Darklight Posted June 1, 2002 Heya Anyone had any success with germinating these? I'm starting to suspect a link between seed morphology and germination patterns. Could be just paranoia mind, but this is the third spp I've tried with thin, flat, broad seeds that just *rot* and I've had them from a multitude of sources
Torsten Posted June 1, 2002 I am sure this one is entirely down to freshness. I have had fresh seed and germinated it in batches with very fast decline of viability. A friend has recommended hat water treatment of low viability seed, but I have never been able to germinate any this way. The seedcoat is VERY thin and I believe the seed simply dries out quickly. I think I have a source of fresh seed which should only be a few more weeks.
Andrew Posted June 2, 2002 Darklight, you,re not alone,I,ve tried a few times with differently sourced seeds and every time they rot(I use fongarid and coarse sand and bottom heat).I think they smell like an acacia lined creek.Acacias seem to have a really distinctive smell.
