How big were the cuttings you did? Did you put it in some sort of greenhouse for humidity? Maybe I'm giving them too much humidity.
The first time I tried it pretty much like you said but in their own pots and in a mini greenhouse. they just wilted after a few hours and never came back up, the leaves were starting to get black at the tips after about a week. I tried in plain water and same thing, plus rotten stems.
-
Some new seedlings poked their heads the past couple days:
- Psychotria elata ("Hooker's Lips")
The picture was taken a few days ago, I see 3 more starting to pop up in the same pot now. Germination took a little over a week, straight to soil. I have a bunch of these seeds up for trades if anyone is interested.
- Heimia Salicifolia ("Sinicuichi")
Glad to see these seeds are easy to germinate. For some reason I couldn't get any sinicuichi cuttings to root on my last 2 attempts. I took 4 new cuttings today to try again.
If anyone has some tips for successfully rooting cuttings of this plant it would be much appreciated.
- Rivea Corymbosa ("Ololiuqui")
A friend of mine gave me some few years old seeds a few months ago but I couldn't get any to germinate. Ordered some fresh seeds and they sprouted in less than a week.
Bonus pic, 3 of my lophophora flowering at pretty much the same time

Yesterday morning I woke up to a goddamn couple of hippie snails having wild phenetylaminated sex next to the pots of those poor cacti they munched on.
The dirty beatniks were even fornicating in front of their children, suffice to say I flung the whole family for a one-way flight to the moon
Anyways I tried to make the best of it and grafted a loph seedling on the munched pachanoi, hopefully this'll take.
On the bright side, I also woke up to this nice flower I hadn't even noticed was forming. Two other lophs also have buds that should open by tomorrow.
Oh and here are the peresks I was talking about in my previous post, the two pots with 3 little pachanois each are new buys too.

I've been tryna sprout them for years with zero success... , can you pm any good viable seed sources about ?
I just tried a new source in uk so maybe I'll be able to catch up on that species ...
Awesome gardening mate!
Loving the thread and learning cool stuffs..
ever seen a strain called Elite? , there's a few desireables out there that's for sure
Of course brother, I PM'd you the link. Hopefully you don't have to order again and the ones you already ordered do sprout.
I had pretty much 100% germination on mines, just make sure to plant them with the little tufty side pointing up or they'll have to turn around, that's were the cotyledons come out of. I also noticed it's good to cover them a little bit, don't let the tuft stick out of the soil or they'll have trouble standing up straight afterwards. They're pretty quick to sprout too, about 3~5 days.
Never heard of a strain called Elite, not sure what species you're talking about, is that a weed strain? Who's the breeder?
Thanks again for all the compliments dude

Some flowers are starting to pop up in the garden, pretty hyped about that I love when plants reward your work with some beautiful flowers.
My biggest Spilanthes starting to push out a bunch of flowers:
First poppy pod of the year starting to form, although the plant is still quite small
My Mexican Tarragon and Nicotinia Rustica plants are also starting to bud, I'll show you the flowers as soon as they open.
Also I bought this little Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus graft which was labeled as monstrose for cheap on the bay
Along with the ariocarpus came some very nice Pereskiopsis, 3 very thick ones labeled as Pereskiopsis sp. "Gigant" and a cristate one.
They'renot looking their best right now because of transport but I'll snap some pics tomorrow when they have perked back up.

Damn those are some nice plants Thunder! Very well done! Always love to see ethnobotanicals growing under LED as well since that's what I'm running too.
For some reason I can't get any harmala seeds to germinate, I tried some from a couple different sources, even tried halo-priming since I read an article about it working well with syrian rue but always no dice...
I guess since the seeds are sold mostly for consumption around here most vendors must have old and badly stored seeds, but I don't know, I heard they can stay viable for quite a while. Any tips?

Pretty much anywhere in western europe I would think, the ones I see usually come from spain or morocco. I'll make sure to take a pic next time

3 hours ago, Skellum said:Bought these badboys on ebay bout a week ago. Arrived today:
With a free sample fruit of both orange and red, I'm stoked lol. Will get to taste these things finally.
Very nice! Prickly pears are one of my favorite fruits ever, they taste amazing and they're easily found at the supermarket here.
In Morocco you have people with horse chariots full of the things selling them in the street and peeling them off for you, it's awesome.
Takes a little practice to peel them in one piece with a fork and knife, you want to cut slices off both ends then make a slit in the skin along the length and unroll the fruit with your fork.

Thank you Skellum, much appreciated.
This community seems a lot more welcoming and mature than the more popular blue one (wink wink), very happy to be able to share my botanical adventures with you guys.

Thanks, that's some good info right there about the Tasmanian poppies, thanks.
Ithink I heard about this norman breed and people were saying it has red latex instead of white latex, is that correct?
Not that I would ever harvest latex from my poppies, but if it is then it's good to know you can easily tell them appart.
Because wikipedia says a high dose of thebaine can cause convulsions similar to strychnine (rat poison) poisoning, that's no good for people who grow poppies for consumption.

Thank you so much for the kind words dude!
I definitely feel blessed to be able to go all in on my passion, I'm unemployed at the moment so I have all the free time I want, and hopefully I can make a little business out of selling cuttings & seeds.
I'm a little worried for the winter but I think I should have enough indoor space to keep at least one mother of each perennials in my 2x1m tent. Plus I can overwinter some plants inside the house if needed.
And yeah, sorry for the avalanche of pics & posts, I just had to kickstart the grow log, I'll make myself more discreet in the future. The plants I grow are legal for ornamental purposes here, which is the only reason I grow them for.

Look who came in the mail today, it's Sally and her twin!

I took some cuttings of my Sceletium tortuosum plant today.
I was able to take 12 cuttings and that allowed me to harvest a little handful of leaves that I'm going to try and prepare.
Anyone can outline the "oven tek" for me please? Sun fermentation seems a bit gross and I heard it doesn't really make a difference compared to oven drying.

Thanks man, appart from some of my cacti I started buying seeds & cuttings of everything you see 3 or 4 months ago tops.
Most plants have been started inside under a 300w full spectrum LED before putting them outside.

Greetings to all members of this wonderful community.
I have been lurking for a while, but now is time to contribute.
I'm really expanding my ethnobotanical garden this year, so what better place to share and get valuable input than the Corroboree.I started most of my plants from seeds with the exception of some cacti and a few cuttings of plants I was either not able to get to germinate or couldn't get my hands on the seeds.
So enough talking, let's see the plants!
Disclaimer: I live in Europe, in a country where all the plants I'm about to show you are legal to cultivate.
My Rubiaceae- Coffea Arabica ("Coffee")
I bought this cutting a couple months ago, it has put out some new leaves and seems to be doing good
- Mitragyna Speciosa ("Kratom")
Since I can't find cuttings anywhere here in europe, I started my kratom grow from seeds.
These are the Rifat strain, from 2 to 3 months old. The germination rate was pretty good, about 75%, certainly a lot more than I expected from reading about mitragyna germination online. The leftmost yellow pots are tiny Red Thai sprouts.
- Mitragyna Parvifolia ("Kaim")
Nothing to show yet but I started some seeds, will update if and when they sprout.
- Psychotria Viridis ("Chacruna")
I received these plants about 2 weeks ago and they've already both put out a new set of leaves, and pushing a second one. I'll be taking some leaf cuttings soon.
- Psychotria Alba ("Amyruca")
Given to me for free by the person I bought the Chacruna plants from, there are 4 or 5 separate plantlets.
- Tabernanthe Iboga ("Iboga")
I've had these plants for about 3 months, I kept the back 3 in a humid environment, and the front 3 in dry air to acclimatize. The back row have grown one new set of leaves in those 3 months, the others have shed all their leaves and are starting to grow new ones.
My Fabaceae- Acacia Acuminata (narrow phyllodes variety)
These sprouted about 3 weeks ago
- Acacia Confusa ("Formosan Koa")
These seedlings are a little over a month old
- Anadenanthera Peregrina ("Yopo")
About 10 days old seedling and others on day 1 of sprouting
- Chamaecrista Fasciculata ("Partridge Pea")
Sprouted about a week ago
- Desmanthus Illinoiensis ("Bundleflower")
Sprouted a couple weeks ago
- Mimosa Hostilis ("Jurema")
The seedlings in both pots are about a month old
- Mimosa Pudica ("Sensitive Plant")
About 2 months old seedling
My Lamiaceae
- Coleus Blumei
- Leonotis Leonurus ("Wild Dagga")
Nothing to show yet, started the seeds a few days ago
- Leonotis Nepetifolia ("Klip Dagga")
The plants are about 2 months old
- Leonurus Sibiricus ("Marijuanilla")
I had a plant (the dry stick) that flowered and set seeds, the sprouts come from that.
- Salvia Divinorum ("Diviner's sage")
Received the cuttings May 24th
My Asteraceae
- Artemisia Absinthium ("Wormwood")
Got the cutting a couple months ago, it has tripled in size.
- Calea Zacatechichi ("Mexican Dream Herb")
My 3 Calea plants from which I took a bunch of cuttings today as you can see in the pic
- Spilanthes Oleracea ("Toothache Plant")
Some of my Spilanthes plants, the biggest purplish one is starting to flower
- Stevia Rebaudiana ("Sweet Leaf")
Sprouted yesterday, took less than a week
- Tagetes Lucida ("Mexican Tarragon")
This seedling is about a month and a half, I have a bunch of other ones but this is the best looking so far.
My Vines- Argyreia Nervosa ("Hawaiian Baby Woodrose")
The bigger one is about 2-3 months old
- Banisteriopsis Caapi ("Ayahuasca")
I burned the leaves by spraying some epsom salts solution I had in my sprayer for other plants and forgot about. Anyone knows what's up with the very narrow leaved one? It definitely is caapi, I made sure the sprout came from a caapi seed when it sprouted. I have more seeds on the way to me right now.
- Ipomoea Tricolor ("Heavenly Blue")
The growth rate of these plants is incredible, this is about a month old seedling grown on a windowsill the whole time. I really need to find a place for it to climb.
- Ipomoea Violacea ("Morning Glory")
This is one of my morning glory seedlings, the other one sprouted in an other ethnobotanical plant's pot and is starting to climb it, pretty cool looking.
- Passiflora Incarnata ("Medicinal Passionflower")
My 3 cuttings and little unexpected seedling which sprouted over a month after being sown
My Active Succulents
- Bacopa Monnieri ("Brahmi")
- Cissus Quadrangularis ("Pirandai")
Got the cuttings from my mother's big plant, will post pictures of it soon
- Delosperma Cooperi ("Iceplant")
Got this one from my mother who was neglecting it
- Sceletium Tortuosum ("Kanna")
My bigger plant which was a small cutting a couple months ago, and some seedlings. I'm going to take cuttings of the bigger plant, I'll document the process.
My Active Cacti
I'll just post a family picture of my lophophora and ariocarpus collection, here are the species I have, just play where's Waldo
- Ariocarpus Fissuratus sp. ("Living Rock")
- Ariocarpus Fissuratus (var. Hintonii)
- Ariocarpus Fissuratus (var. Intermedius)
- Lophophora Williamsii ("Peyote")
- Variegated Lophophora Williamsii
- Lophophora Williamsii var. caespitosa ("Multi-headed Peyote")
- Lophophora Williamsii var. Grymii (Dwarf variety)
- Matucana Madisoniorum (not active but was once rumored to be)
If you really want to play where's Waldo, try to spot the variegated seedling in the last picture, it looks like it might turn out to look just like my bigger variegated loph. hint: it's in the lower right corner, above the 4 that are in a line.
Also peep the weird 3-headed seedling.
As for my trichocerei:
- Trichocereus Bridgesii ("Achuma")
The first one is about a meter tall and is the bluest cactus I've ever seen, it just started to root and put out some new growth. The second one is about 30cm tall and same thing, just started rooting and growing again. The third is my couple of monstrose.
Finally a bunch of seedlings. There are also some bigger ~8 months old seedlings in the 1st lophophora family picture above.
- Trichocereus Pachanoi ("San Pedro")
The first one is about 85-90cm, very blue in person. Looks like it might be a cross but it was sold as pachanoi.
The second one looks like a Claude clone, it is very thick, about 85-90cm too. The last one is my cool broccoli looking crested pachanoi. The rest are some smaller cuttings and seedlings. And of course check out the dozen pachanoi cuttings in the first loph picture above.
- Trichocereus Peruvianus ("Peruvian Torch")
On the right & middle of the first picture
- Trichocereus Terscheckii
In a 7x7cm pot
- Opuntia Cylindrica
Rumoured to be active, I don't really believe it but erowid says it can contain 0.9% mescaline. My mother collected this one in Portugal.
I've seen some crested ones online, they really look funky with the leaves.
My Other Ethnobotanicals & Active Plants
- Camellia Sinensis ("Tea")
- Catha Edulis ("Khat")
~ month old seedlings
- Combretum Quadrangulare ("Sakae Naa")
Seedling at about a month and a half
- Eschscholzia Californica ("Californian Poppy")
- Heimia Salicifolia (Sinicuichi)
Recently took cuttings from it and it bushed it out nicely
- Ilex Paraguaiensis ("Yerba Maté")
All the lighter green leaves are new growth from the past 2 or 3 months
- Lactuca Virosa ("Wild Lettuce")
This stuff grows everywhere but I had to pot one up for completion sake
- Nicotinia Rustica ("Mapacho")
- Nicotinia Tabacum ("Virginia Gold")
- Papaver Somniferum (Persian White, Giant Tasmanian, Hen & Chicks)
- Phalaris Arundinacea ("Reed Canary Grass")
- Silene Capensis ("African Dream Root")
That's it (for the moment), I'll try to update at least once a week or when I have something interesting to show.

Thanks, my plant isn't woody yet and the cuttings I took always were fresh new growth, maybe that's the problem.
