Cheilanthes species as a coca substitute

Recommended Posts

While reading a publication from Sacred Succulents, I came across mention of a Cheilanthes species and that some species in the genus might be chewed like a coca leaf, as a coca substitute.

I found one reference to it on this site.

Apparently some Polypodium species can be used in the same way.

Anyone know much about this subject?

Edit: typos

I saw that too, but I suck at germinating ferns.

The common Polypodium,

looking just like a fern that grows everywhere.. :scratchhead:

i've also just read is used in conjunction with Horny goat weed,

for its phytoecdysteroid content. Interesting.

Epemedium is interesting enough..

and Mucuna is all over hyped up for muscle stuff..

but a common as fern, which can be used like stevia

a medicine, a food..

and seems like it'd be good for ye old muscles..

cool!!
