nabraxas Posted April 20, 2008 (edited) I always had a preconception that the sap was red dont know why? Sometimes it can have a pinkish hue, sometimes it can be dark red. Initially the latex is pink; later it changes to black. (More great pics Here) Some claim that the red/pink latex is much stronger than the white. Some claim the red/pink latex is indicative ov a high thebaine content, though that seems quite doubtful. Edited April 23, 2008 by nabraxas

nabraxas Posted May 12, 2008 (edited) Papaver somniferum Paeoniflorum Group (sometimes called Papaver paeoniflorum) is a sub-type of opium poppy whose flowers are highly double, and are grown in many colors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium_poppy in other words, yes peonys are a sub-type of opium poppy. Papaver rhoeas however is the plain old corn poppy & has none ov the somniferum goodness. Edited May 12, 2008 by nabraxas
