Lovely Cactilicious sent me a bunch of cacti seeds when I supported the server fund last year. However, I'm a bit more of a fun-gi, and wondering if anyone wants to do a swap for a print of something interesting? Have got: Monarto Spineless Scop (MSS) x RITA (30x) Helon x Scop Hulk (30x) Eileen OP SG (100x) Eulychnia SP (30x) Lemaireocereus thurberi (30x)

Hey gang, long time but I'm looking for a sub print. I'm terrible at finding them in the wild and this season was no different! Any help much appreciated.

Hi spooge, that's a great idea. I've just made a $40 donation, because from looking at my profile I've been a member for over 15 years...a little overdue for contributing! Here's a screencap. Thanks again and great initiative.

i've used a 'pure distilling' one, copper and mostly not for essentials- but a great reference site is www.homedistiller.org

hiya. i think it looks fine. it's probably small formations (i.e. fruit bodies) squishing up against glass- result of not birthing the cake soon enough. you will see the myc bruising to an ochre-colour and sometimes a yellowish liquid if they're left in there way too long. it can still be fruited fine. take note of the smell just in case. i find if it smells deep and mushroomy in a good way then they're probably fine. gauge your gut reaction when u smell it: if its an earthy satisfaction (akin to self fart-smelling) they're ok; if it's a tangy or bitey or offensive at all, it's probably your brain breaking the news that you have to get back in the kitchen again.

where can you find baggies for prints?
save_the_whales replied to save_the_whales's topic in Mycology
yeah man thats it! i hate those giant glad bags so much! except for breaking up spawn, of course.. then they're great. although im probably just paranoid, bare hands is probably fine, if not good, for it. funny how uncomfortable i feel asking at shops for things like plastic baggies.. no problems telling hardware people im growing mushrooms, its just that classic drug paraphenalia that makes me feel on the spot -

cool, helpful little animals... anyone wanna go to norfolk island on a fishing trip? heh heh

Hi guys I was talking with some mates at school earlier this week and we were wondering about this. anyone know of anything? animal, vegetable, mineral? anything marine or freshwater at all...?

those are some wacky things. cool search results. looks like I have ammo for monday mornings post lecture coffee chat now. there's seaweed that does it too. and people eating bird's nest soup have copped hallucinatory effects, due to consupmtion of this seaweed that the bird chose to use in its nest. that'll teach em. though after seeing the rickety bamboo rigging so high up the cliffs in thailand, good luck to the guys who collect it. that stuff was tens of metres high in some places, linked by single bamboo sticks.. fark that.

hi all, well after everyone's generosity with prints, i persuaded my dutch friend to show some photos of his achievements. these are ecuadors, BRF jars cased with 50/50+lime and gypsum. fruited in tupperware boxes, tub in tub for heat. airstone under perlite for FAE (constantly on), with two 4" holes in the tops filled with polyfill. seemed to work great. rH was at 100% most of the time and didn't seem to adversely affect the fruits. i was surprised by the thin stems. short little fellas too. good pinset though, not bad for his first casing attempt (and a multispore at that). i know that he is sending lots of prints to the FSRE and also some here soon. its interesting to note that he had 2 casing trays. the first was this one. the other one, he ran out of 50/50 mix, so used half that and half Verm for the casing layer. it pinned 3 days later, and the flush was only about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of this casing that i'm showing you. Thanks Harry. cheers, whale breath.

ah yeah well i did. good point. i was trying to work out ratios of casing layer to substrate, but it makes sense that there is a degree of substrate which is a minimum to start with. in this light grain makes sense i guess. revs rice cooker tek seems to work well, even with only boiling pot sterilisation method (2 hrs).. the grains have not contamned yet, despite some of them sitting for more than 4 weeks.
-
awesome, well i have learned two things already. good point on the casing depth, this one was only 25% of substrate depth. time to experiment. i will try less rH too! not totally sure how, might leave lids off a bit, though it led to a little too much drying of casing.. might need a timer for that airstone. too many gadgets can = too much buggerising around! thanks for my birthday advice! man im feeling old. and who wants to get up early on their birthday? not me!

this bloke is good, i got his name from on here http://www.multipointtechnologies.com.au/C...ration_Weights/ i picked up some 200gx .01 scales from him today in melb, he operates out of his house. cheap, seem accurate (displays 5c coin as 2.8g - correct!) he sold me a 200g weight for $5. though i had to endure his whining about ebay, and his slobbery dogs. and his 10min phone call. !

thanks heaps guys. i just wanted to say how great the spirit of this place is, sharing information and seeds. Its a wonderful thing. keep your eyes open for the "save the whales surplus stock doors doors doors best ever friggin tops give away we got stock and its all gotta go out the door spore bonanza" in the not-too-distant cheers all.

hi guys, i'm looking for a print, as its been a little while since i last needed one for my microscopy and i didn't have foresight enough to keep some agar in the fridge. P.cub, any var would be great, and i can only offer cash to you as my plant collection is non-existant. i know i've asked some of you via PM already, sorry for the repetition. i have been registered here for a number of years, so hopefully you can trust that i am a worthwhile cause despite my silent member approach! i will return prints to you, the FSR(nl) and on this trade list. by the way, I know I could get them from o/s, but i just have itchy feet, that's all. if i get no go from you guys, i will give FSRnl a crack, so there's no probs if thats the case cheers, tom.

hello all, i am confused. I can't suss out whether Claude's (you know who!) last name is de Contrecouer OR Rifat. The webpage has de Contrecouer and a lot of writings have Rifat or just plain old Claude... anyone got any ideas? thanks, whale-breath
