I met a guy who collected west-coast USA's version of the king bolete/edulis under spruce if i remember correctly (two hours sleep so I might be wrong). Oak is the norm in the UK though.
-
Amanita muscara has been found in remote eucy forest miles from any introduced species. Apparently the host can change

Very very cool. Come on yarra ranges! Do it too

The fact its under pine supports that its edulis as most collections in sa have been under pine.
i found Suillus bovinus the other day so new mycorrhizal passengers are popping up each year

Thanks for all the replies ill think it over. Room wise wife now thinks we might need h frames with pine sleepers. Ugly...

Haha thanks guys we thought about tyres actually. Yeah side load may be significant but its only 2.5 feet so not super high. Food for thought anyway. Id sooner put the effort in than pay someone $$$ and then come home to a crappy job

I havent seen it but im told that human centrepede is terrible.

We have to build two retaining walls both about 2.5 feet high and ofcourse our budget is way low.
After dreaming about rock and other expensive options we were considering trying earthbagging.
Anyone else used this method and can it be used for functional retaining walls or just aesthetic ones?
thanks heaps!!

Hey folks - I collected a few wild specimens of what people around here call the 'rosy' or 'winecap' agaricus which we have deduced is actually Agaricus austrovinaceus. I cloned several and one took quite well and was transferred to a medium-sized bag of compost. When this colonised it was buried in a garden bed and in June 2014.
to my surprise after so long the bag fruited after heavy rain last week.
Schweet!

If they arent on the aqis list you cant import them but i dont think non list species are illegal to sell or posess. As an example 'white chestnut mushrooms' and maitake are not on the list but people grow and sell them at markets

Its an aggressive little prick no doubt.

If the spores were more black another possibility is Stropharia rugosoannulata which seems to love growing from poo in Australia.
