Guest Captain Rats Posted January 2, 2002 I know cacti can get sunburn but I didnt see this one coming. I placed a piece of foil mounted on thin cardboard behind my T.Pach to give it more light, but there was a curve in the foil which caused the sun to intensify from the parabolic surface reflection thingy effect. So now it has on one turned a tan-colour, is slightly shrivelled and soft, and has brown resin-looking drops forming on the surface that have now dried and hardened. It looks as though the burn is severe. Will it survive and is there any way to help it apart from not using curved reflectors ever again? TIA Cap.
Torsten Posted January 2, 2002 Don't use reflectors at all! Injured tissue can either rot or dry off. If you keep your cactus dry and in dry air it is more likely to dry off. If rot sets in then there is little hope.
Guest Captain Rats Posted January 2, 2002 Lesson learnt, no reflectors. Thanks Torsten, Cap.
