I've tried it on my machine at work and at home...same results. Is this a problem at my end or not? anyone have any idea what might be causing this?Appologies if this has been discussed before or if its an obvious fix... Torsten
but you don't have any problems posting in threads? That's odd. Normally any problems with psting would be for both threads and PMs and is usually cookie related. Maybe try and delete/reset your cookies. Anyone else have a better idea? or similar problems? visualfx
Hey Torsten,I deleted all the cookies and fired off a couple of test Pm's with success (as you well know)...but the original message i was having problems with is still refusing to send??? Maybe the message is too long or i used illegal characters or something...i really don't get it. Is there a maximum size for Pm's? This one that I'm wrestling with was only 100-200 words!?sorry for the time waster....and cheers for your help!
Torsten
that size should be fine. maybe it was some code that it didn't like. we've encountered a couple of them,. This PM wasn't to darkstar by any chance? cos we know his name can upset the system <___base_url___>/uploads/emoticons/default_tongue.png (if it has a dash in front of it).If you're keen to track down the problem simply try to post it in two halves. whichever half causes problems, try and split in half again. etc keep going until you've narrowed it down to the offending phrase. visualfx
damn you " - " it was the dash character ( - ). i removed all instances of it from the message and it went fine. alright, i wont be doing that again.... Thanks again T...message sent successfully!
Torsten
well, it can't be the dash alone, because - it works. So it must be a combination. The last time it was dash space darkstar, so I wonder if it does this for othernames too.testing - Torsten obviously works. Or maybe it was the other way round. I'll have a look in the relevant thread.
visualfx
your right, it'll be the "-" in combination with another character creating some kind of switch or escape case... i'll dick around with it and see what the fatal combination(s) was and report back here...having said that, it has to be the "-"... it was the only thing i changed before it worked...
