Tripitaka Posted January 4, 2002 It appears that several of my Trich's are developing what appears to be an organic rust, plants are still, healthy however it appears to be spreading. It is a kind of tan coloured growth with reddish tinges closer to the unaffected new seasons growth. If anyone has encountered and cured any advice would be fantastic. Also to make fellow cactophiles druel with envy, just purchased 3, 3yr old Loph's for $2 each, could not believe my luck!!!
Guest Captain Rats Posted January 4, 2002 My Trich has turned tan and reddish on one side but that's from sunburn. So.. where did you get the loph's? Cap.
toby Posted January 4, 2002 i have this problem? around grafts i thought it was from poor hygeine when cutting or during healing, doesn't seem to spread too profusely, but yeah rust was my exact thought on what it was, is yours actually on the outer skin
Tripitaka Posted January 9, 2002 yes, on outer skin only, have tried white oil but inneffective, does not appearon new seasons growth. What do redspider mites look like?

Guest VENDEJO Posted January 11, 2002 From what's been described it sounds like you are over-fertilising your cactii with nitrogen ... just a guess - any pics so we can be a little more accurate?
