Caapi response to cold

Recommended Posts

Hi Folk, about a month ago a caapi plant of the black variety joined the household, along with a cielo.

what I’ve noticed is the black is only growing one leaf to a larger size per set, see photo

all other pairs were grown before she reached me110CF680-731D-40EF-BB58-88A1EEA052DF.thumb.jpeg.272e0f0a25266d4ce7cb9e5856e8dc40.jpeg6D414E0F-1C61-4D54-8B4E-C520EA5A5F60.thumb.jpeg.184560510a479aa3df0771904570b92f.jpeg

not sure whats the question.. they are pretty hardy plants if you dont have too low temps.

My original caapi vine came from a humid climate and then I grew it in Perth where the humidity isn't that high and it can drop rather low in Winter. The vine did just fine outside.

Yes, I’ve got one outside that has no problems, the one on the enclosed veranda is also beset by ants farming scale, I think anyway

i have grown two different caapi at my place, both planted into the ground, both survived mild frosts, even without protection.

and i agree with sagi, you, "topic starter be clear" when asking a question.

they don't even get upset like many other plants, once it gets cold (not even frosting) for the first time.

my theory is that, the cold weather is not harming the plant, BUT HARMING BENEFICAL BACTERIA AND FUNGI IN THE SOIL, AND ENCOURAGING BAD BUGS IN THE SOIL.

LIKE FUSARIUM WILT.
