Guest Daytripper Posted June 6, 2002 Hey all,i think it`s nearly shroom time again in vic in about 3 weeks I THINK,I HOPE(please correct me if i`m wrong) and i need to know what to do about the small insects under the cap.I would`nt worry about it but if i boiled them for a sec to kill em off, is`nt heat not good cause it destroys the psylicibin in the shrooms? Any way I NEED TO GET RID OF THESE INSECTS,CAUSE IT SOUNDS GROSS TO EAT THEM WHILE THERE STILL MOVING!!! blog Posted June 11, 2002 Will freezing kill the eggs or just put them in a state of suspension? My problem with mushrooms is the maggot eggs hatching AFTER I've picked the fresh healthy mushrooms. It occurs during the drying process, which takes most of a week. Seeing once firm stalks turn to slosh and start wiggling is pretty disgusting.
