I have been reading up about it but can't find a answer & I'm keen to know as my has flower buds developing & I would love to get some seed from it. myco Posted January 3, 2013 very nice jox i actually just recieved nice one yesterday in the mail wich i bought off ebay last week it has an old flower on it and looks like theres a couple of new ones starting to come out so hopefully i'll have some sooner than i thought please let me know if you find anything on wether theyre self fertile or not i'll have to start looking myself i'll let you know if i find anything otherwise i may be able to send you some pollen when i get some flowers if you dont have any others to polinate them with Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Hopefully one of us can get some seed happening. @ Got, thanks for that link but my computer wont download it or show it to me, I am pretty stupid when it comes to computers (technology in general ). As for my plant, yes it is grafted onto peres. I was gifted this from 2Deep a few months ago, we were talking about it a couple of days ago & interestingly his aren't flowering & have elongated & become bigger than mine, we think this is to do with the sun exposure as we both have our grafts in a greenhouse with 50% green shade cloth but my plants get 3 to 4 more hours of direct sun! 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Jox Posted January 9, 2013 One more sleep & I will get to see my first C. hypogea flowers @Got, this plant is 4cm high & 6cm wide, I was thinking about cutting it of the graft when it finished flowering & trying to get it going on its own roots, but today when I turned it around I spotted two pups & one of them is already 1.5cm, so I will try to cut theses off & get them rooted. I was just going to cut these of & let them heal for a couple of days, then sit them on some sand. I was very happy to see these this morning, I will move pollen from one flower to another just in case, @Got thank you for the e-mail, that will come in handy & I noticed they had 3 forms of C.hypogea, 2 had an S next to them & 1 had S/F. Anyway we will see what happens. @Myco, I will send you a PM about pollen If anyone wants to add photos of there Copiapoa's, I would love to see them!! GoOnThen Posted January 10, 2013 Cool flowers Looks like there is no shortage of pollen in those flowers. I actually have three Copiapoa. I forgot about the other one because its on its own roots so it not with the other two. I will post some pics at some stage. As far as rooting the pups go I have no idea how easily they root. kadakuda Posted January 26, 2013 Wow, you guys can get tehm as assorted cactus there? here they are still collectible amiong a lot and are still somewhat pricey (at least compared to nursery types). and its even fairly symetrical, what a beauty. all my c. hypo are grafted and completely fucked up from rodents and snails. Jox Posted January 26, 2013 Hey Kadakuda, I have seen seed of the C.h, lizard skin for sale in Australia, but I don't think they knew what they were on about so I did not buy them. I did buy some from a seeds from a company in Italy but had zero germination with them , which is a shame because they would have to be one of my favourite cactus! If anyone has a few Copiapoa hypogea & are keen to trade one please let me know.
