    where to get tihkal/pihkal

I ordered both PIHKAL and TIHKAL about 2 years back for about $50 each through Collins Bookstore. Easy. They (and pretty much any other bookstore) won't bother checking classifications, cause basically everyone realises that it is a ridiculous law than bans books. Mind you I have heard of people's parcels arriving containing nothing but that online bookshops invoice and a catalouge (obviously the book was stolen by customs).

Interest in Aussie version of JLFCatalog?

Just wondering whether there would be any interest in an aussie version of the (in)famous JLFCatalog? For those who don't know what it is they specialise in: "Products for science & hobby, processing & manufacturing, research & development, arts & crafts, ornament & decoration. Products include many species of dried botanicals like roots, flowers, leaves, stems, mushrooms, fungi, pods, seeds, barks, vines, saps, sclerotia, powders and extracts. Products also include zoologicals, fossils, videos, mushroom-growing grain jars and more. " So it would have products similar to shaman-australis, etc.. as well as many different and interesting ones. Some examples would be: - Plant extracts (ashwaganda, chamomile, cat's claw, angelica archangelica, ginger root, gurana, ginko biloba, ginseng, brahmi, gotu kola, green tea, lotus etc..) - Other interesting materials (bicarb, citric acid, vitamin C, vitamin E, soy protein, vanillin, vitamin A, glycerine, pure menthol crystals, myrrh, frankinsense etc..) - Oils (both fragrent and those with special properties). Such as: chamomile oil, clove bud oil, citral, chilli oil, elemi oil, eucalyptus oil, fennel oil, etc... All these and more in quantities ranging anywhere from 5g/mL to 500g/mL. So what's the interest level here? If it's large enough I might start with selling the items people would be most interested in (any suggestions?- of course they must be legal), and adding more as I go.

    Salvia Research Update

Are you sure that you don't have a variety of Salvia reflexin that has somewhat lethally high levels of nitrates (toxic effects are produced by inability of the blood to absorb oxygen)? ( http://www.anapsid.org/resources/plants-oz.html ) You should be careful when experimenting with any plants, and should always do research first.

    Isosafrole: Active metabolites?

safrole and isosafrole r pretty damned toxic. theyre used in the synthesis of mdma, mda, mdea, and watever other analogues there r. the safrole supplies the 'methylenedioxy' bit and if add ammonia u get mda, methylamine/nitromethane u get mdma(ecstacy), ethylamine/nitroethane and u get mdea. but of course u need to reductivly aminate it. the common method used here is aluminium amalgum

    Sydney Golden Wattle (warning)

While bushwalking in an attempt to find a number of plants I came across what i thought was the acacia maidenii tree. I took some photographs and showed them to the Sydney Wildflower Nursery, in heathcote. They told me that it was the Sydney Golden Wattle (acacia longifolia, i think). I remembered reading that this tree also contained tryptamines so I read about some more. It turned out that the bark did contain some tryptamines, but the leaves of the plant had been used by aborigines for fish poison, due to their cyanide content. The fact that this plant had such a poison in it at all put me off seeing whether I could grow it at home. A lot of ethnobotanical suppliers that I have seen promote this plant as one with a tryptamine content. They don't say where the tryptamines are in the plant and some people would assume it was in the leaves as well. This could proberly lead to poisonings if people were to try the plant. So this is just a warning to those of you who are thinking about trying this plant...
