M S Smith Posted November 30, 2005 Some of you may be familiar with Eduardo Calderon, the famous shaman of Peru. He is the one is front of the Mesa we see in most of those old B&W photos (see the one below). This is a film I found that includes him. http://www.doneduardo.ch/e_home.html ~Michael~
Micromegas Posted November 30, 2021 Yeah looks like it. The book Eduardo el Curandero: The Words of a Peruvian Healer is a good read for anyone interested in the mesa tradition, Eduardo Calderon (Author), Richard Cowan (Author), Douglas Sharon (Author), F. Kaye Sharon (Author), the other works of Douglas Sharon on mesada and ethnobotanical plants of the Andes worth a squizz.
trucha Posted December 23, 2021 Yes. There were two movies made about him and there have been around half a dozen publications about him or his practice written by or involving Douglas Sharon. One of which was at least partially by Eduardo Calderon (Terapia de la Curanderia). The Spanish language version of that book includes content that somehow never made it into the English version so I would recommend that for anyone who reads Spanish.
