Recently A friend and I woke up bleary eyed at a friends place to find this in the back garden. Should we be offering to remove this common pest from his garden??

Apologies for the blurred photos.

If it helps the spines were next to non existent - just little coarse, fluffy patches

Cheers

Jim

What a fucking monster!

Looks Pachanoid to me but if you say the spines are next to not existant then maybe a Pach x Scop hybrid?

Yeah, I remember about three years ago, when I had just found out about Pachanois and other hallucinogenic Trichs, I found a huge stand of cereus very similar to these - I had my doubts, as they looked quite different from Pachanoi, but not enough to deter me and my brother from chopping some off and making a soup out of it.

It was quite nice actually, it tasted a little like zucchini or something...

Well, not exactly nice, but it was like lemonade in comparison to the actual taste of Pachanoi extract, which I only experienced for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

Just goes to show what a bit of time can do

now imagine if people had been planting useful trichocereus instead of cereus all these years...

i think in a few years well see alot more monster scop finds simply cos the aussie cactus trade has been churning them out via bunnings for so long

they soon outgrow their tiny mixed planting dishes and hopefully will be the 'cactoid alligators of suburbia'

well i do my bit anyway..
