chilli Posted November 10, 2005 Hi, these are some of my Trichocereus, can anyone help me with some ID info? They were all sold as Pachanoi, but there are a few things that throw me off, namely: The very brown areoles and greater segmentation on this one... The brown areoles on this one... And this one looks a little like a Scop, although its pretty dehydrated, and I have seen more from the same person that are much more like a more typical Pachanoi... I'm probably betraying my gross ignorance with regards to identifying Trichocereus, but I suppose I have to start somewhere... Thanks everyone.
zee_werp Posted November 10, 2005 The top 2 look like pachanoi, although I agree the top one (1st cactus in your post) looks different. It resembles one I have that is a short spined peruvianus. And yep the bottom one is a scop, one of the few strains of scop we have here in NZ the real dark leathery one. As far as I know brown areoles doesn't mean its not a pach. Cause many of the plants that I know as pach can have brown areoles at first. Unless I've been horribly mistaken all this time! EDIT: My short spined peruvianus from above 2nd EDIT!! Changed this post around, was too damn confusing after the removal of those other pics.
chilli Posted November 11, 2005 Oops, I posted the wrong picture for the first two... I have removed it now, so zee_werp's comment referring to the second pic is actually the first one that you can see now... How confusing
