    Staying off the radar

Do you really thing the authorities aren't already aware of everything that has been discussed in this thread? Something tells me the AFP don't come to SAB forums to find the latest anonymity technologies . That said, the thread is somewhat ironic. But, I still think the more we all know about these types of things, the better protected we are as a community. Imagine trying to track communications between 5 people using tor, rather than just 1. I hate the authorities as much as anybody else, and I might have over reacted. Anyways I hope some junior members like myself learned something that could help them one day.

tony abbott is our new PM!!

IQ test scores, like many other continuous variables (i.e. height, weight) are distributed 'normally'... this takes the form of a bell shaped curve. The apex of the bell is the mean score and 68% of all scores should lie within two standard deviations of the mean, give or take. To answer your question, no. It really depends on, (1) What cut-off point you classify as an average IQ (2) What the mean score of the population is and (3) How spread out those scores are... the standard deviation.
  3. I don't have any cubensis prints, but happy to send you a sub print, pm your address. For microscopy purpose only, of course.
  4. From what I've read, attempts at grafting phlebs (at least onto Acacia maidenii) have been largely unsuccessful. I need to look further at what people have done in terms of grafting techniques with Phlebs, but I'm thinking of some nice experiments to assess feasability. One potential problem with grafting (any technique) is that we might loose the spice content. Given that Phelbs are endangered and seed is hard to come by, Acacia alpina could be a nice model plant. Additionally, I don't believe much is known about the spice profile of Acacia alpina itself. More food for thought.

New study shows owning 2+ control routers (and government agencies own many) can be used to reveal a Tor users real IP in about 1 day. In fact you may be painting a big target on your back just using Tor. See below article. http://motherboard.vice.com/blog/tor-is-less-anonymous-than-you-think

I have a lot of ideas that aren't really practical, but could be quite good simply because most people wouldn't expect them. One idea is to use image stenography. There are sites like mozaiq.org that allow you to embed a message within an image. If you have the password, the message can be revealed, but otherwise the image appears normally. The benefit of using this type of encryption is that it doesn't look like an encrypted message on face value, so its highly unlikely any suspicion would be aroused.Try it out for yourself, its pretty cool!

    Isotoma petraea tissue culture

Nice! I've been thinking of trying my hand at tissue culture on some Acacia maidenii seeds I have lying about. Any recommendations Darklight?

    Animal intelligence

My PhD is very closely related to this area. Recently I have been looking at neurogenesis (brain developement) in humans. Roughly speaking, our brains are highly organised structures of neurons that sit in a mesh of other cells. While what you eat is important for brain development, it's also how you get those nutrients to the brain that matters. Think about a tumor; one of the primary mutations a tumors must obtain in order for it to continue growing is angiogenesis (promotion of blood vessel develops), otherwise the tissue on the edge of the tumor starves and dies. Our brain is no different, as it developes we not only need a nutrient rich diet, but we need promoted vessel growth to feed the brain. Heres the really weird part though; the gene that controls vessel growth in the brain is regulated by a another gene that has its origins in the flu virus. This suggests it may have been evolutionary serendipity that lead us to aquire this gene. As you would expect this gene is found with decreasing homology in higher primates through to more primitive primates like lemurs. Now that's a lot of pre-amble but my point is that intelligence and brain evolution are not just about diet.
  9. I have survived off this one for a while: Thai Pumpkin Curry Brown 500g beef strips in pan, put aside. Fry 500g chopped up butternut pumpkin until its cooked. The smaller the pieces the more quickly it cooks! Throw in 3 table spoons thai red chill paste to the pumpkin and fry off a little. Put beef back in, add a can of coconut cream and teaspoon of brown sugar. Simmer until looks like curry! Serve with rice. Done! The original recipe had adding 200ml of beefstock with the coconut cream, but I have found you don't really need it.

Thanks for the input everyone. Here's a quick summary of what you can do to protect your anonymity... 1.) Lets face it, if the popo has gone to effort of installing a key logger on your computer... you're up shit creek anyway, but a key scrambling program like QFX may slow them down. 2.) Use Tor to protect your IP. Be careful of running JavaScript and other plug-ins that may leak your IP. Only access encrypted sites, the exit node in a Tor network may be the popo monitoring your data. 3.) If you are really doing something naughty, don't trust your operating system. Use Tails or some other self contained operating system booted from a usb or cd. 4.) Protect your communications; use encryptions like one-time pad to protect your message, then a pastebin to temporarily store your message. 5.) Avoid Facebook, Google, they collect enormous amounts of data on you. Other search engines like DuckDuckGo offer anonymous searching. Obviously the level of anonymity you need depends on what you want to do/ how paranoid you are, but with increasing monitoring of internet traffic by government and corporations these measures seem like a good idea, if nothing else but a big fuckyou to big brother.

No offence taken Paradox (well actually some offence taken). Everyone should be concerned about who might be on the other end of user accounts. I am- hence this thread. Baseless accusations however are not helpful and somewhat hurtful. Whilst I have not made many posts, I have been a user here for a while. I choose read threads more than participate in them because I don't have much experience, and if that is akin to being a cop, then this really isn't the forum for me. If you cared to look back through the posts I have made, you will see that I have only ever tried to engage in this community in contructive ways. We are talking here about maintaining anonymity, not importing 4kgs of heroin (yes that should get the AFP government data miners going). I feel safer now behind Tails. As I said before, and perhaps you didn't understand the concept, but there is so called herd-anonymity; the more anonymous everyone is, the safer we all are. Do you really think any of these technologies are new to law enforcement agencies? That's somewhat dellusional. They might be helpful to new to people like me though.
  13. Yes please! Gets >>>a big sack of random trichocereus seeds (200+), some branded papaver and nicotiana sylvestris seeds (wild harvested)<<< (Pm'D) I don't have much to offer sorry; next person gets 50+ Peganum harmala seeds

It's scary how much of a data profile Facebook and Google has on us. Trawling the forums I also came across a useful post by Apothecary... ways to keep a low profile on the net. http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7412

I think precisely the opposite Scrubby, we need to be discussing this at length. Nobody is asking you outline methods for importing nefarious things, but simply the best way to maintain online/ in life anonymity. Being as anonymous as possible protects us all, not just the individual. Tor and VPN's have their weaknesses but they're much better than letting it all hang out in regular browser. Quaterflesh - case in point. You don't know who I am, and I don't know who you are... and that's the best way to keep it, hence this thread.

Does anyone have any spore prints to buy?

Hmm thats a tricky one. Perhaps one day you accidently misplaced your spore print in a pile of wood chip, then voila! Next time it rained you found some interesting mushrooms in in your backyard, and what better to do than make some spore prints them to identify them.

Thanks for advice Zaka, I've done just that. Hopefully I'll get some nice little grafts taking root. Climate is temperate - NSW coastal.

    Clinical trials

Hi all! This is my first post on The Corroboree. I've had a long time love of gardening, plants and their medicinal potentials, and I just want to say what a wealth of knowledge we have here. I've got a lot to learn! Through reading these forums I've come across alot of threads in which members debate (sometimes quite heatedly!) the effects and doses of certain plants. My background is in science and clinical trial design, and I just wanted to put my skills out on the forum, so that if anyone is conducting a trial, or plans to conduct a trial in the future, I might be able to help (volunteer wise of course)! I hope to get more involved with the community here! Cheers, M

    Clinical trials

Lots and lots! I grow most of my own veg; lettuce, carrots, eggplant, tomatos, snow peas, cauliflower... For medicinal purposes I grow just the basics - aloe vera, calendura and echinacia, but I'm looking to expand once i get some more time on my hands. For my own purposes (not quite sure how to phrase this) I've got some psychotria viridis, though I think I might loose these soon, they're a bit ill looking
